RUSH: 'Clockwork Angels Live' DVD Not Coming Out In May - Jan. 16, 2013
According to MusicTAP, RUSH's "Clockwork Angels Live" DVD, which was last week erroneously reported to be scheduled for a May 21 release via Concord, does not yet have an official release date in place. However, it will likely arrive sometime in the fall.

RUSH captured the "Clockwork Angels" tour by filming in Phoenix and Dallas on November 25, 2012 and November 28, 2012, respectively. Reports at the time indicated that the Dallas show would be the primary source for the film, with the Phoenix footage used mainly as a backup.

The official Billboard Boxscore attendance and sales figures for the Phoenix and Dallas shows are as follows:

* Show Date: November 25
* Show Venue: US Airways Center
* City/State: Phoenix, AZ
* Attendance: 8,858
* Capacity: 10,121
* Gross Ticket Sales: $604,667

* Show Date: November 28
* Show Venue: American Airlines Center
* City/State: Dallas, TX
* Attendance: 10,509
* Capacity: 10,509
* Gross Ticket Sales: $764,483

The North American leg of the "Clockwork Angels" tour kicked off on September 7 at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire and wrapped on December 2 in Houston, Texas.

In addition to adding a lot of rarely played songs to their opening set, RUSH brought a string ensemble out on tour with the band for the first time ever in its career. Orchestrations provided by well-known arranger David Campbell were used on several tracks from the band's new album, "Clockwork Angels", and RUSH recreated that sound during the tour.

"Clockwork Angels" debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard album chart, selling 103,000 copies in its first week of release. The disc marked RUSH 's highest chart debut since 1993's "Counterparts", which also entered at No. 2.

Dallas sold-out? tickets were still being sold at 7:30PM, part of the upper balcony was covered by drapes, and some lucky people were being moved from the balcony to the floor, to fill gaps. my brother got such a free upgrade; to sec 11.

amazing show. but not sold out. hell, they sell over 18,000 for a Mavericks basketball game.

That's because 1/3 of the area and the floor aren't sold, as they don't play in the round.

Riot Act,

You call clockwork angels a masterpiece? Huh? I am a canadian rush fan and love the majority of their catalog. This may be their worst album since the 80's stuff. Just bad. Minimal catchy melodies or anything interesting vocally. Weak riffs. Shitty production. Just bland. Look at the review on amazon, and at least half the people who are fans are saying this is a very bad rush record. I just don't like the style of songwriting they do anymore. It doesn't seem inspired compared to their vintage work. They need Terry Brown to oversee things again, and a producer/engineer who makes them sound good on cd again.

Yes, masterpiece! Your opinion on a work of art is as subjective as RiotAct's and NOBODY cares whether you (or RiotAct for that matter) either like or dislike the record.

If you don't like the record, that's fine, and feel free to say so. But don't try to knock someone for liking it as if you're some kind of authority on taste.

The fact that this even has to be pointed out to you makes me wonder how old you are.

Rush was infallible until Test For Echo came out. They weren't perfect, but that's the album where the seams begin to show. Not even the legendary Peter Collins could turn that good record into the masterpieces they were known for.

They were an amazing hard progressive rock band and like most prog. rock bands, they were doing pop records by the mid-eighties and they were the best at it. They were on the cutting edge at the time, they never embraced the the dinosaur rock scene that had destroyed so many just a few years early, that is to say their PeW - Signals era would not have worked in the late 80's.

The newer stuff is mind boggling, yeah, there's a lot of people that don't like the VT - Current era. The production has been flawed on each one of those. CA has some MP3 sourced or really poorly recorded tracks mixed into studio tracks and it really sounds poor. They need to seriously rethink their production staff next time. Even the newest remasters, sectors, are botched in places.

I've been a musician and MAJOR Rush fan since 1979, seen them 23 times, can play half their catalog on drums and guitar, so I'm loyal and know every song in their catalog inside and out, they are brilliant and innovative. However, as was the case with Test For Echo, Vapor Trails, Snakes, and CA...after the initial excitement of buying a new Rush album as usual, it's back on the shelf, just can't get into the vocals or songwriting, outside of Caravan and maybe one or 2 others. I can't stand The Garden with it's long, bland, and overdone with sappy strings. The live show was great a few months back, but Ged's studio vocals don't have the melodic magic and great delivery he had from Fly By Night through Power Windows, which is their peak period (1975-1985). I'm burnt out on the whole "steampunk aesthetic" (whatever that is supposed to be, still not buying it). CA is great for 60 years old dudes, but not even close to being as good as anything from 1975-1985. Hold Your Fire was when small cracks starting showing. Of course, I'm splitting hairs because a mediocre Rush album is usually better than a great album by most other bands. They are still creative, but their direction is a bit bland. The Wrecker, BU2B2, and The Garden are low points for me, can't listen to them, any of these track would die a horrible death instantly if placed next to ANY track from Moving Pictures, AFTK, Hemispheres, PW, Signals, GUP, or Power Windows. You're mileage may vary.

I listened to it again today with a more open mind. In my personal opinion, being a rush fan, it is a weak album. I agree with most critical reviews of c.a. There is still great musicianship coming from Geddy and Neil, but not much value in what guitar legend Alex came up with. Most his stuff is noisy, reverby, and poorly written. He used to be so incredible,even in the studio. I don't get it. And Geddys vocals aare hit and miss. The vocal melodies are missing catchiness or originality on many tracks. I dare any of you c.a. Worshippers to try and sing back the verses and choruses on half the songs in key. Its weird stuff, and not good weird like old rush. Caravan is good, track seven is ok. C.angels is ok. Not much else. It might make a good enough 4 song e.p., but not a full length. Just my opinion. It was my letdown record of 2012.
