P.O.D. To Perform At This Weekend's NFC Championship Game - Jan. 16, 2013
Christian hard rockers P.O.D. (PAYABLE ON DEATH) will perform during the halftime show at this weekend's Falcons vs. 49ers NFC Championship Game at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia. Catch P.O.D. performing their hit song "Higher" this Sunday, January 20 on FOX (game start time: 3 p.m. ET/PT).

P.O.D. is continuing to tour in support of its 2012 album, "Murdered Love", which sold more than 16,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 17 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band will join THREE DAYS GRACE and SHINEDOWN on a U.S. tour kicking off February 1 in Moline, Illinois.

"Murdered Love" was released on July 10, 2012 via Razor & Tie. The band's long-awaited follow-up to "When Angels & Serpents Dance" sees them reunited with longtime producer Howard Benson, who also produced the group's massive "Satellite" album as well as hit CDs for Kelly Clarkson, THEORY OF A DEADMAN, DAUGHTRY, THE ALL AMERICAN REJECTS and MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE. The CD cover and packaging was illustrated and designed by Invisible Creature, whose previous credits include the FOO FIGHTERS, NORMA JEAN, Chris Cornell and many more.

To be honest with you, the only thing that belongs on halftime to begin with is actual football analysis...just like the regular season. The only reason we even have these Super Bowl halftime shows to begin with is because of a stretch from the early-to-mid-80s to the mid-to-late-90s where the Super Bowls were so lopsided that in most cases the games were practically out of reach by halftime, so it was just another gimmick for the "casual" TV audience to keep watching a game that's already one-sided (during that stretch, the NFC had a 13-game Super Bowl winning streak over the AFC).
