Authorized Replicas Of RUSH Guitarist's Hentor Sportscaster Axe To Be Made Available - Jan. 16, 2013
According to the RUSH fan site RushIsABand.com, Niagara On The Lake luthier Freddy Gebrsek has received permission from RUSH guitarist Alex Lifeson to create and sell replicas of his Hentor Sportscaster, which Alex used extensively during the early 1980s. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Grapes Under Pressure charity.

Commented Gebresek: "I have had the Hentor in my possession for about six months and have documented every property and detail of this amazing and unique-sounding guitar. Alex's only stipulation was that for every guitar sold, a portion of the profit goes to his charity Grapes Under Pressure.

"While in my possession over the last few months, I made suggestions to Alex on upgrading the guitar. The Hentor now sports Dimarzio FS-1 single coils and I also fabricated a huge brass sustain block for the Floyd Rose, the biggest one I've seen and yet there is still a good amount of movement available."

Makes you wonder how much they're going to go for though, since they're each being hand customised by the one bloke by the sounds.. But it would be well worth it I reckon.

The Hentor was the inspiration for the mods I made to my first "good" guitar in '84, a Kramer Focus 3000. Anybody remember those? I read now that they were made by the company that became ESP in Japan. Wish I still had it.
