SIX FEET UNDER: New Album Title, Cover Artwork Unveiled - Jan. 26, 2013
Extreme metal veterans SIX FEET UNDER are tentatively scheduled to release their new full-length album, "Unborn", on March 19 via Metal Blade Records. The follow-to to 2012's "Undead" was mixed by Chris "Zeuss" Harris, who has previously worked with SUICIDE SILENCE, ALL THAT REMAINS, SHADOWS FALL and SOULFLY, among others. The cover artwork for the CD can be found below.

A two-camera mix of SIX FEET UNDER's June 23, 2012 performance at Metro Operahouse in Oakland, California can be seen below.

SIX FEET UNDER in May 2012 announced the addition of Swedish rhythm guitarist Ola Englund (FEARED, SCARPOINT) to the group's ranks. Englund, who made his first official appearance with the band on the "18 Nights Of Blood Tour", took the place of Rob Arnold (CHIMAIRA).

"Undead" was released on May 22, 2012 through Metal Blade Records. The 12-track CD was produced by Mark Lewis (DEICIDE, DEVILDRIVER) and mixed by Jason Suecof (WHITECHAPEL, JOB FOR A COWBOY), at AudioHammer Studios in Sanford, Florida.

SIX FEET UNDER last year parted ways with bassist Matt DeVries and replaced him with Jeff Hughell, formerly of the Santa Cruz, California technical death metal band BRAIN DRILL and Concord, California death metal group VILE, and currently of RECIPROCAL.

This is the greatest band ever. If you disagree, you are an intelligent human being.

Barnes broke the SFU formula and it didn't work for the most part IMO. I hope this next album is better.

The guitarist of Whitechapel wrote this album in Chris' vain attempt at staying relevant.

So this album is pretty much going to be nothing special. Take some time and put forth some effort on an album.

Should be good. Last album was the only SFU I really liked. Proper death metal.

This is great news. The last album was brutal. Lumps have you tried Maximum Violence and Haunted? Even 13 was pretty sweet. There are some great songs through out their collection. You just have to pick and chose on some of them.

Hopefully this new album is not just a thrown together thing. I didn't even know they were in the studio. I know they said they had a ton of songs for the last album. I am wondering if maybe they are the rejects from that one. Since the title is kind of similar maybe thats the case. Doesn't mean it will be bad. Just seems weird they are releasing an album so quickly

I saw them live not too long ago and they were absolutely amazing. They are much better now with this new line up than they were about 5 years ago. Barnes looked and sounded good.

Kevin Talley is a BEAST on the drum kit. That new bass player is really bad ass. This is the best group of musicians he has ever had since the glory days with Cannibal Corpse.

Im very interested to hear some samples from this new one!

Loved "UNdead", was definitely a turnaround from the last 2-3 effors.

Lots Rob Arnold influence on that last one....I am sure we will hear another guitar style on this one.

VERY surprised a new album is already on its way.......?

Woah already? I'm a big SFU fan but I'm surprised theres already another one coming out with an incredibly similar title and even more similar cover. Maybe there's a trilogy planned or something.

But since I'm not one of these asshole fucking douchebags that gets legitimately pissed off when bands put out new music, I'm interested to hear this one.

Just because they're releasing a new album in 1 year as opposed to taking 4-6 years to muster some contractually obliged inspiration to put out an album like other bands doesn't mean in the least that it's going to be a rushed effort.

line-up change = new contributors to the writing, duh.

not every 16-yr-old-that-gets-pregnant's kid fails at life. Bad analogy, I know.

excellent artwork, cant believe how quickly the next album is going to be released. All the SFU haters just dont understand the style of this great band who are not trying to reinvent the wheel with their style of deathmetal. This albums probably has songs left over from the Undead susession which is aogod thing cause that album was great

That's completely true, Dangg. Good eye!
I did the artwork for this and that was the intent from the get go (including the re-use of the skull at the bottom of the image).

I believe the reason for this is because the album contains music that was partially written from the Undead sessions so they wanted to keep the vibe going onto this one, too.

a companion piece to the last album and therefore similar in style and sound.

Not necessarily a bad thing, so long as it isn't made up of tracks from the cutting room floor of the last session

am excited for the new record. It doesn't mean jackshit that there's little time between records. Look at Sylosis, for Christ's sake. Undead was killer.

everyone says CC is so much more original and and SFU is supposedly generic and redundant. Yet, who's releasing a new studio album of brand new material as opposed to releasing a big $100 priced boxset of previously released albums?
