VAN HALEN: 'The Studio Albums 1978-1984' Box Set Due In March - Feb. 6, 2013
VAN HALEN is one of the world's most legendary rock bands, having sold over 75 million albums worldwide since its revolutionary debut in 1978. Driven by Eddie Van Halen, the guitarist widely regarded as second only to Jimi Hendrix, VAN HALEN has produced some of rock's most unforgettable rock songs.

Van Halen Store, in association with Warner Bros./Rhino, is proud to announce that "Van Halen: The Studio Albums 1978-1984" is due for release March 26. This limited-edition 6CD box set documents the band's indelible history, from their self-titled 1978 debut until the "1984" album, which was to be singer David Lee Roth's last record with the band until 2012. Included in this box are many of the band's best-known songs — "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love", "Runnin' With The Devil", "Jump", "Dance The Night Away", "Unchained", "Everybody Wants Some", "Hot For Teacher" and "Panama".

"The Studio Albums 1978-1984" is a no-frills package of VAN HALEN's incredible era with original vocalist David Lee Roth at the helm, remastered and neatly packaged in clamshell box. Featuring the now-immortal six-string styles of Eddie Van Halen, the devastating rhythm section of bassist Michael Anthony and drummer Alex Van Halen and the clean production of Ted Templeman, this box is a crash course in big rock.

If you're looking for a gift for a new (or maybe even an old) VAN HALEN fan, this six-disc box is the perfect way to own a slice of HALEN history!

Pre-order yours now at VanHalenStore.com. This limited-edition item won't last.

This is just stupid. What Van Halen fan doesn't already own these albums? No b-sides? Rare live stuff?

I already own all these. It would have been nicer to release a b-sides and rarities set instead.

this is obviously the record company's idea to cash in on an upcoming tour....I'm sure EVH has very little say about it...the old record company can do what they want....they own it

Underwhelming. It would be cool if demos and 'never before heard' stuff were included. How about a dvd of early performance footage?

VH has tons of unreleased songs during their career. What about making a box set out of those. Fans would rather own them, instead of the first 6 everybody got already.

...not saying it was as good as Fair Warning, but it was a pretty decent return to form. And EVH can still play that mf guitar...

Having said that, I agree with most re: this box set...it's just rehashing what everyone already has. What's the point?

At least the price ($40) isn't out of control.

You can buy all these CDs at Target and Walmart for $5 each. this would have been an ideal opportunity to include a DVD with the pre 1984 promo clips or even a big booklet with rare photos and stories. Oh well...just another cash grab imo

Wonder if they will photo shop Michael out of all the band photos. No added incentive to buy this what so ever. No live stuff, no covers, nada.

Van Halen * ((Van Halen - Sammy Hagar - Michael Anthony) + Wolfgang + David Lee Roth) * 6 Albums Already Available Remastered = 6 * (Ripoff + boring + nothing new)

I'm not sure if the math works out, not my strength, but I'm not as good with > or < as the rest of the people on Blabbermouth so this is the best I could do.

gong to do a Van Halen boxed set then you should have rare tracks, b-sides, the sammy years and yes even the dreaded disc they did with Gary Cherone and a live dvd depicting the various incranations of Van Halen. I have all of these discs. this thing is simply a waste of time

I read somewhere else that these were going to be remastered... if that's true, then THAT should be the first part of the headline if not THE headline...
If it's true, then I'll be buying this. I don't think these albums have ever been remastered before.

You can get the albums for $4.99 apiece at Best Buy. Same discs, same Y2K remasters, just in jewel cases not paper "album replica" sleeves like this over priced box set.

B-sides, live stuff, bonus DVDs? You're all delusional. No one in the VH camp now is interested in giving fans what they want or even reasonably expect. Instead we get Frankenstein flipflops and canceled tours.

you get a couple weird terms in your original equation like VH^2 and DLR*VH so I think it can be simplified to;

this= ripoff + nothing new

But i'd rather spend less $ and get them all individually. Which I have done. There's nothing interesting here either, no unreleased stuff, demos, live DLR material. Seriously one thing that VH needs is some live DLR era material. Like US festival show. That live cd with Sammy does not cut it.

Now if a live DVD for a tour supporting each album was available with each disc, then it's a whole new ball game and I am not talking bout the US Festival show being one of them.

Fuckin' remaster the Sammy and Gary years stuff.

Won't get that though. Eddie's too big of an asshole to do that. He's afraid Sam and Mike will get royalties.

What a jerk.

Blame Warner Bros. This is their baby, Van Halen's signed to Interscope now. Granted, Ed owns the rights to all the music, but I'm sure that, since Rhino's imprint is here, he has little say in the matter and Warner Bros. is just looking to cash in on the completionists who will buy anything with the name Van Halen on it. Look at how many Black Sabbath compilations there are. Look at any other band with more than ten albums on the Warner group too, it's definitely not Van Halen's fault.

Bonus demo Cds should be included in each one. They have enough music to make you cry if you were a fly on the wall at 5150.

Funny, I never see the ou812 fuck balance or 3. Balance and 3 are completely sold out of their pressings. 3 should be released with the unreleased 2nd cherone album that is just fucking sitting there. The only way to get these now are the mom and pop shop that has a little back stock if you want it new.

These once again are some of the main reasons why the record labels are out of business or struggling. ALL of Van Halen's music should be available on a fucking disc.

Eddie and the record company would make a killing selling this to new and old VH fans if they had a 13 album set????

Van Halen 6 albums
Van Hagar 4 albums
Van Halen III 1 album
Van Halen Now 1 album
plus live, demos and added songs from VH greatests hits Vol. 1 and VH GH 2.

Come on swallow your pride you drunk and make more money and release something everyone would buy!
