KURDT VANDERHOOF Talks METAL CHURCH, PRESTO BALLET In New Audio Interview - Jan. 17, 2013
Dan Sauter, host and executive producer of Music Life Radio, recently conducted an interview with Kurdt Vanderhoof, the guitarist and songwriter of METAL CHURCH and PRESTO BALLET. You can now listen to the chat using the audio player below.

Interview (audio):

METAL CHURCHRonny Munroe on vocals, Kurdt Vanderhoof and Jay Reynolds on guitars, Steve Unger on bass, and Jeff Plate on drums — will celebrate their official reunion on board 70000 Tons Of Metal, the world's biggest heavy metal cruise.

For one of their two shows on board, they will play their debut album, "Metal Church", in its entirety. The other show will be a "greatest-hits" set.

METAL CHURCH called it quits after performing at the Rocklahoma festival in July 2009 in Pryor, Oklahoma.

PRESTO BALLET in October announced the addition of lead vocalist Chuck Campbell. Chuck joins the group as the replacement for METAL CHURCH/ex-LILLIAN AXE frontman Ronny Munroe, who quit PRESTO BALLET in January 2012.

I like 1st and 2nd record with Ronnie. But the 3rd record I listened to it recently and the 2nd track must be the so out of pitch song of all time. Ya need to re-record and include a greatest hits with new record package. It would convince me to buy it.

I agree it's hard to think of Metal Church without David Wayne, or Mike Howe, Craig Wells, Kirk Arrington, John Marshall or Duke Erickson, i love their music up to Hanging In The Balance, and i don't know what the deal is with why they're not on board now but it was always Vanderhoof's (Vanderhooves?) baby and even when he was no longer an official member it was still him that was writing so much of their crushing music.
Good luck to him.

I should try a Ronnie album though, can anyone recommend one?

No I cant recommend any of those LPs. One or two good tunes on the last one, but that guys voice is dog shit. Mike Howe or a new guy please, or at lease more than one orignal member. What happened this classic band!?

I thought the last three albums were pretty solid, especially Weight Of The World. Their best album overall (in my opinion) is Blessing In Disguise and their best song is In Mourning.

What do you mean, 'Mike Howe is not available'?

He's not dead. He could always decide he wants to give it another go.

Those last 3 albums with Ronny Munroe are not bad at all, to my ears. If you like Metal Church's guitar parts, you'll like those last 3 albums, esp. if you're looking for something new to you, maybe you didn't buy them yet, IDk.

However the latest Metal Church release, entitled, 'This Present Wasteland' is a bonafide Metal Hit!!!!!

I'm not being payed to write this, but I can tell you, that it came out in 2008, along with DMagnetic and Ac/Dc's Black Ice. At the time it got way more play than the MetallicA album from me and almost as much as the Ac/Dc album, from me.

The Perfect Crime is a classic and killer song on there.

Congregation is another (last song) and there's lots more in between to like, here on the latest Metal Church offering.

Lookin forward to the next album from Metal Church!!!!!!

Ronny Munroe is a sick vocalist in Metal Church & the first album is one of the greatest metal albums there is.

Metal Church reunion is fantastic! My favourite albums are their first and then the three latest. Best tracks imo are War Never Won (from This Present Wasteland), Madman's Overture (from Weight of the World), Watch the Children Pray (tribute to David Wayne from Light in the Dark). These are epic metal tracks, and anyone who hasn't listened to them hasn't heard what Ronnie Munroe has to offer. Kurdt's songwriting and guitar work are really excellent, and the show at 70,000 tons of metal was mind-blowing. Welcome back. Would love to hear new versions of Beyond the Black, Metal Church and Gods of War maybe as bonus tracks on a new album. Those are my favourites from the early days!
