BRIAN 'HEAD' WELCH Is 'Really Excited' About Reuniting With KORN - Jan. 24, 2013
KORN will reunite with founding guitarist Brian "Head" Welch for several festival shows this summer, including two dates in Germany, one concert in the United Kingdom and at the upcoming Rock On The Range festival in Columbus, Ohio.

Welch joined KORN onstage for the song "Blind" last May at the Carolina Rebellion festival in Rockingham, North Carolina, marking the first time in eight years that KORN played with Welch.

Welch, who has just released an album with his new band LOVE & DEATH, is looking forward to performing full shows with his former bandmates for the first time since 2004. He tells ARTISTdirect, "This is going to be crazy for me in a great way."

He adds: "It's a bit surreal because I didn't expect it to happen. We have no hate for each other like some of these other bands that haven't talked in years. People grew. Everyone went to different places in life. I don't know. It was so long that I didn't see it happening, but then when it crept up on me last May during Carolina Rebellion, I saw the emotion. Nothing else mattered except reconciliation, brotherly love, and that family feel with the guys and the fans. People were in tears. I thought, 'This is a really good thing.'"

"When they hit me up about the shows this year, to me, it was time. This is the proper time. The reason I felt like it would never happen because it wasn't the proper time yet. As soon as the day hit when I felt it was right, it felt so good. I'm really excited about this year with them."

Welch left KORN in 2005 to become a born-again Christian. The band never officially replaced him and stayed a four-piece, although they've used several touring guitarists for live work.

Welch and bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu have said in interviews that a full reunion could be possible one day.

KORN has been touring for much of the past year behind its 10th studio album, "The Path Of Totality", but has also begun work on a new set of material.

I'm not a korn fan, but four out of five original members is better than a lot of bands are doing these days.

Korn is a mediocre band with or without him. Stop overrating them because you guys loved them when you were 12.

The irony is, that Manowar, and also most of their fans who buy into their idiotic "true metal" ideology are probably the biggest posers of all in the metal scene! lol

He quits Korn because of his life style, but now that he spent all of his money on failed bands. So, I guess back to Korn? What a damn hypocrite.

Brian's new band "Love and Death" just released their first album. The riffs are better than anything on Korn has released in years. Right now, on iTunes, with over 200 reviews, the album has an average of a 5 star rating from listeners. It appears to have charted better than expected as well. I've been listening to it for a few days now. ...it's pretty good and tends to grow on you the more you listen to it.

And the rifts. It brings them. Brian's playing on the new Love and Death album makes it clear that compared to Brian, Munky can't play worth a shit.

To be clear, this new album is MUCH better than his first debut album that was released under his own name.

I don't think playing with Korn again is necessarily about money. It's clear those guys have affection for each other, and Brian never made a secret out of the fact that he would like to play with them again, but that he just couldn't and wouldn't play with them so long as Korn was the way it was and his own life was the way it was.

I figure he eventually re-joins Korn because, well, they need him to produce better music, and maybe he can shake things up and get them to start writing with fresher lyrics and stuff. His new band may or may not continue...I think it probably will, but as a side-project. ...It's beginning to look more and more like his new band is going to be a hit...Like I said, it's pretty good. The riffs are there. The vocals are much improved from the first album as well.
