TRIVIUM's New Album To Be Produced By DISTURBED Singer - Jan. 16, 2013
TRIVIUM bassist Paolo Gregoletto has confirmed to Metal Injection that the band's new album will be produced by DISTURBED/DEVICE frontman David Draiman at a studio in Austin, Texas.

In a recent interview with PitCam.TV, TRIVIUM frontman Matt Heafy stated about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band's next CD: "I can tell you we do have a title, we do have songtitles, we do have 20 to 25 songs demoed, we do have a producer, we do have a location, we do have an artist. Everything is set up — all the visuals and everything — but it's all secret. Hopefully it comes out the third quarter of next year. We're recording in January, February and March in Austin, Texas; that's all I can say [about] that. It's gonna be great; it's gonna be really, really great. It's too difficult to describe in metal adjectives, like 'heavy,' 'brutal,' melodic,' all this stuff, like every band does. Also, the classic phrase: 'our best album ever.' I can say that with 'In Waves', it was finally an album that all the fans of the previous four… We've got very divided fans: 'I just like 'Ember'.' 'I just like 'Crusade'.' 'I just like 'Ascendancy'.' 'I just like 'Shogun'.' Everyone could agree on 'In Waves'. And simultaneously, everywhere in the world, 'In Waves' received the biggest reaction. With the next record, people can expect the best parts of everything we've ever done across all five records on one."

TRIVIUM's latest album, "In Waves", sold 22,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 13 on The Billboard 200 chart — the highest U.S. chart entry of the band's career. The group's previous CD, "Shogun", opened with just under 24,000 units back in October 2008 to debut at No. 23. The effort followed up "The Crusade", which registered a first-week tally of 31,000 copies in October 2006 to enter the chart at No. 25.

This is utterly amazing news! Im sure many Trivium fans will anticipate this new music & be intrigued on how DD put his production fingerprints on it. Especially cool since they'll be rockin it in Texas. Matt - hit me up & lets go grab some good Tex-Mex in San Antonio.....

should be great, though I am a bit unsure about the production. Shogun and In Waves had great production, so I'm not sure why they're going with yet another producer instead of sticking to ones that have a proven track record. Or if you do want to just get a singer as a producer I hear Dave Grohl has a few minutes to spare between his 900 side projects

Each album has 3-4 really good songs on it but they always get bogged down in filler. Need a bit more consistency.

Not a fan of Trivium, but do think they get more abuse then they deserve.

They kind of seemed, at least to me, of trying to catch the latest popular vibe in metal rather than just being themselves and forging their own signature sound.

Seen them a few times open for some headlining band I really went to see. They were decent, not great, but not terrible either. But I do think they get more hate directed their way then they should. They seem like decent guys, singer comes across as having a good head on his shoulders, and there are certainly way worse bands than them. I wish them luck even though I probably will not buy their cd.

Talented guys but have not come close to finding an identity to call their own. They seem to have a fairly loyal fanbase of dudes who wear eyeliner however. And fat chicks. Lots of fat chicks in Trivium tees and lip piercings around.

I find it odd anyone has the balls to say they never found a sound of their own. I believe they found a sound of their own on just about every album spare The Crusade. They just never stuck w/ them from album to album. That's a big reason why I love Trivium b/c I've always been a fan of heavy bands evolving and not putting out the same album over and over again and honestly most of their output has been quite above average compared to most modern metal bands. When a Trivium song comes on, you know it's Trivium if you've given a big enough shit to notice before. The unfortunate part is b/c they got so successful so early on and there's so many 30-40 year olds on this site who are too TRVE to give any new music a chance, they get shit on more undeservedly than any other band.

Only in the metal scene a bunch of highly talented and hard-working youngsters mixing traditional heavy music with new elements can get a bad rep.

Draiman wasn't the obvious choice I gotta admit.
Everything Colin Richardson did for them was gold.

The kings of false metal, they shall be sentenced to wash Manowar's loincloths... with their tongues.

Everything Trivium represents flies in the face of what metal was in its heyday. Trivium:

- Whiny pseudo-intellectual lyrics
- Second-rate musicianship
- Angry music for fat lonely teenage girls, not rocking, cool music for hot college chicks
- Rejection of hyper-masculine image of heavy metal

Trivium blows. It's metal-by-numbers bullshit for posers. Adding another false metal "nu-metal" douche to produce will only compound their falsehood!!!

You're wrong Matt.
Every Trivium fan loves Shogun.
It is the most original album you guys have made so far.

Yeah. I don't know why they think people like In Waves? That was mostly shit. I left that one in the shops... hopefully I'll return to buying Trivium albums with this new one.
