EXODUS Latest Victim Of 'DISNEY Ban?' - Feb. 4, 2013
San Francisco Bay Area thrashers EXODUS will be forced to miss the April 12 date of the Metal Alliance Tour — featuring headliners ANTHRAX, along with support acts HIGH ON FIRE, MUNICIPAL WASTE and HOLY GRAIL — at the the House of Blues venue in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, a property owned by the Disney corporation.

Says EXODUS: "Because Disney has decided that EXODUS is TOO METAL for them, we will NOT be playing the Lake Buena Vista [House Of Blues] show in Florida, but the fine thrash maniacs in Tampa have invited us to rage at the Orpheum instead. Who's comin' out for a Lesson in Violence?"

The Walt Disney Company previously banned MACHINE HEAD from performing at the same House Of Blues venue in Florida in December 2012 as well as in two separate House Of Blues venues in 2007, allegedly due to the band's "violent imagery," "inflammatory lyrics" and the group's "undesirable fans." Other acts that were reportedly "banned" by the Walt Disney Corporation include DAATH, THE FACELESS, SNOT and GALLOWS.

To report any abusive, obscene, defamatory, racist, homophobic or threatening comments, or anything that may violate any applicable laws, please send an e-mail to bmouth@bellatlantic.net with pertinent details. It's their right to ban any bands they wish to ban. It's also my right to boycott anything and everything Disney. I guess selling sex to children and anti-semitism are ok but metal is evil. Fuck Disney!

The right thing to do is for the rest of the bands to boycott the venue and play elsewhere.

The rest of the bands would be in breach of contract unless the venue failed to do something which was stipulated in the contract. It's shitty but that's the way it is.

The right thing would be for the other bands to boycott, yes. However, as MPETB (fucking awesome name, btw) pointed out, they would most likely be in breach of contract.

That being said, bands, metal or otherwise, should take a lesson from this sad affair and refuse to play Disney venues.

I know I will.

I think you've all got it wrong. They're probably not allowed because Exodus is notorious for having the most insane mosh pits. I saw them at the Whiskey in L.A. back in 2007 and they banned stage diving, moshing AND Exodus after that show.

it's good to know that Disney has a problem with Exodus, but I guess they're ok with Municipal Waste's "Fatal Feast" album cover art, and songs like "Covered In Sick?"

With Machine Head it was clearly about their anti-war politics, but with Exodus that can't be the reason as they're pretty right-wing, lyrically speaking.

The irony of Disney's policy is further examined in Dark Angel's "A Subtle Induction."

If it's not still clear, look for the acrostic in the next to last verse; it was made pretty clear in the original printing of the album. Gene Hoglan is an awesome lyricist, and I loved the Easter egg he threw in to hammer home the point.

Metal is still not mainstream, is what this says. Leaves us metal fans with people and companies to piss on. We really should be grateful to Disney for it. And Exodus too, by the way. No greater publicity than this kind of publicity.

So the Baptists boycotted you because you let Ellen come out on tv, pay benefits to domestic partners, let homosexuals have their special day at the park (even though you did no advertising or promotion) and decided to own Touchstone pictures which released Pulp Fiction? Didn't like that too much, eh? Now you are banning metal bands? Not cool.

... and this isn't a new development. When I bought my ticket for the show in Orlando, Exodus was not on the list of acts, and they even had a variation on the Metal Alliance poster without Exodus on it. So, it was known that Exodus wouldn't be on the show when they put tickets on sale a month ago.

I really do not think this comes as a surprise to anyone. I've attended one show at the HoB in Orlando (Down, Melvins, Weedeater). Missing from the lineup was Evil Army, a bunch of young punks trying to make a name for themselves. I heard the reason was because of their name, not their lyrical content. Either way, Phil Anselmo could not believe it and asked are we really on Disney property? I did not find the environment to be conducive for a metal/rock/doom/stoner show. The Disney patrons looked at us like we were horrible. I want to know what the Metal Alliance Tour is thinking? Exodus is a big draw and that gig in Tampa is somewhat a conflict of interest.

as far as orlando venues go, 6 exits on the highway separate HOB and the Hard Rock. The Hard Rock doesn't ban bands like this, and the tickets are always cheaper because they aren't owned by livenation. If livenation wasn't so greedy, they could just put these shows at the hard rock but it would be the end of the world if they lost money........

That makes about as much sense as snot being banned for their name. Snot was banned during the mudvayne tour in 2008, and it was funny to me that snot was banned but mudvayne wasn't. mudvayne's lyrics are far more controversial and "offensive" than snot's lyrics. Disney is the fucking antichrist and eventually those fascist tyrants will be boycotted if they keep this shit up. I think all the bands should do a "Fuck Disney Tour". Machine Head, Exodus, The Faceless, Snot, Daath, Gallows.

Ok. First, they messed with my beloved Machine Head. Now one of the bands of my youth, Exodus?! Since the MH ban, I stopped buying my kids Disney stuff and we stopped watching the Disney & Disney Jr. TV channels. My sons LOVE their Disney characters but I'm trying to raise decent future metalheads here. Dear Disney: you can kiss my money good-bye and my ass too.

just seeing this now, was wondering why exodus wasn't at HOB anaheim on opeining night, this explains it. I figured maybe it was a scheduling thing or something, it wasn't mentioned that's for sure. they should refund a portion of the ticket price if they ban one of the main acts, that's BS
