OZZY OSBOURNE Back In The Studio Recording Vocals For New BLACK SABBATH Album - Jan. 7, 2013
Ozzy Osbourne has posted a new photo from a a Los Angeles studio where he is currently laying down vocals on the new BLACK SABBATH album. Check it out below.

As previously reported, BLACK SABBATH took part in a photo shoot on November 30 with famed British photographer/artist Sam Taylor-Wood.

BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi clarified the status of the band's new CD in an October interview with "The Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show". Although it has been reported that the band has recorded 15 songs, Iommi explained, "That's wrong . . . We've written 15 songs and we've played them all. But now, at the moment, we're recording them. We recorded them at my house first, in England, just as demos, but now we're doing them for real. So we're about six tracks in now, at the moment."

Iommi, Osbourne and bassist Geezer Butler are recording their first album together under the SABBATH name since 1978's "Never Say Die".

The drums on the disc are being handled by Tommy Clufetos, who has replaced founding drummer Bill Ward due to a contractual dispute between Ward and the rest of the group.

Asked if there is any chance of Ward rejoining the band, Iommi said, "We'll always have a heart for Bill, but I think it's gone past that now, because it's gone on so long that I don't see that happening at the moment. Maybe at some point we might [play together again]."

Meanwhile, SABBATH has announced an Australian tour for April and has also revealed that it will headline the first-ever Japanese version of Ozzfest on May 11-12, with SLIPKNOT also on the bill.

One side of me understands that Bill should be the least paid out of the four as he contributes the lease. But the other sides says these guys have made there nut. Is that hard to just say screw it and do an even split.

But I think Bill's health problems and another issue at hand. I'm not sure they believe he can go out and tour. One thing to play a show here and there and another to commit to maybe a 150 dates over two years.

The Metal Masters are here to stay. Ozzy rules, and anybody that says they would rather see Tony Martin singing is outta their fuckin' heads. I mean i'd rather see Black Sabbath play 'Wheels of Confusion' instead of 'Jerusalem' yknow.

I don't know, part of me would rather hear Jerusalem as it would be done justice, but Wheels Of Confusion is such a cool song... what about Martin doing both? I think I'd rather hear that... so long as Tony and Geezer are there, I'd be happy either way!

Those albums shouldn't have been called Black Sabbath, then Iommi could play shows for the Martin fanbase and there would be no confusion.

He's gonna need more than that bottle of "Vocal Ease" to get something decent sounding out of his voice.

Jethro Tull moved on without Iommi, and Black Sabbath is moving on without Ward. It's the exact same thing.

Hey guys guess what - Bill Ward is a 64 year old ex-alcholic, heart attack survivor. Do you really think he can cut it on drums for Sabbath today?

They can auto-tune Ozzy, but they can't prop up Bill in the studio and certainly not live.

But hell, let's not let reason or logic intervene when we can all just have a childish and ill-informed rant about how 'greedy' Tony, Geezer, and Ozzy are!

Fuck Rick Rubin! Who needs that hack why can't Tony produce the goddamn thing himself. Excited to hear the album and disappointed as fuck at the same time. Damn Bill fuck has to ruin everything! I don't care how old he is fucking Charlie Watts did countless shows last month! Get over the fucking politics and get behind the drum kit history in the making over here for fuck's sake!!

My nose bleeds every time I read that extensive quote from Iommi from nine years ago about the state of the album. 15 songs? Yeah? Six songs in? Yeah?

How about a snippet, or a new quote, something...a release date would be nice?

F**k.

Contractual issues aside, I hope Tommy Cluefetos is hammering Iommi's riffs into shape: hitting like a caveman, adding tons of swing and jazzy accents, and battling Geezer for dominance across every second of the new Sabbath album. Otherwise we might end up with generic heavy metal instead of the life-changing art that Sabbath used to specialize in.

I just read what Mike Patton said about a new Faith No More album and the risk to "squirt diarrhea all over their other works."

High risk for this album.

Sabbath is my all time favorite band, but I think this is not going to be good.

Go ahead and give me the thumbs down, but I've been predicting and maintain this will be subpar like Ozzy's last effort.

When Ozzy quit/fired from Sabbath and Ronnie stepped in they should've change the name then to Heaven & Hell. Then when RJD left change the name again. Nobody tarnished the name Black Sabbath more than Tony, not Sharon, not Ozzy, not Bill Ward. Greatest band in the world, turned out to be one of the biggest jokes in Music. I'll Never forget 11-11-11.

R.I.P. Black Sabbath

I was VERY upset initially about the Bill Ward thing, and then as time went on, talking to friends and metal fans about the issue I have to side with the folks who say just might not be up to the task. Maybe in mind but sadly not in body.
