SLAYER's 'Seasons In The Abyss' Like You've Never Heard It Before - Dec. 28, 2012

Swedish multi-instrumentalist Snowy Shaw (THERION, KING DIAMOND, DREAM EVIL, DIMMU BORGIR) makes a guest appearance on several tracks on "Révisionnisme", the third studio album from THE CNK, the French martial industrial/electronic black metal which features in its ranks Nicolas Saint Morand (a.k.a. Hreidmarr), the androgynous screamer behind ANOREXIA NERVOSA.

With the help of heavy industrial and authoritarian rhythmics, backed with Snowy and Hreidmarr über versatile voices, these 10 hits are crushed in THE CNK steamroller, to finally be born again as death and fight stadium anthems.

A covers album taking on famous pop, rock and metal standards, "Révisionnisme" features the following tracks:

One of Slayer's crown jewel songs.

I can appreciate how this song was covered in this industro-electro-sympho-nympho-gothic-fishnet way...they obviously master this way of playing music, technically and genre/style-wise...but I didn't like it, I didn't get excited, no matter how I tried. I'll stick to the original masterpiece. In fact, now I have to listen to the original in order to get past this horrible shit.

i'm surprised at how much attention this is getting, and how negative that attention is. i'm not wild about the slayer cover but it is quite different and pretty interesting. i actually prefer the crue cover but it is more straightforward.

Big fan of CNK and Anorexia Nervosa right here. If you've never heard either before I can see how off putting this could be haha. It's not a great cover (most covers aren't...) but it's what i'd expect CNK to do with a classic like Seasons In the Abyss.

"Ultra Violence Uber Alles" and "L'Hymn a la Joie" are both great albums though. Seriously, check 'em out. Especially Ultra Violence (Political Police, Jim Beamed Ahnenerbe TV, Kommando 96, Get a Gun Shoot at Random). Loud, violent, guitar driven metal/industrial stuff. Way better than what you heard here.

Great atmosphere, they took both songs and made them theirs, nothing wrong with that. I'm not a fan of the band and I loathe their cryptofascist elitistic intellectualoid fartistic attitude, not to mention the pathetic decadent look, but that was good indeed.
