BLACK SABBATH's TONY IOMMI Is 'Looking Forward To Next Year' - Dec. 21, 2012
BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi has posted the following year-end message on his official web site:

"What a year! Certainly not the one I was expecting.

"Thanks to you all for your massive help and support; it was very encouraging.

"I'm still working on the [new BLACK SABBATH studio] album and managed to play three shows. Not bad given the news a year ago.

"I'm looking forward to next year, seeing what you think of the record and touring as much as we're able.

"My best wishes to you all. I hope you have a great Christmas and New Year, most of all, stay positive."

Iommi underwent chemotherapy treatment earlier in the year after being diagnosed with lymphoma at the end of 2011.

The paperback version of Iommi's book. "Iron Man: My Journey Through Heaven And Hell With Black Sabbath", was released in the U.K. on November 8 through Simon & Schuster and in the U.S. on December 11 via Da Capo Press/Perseus Books. Iommi stated: "It's got new chapters bringing everything up to date, including my battle with lymphoma."

Released in hardback in November 2011, "Iron Man: My Journey Through Heaven And Hell With Black Sabbath", landed at position No. 35 on the New York Times "Hardcover Nonfiction" best sellers list.

I'm hoping for a good record, but I doubt it will be great. All of these older bands that are making new records just don't have the hunger or creative spark to make truly great records....that includes H&H (RIP RJD)

I generally agree, it is human nature, as artists and fans, to get bored/boring.

However, I love Follow The Tears, Bible Black and Atom and Evil, right up there with his best stuff, so if the new album has even one song to endure in my 'best of' mixes in the coming years, I'll be happy.

I also like Psycho Man, even if it was a bit of a half arsed effort. Slow heavy first half, mid/fast tempo ending, riffage reminiscent of Sabotage, not too shabby.

The Devil You Know was excellent and their touring was excellent.

For me H&H's TDYK was fantastic and was a natural progression of the last Dio era album released.

I have to agree with Billy. I wanted to love The Devil You Know, as those 4 guys were always my favorite lineup of Black Sabbath. But I gave TDYK only a few spins and lost interest quickly. It sure didn't help, though, that they shut Vinnie out of the writing process and just used him as a human drum machine.

I would say the older bands are more concerned with maintaining their lifestyles, than they are with making music. We've read countless interviews with bands at the beginning of their careers, talking about how they love to play and they just want to create music and perform it. That goes away after a bit of success, and eventually they only play music to make more money.

don't think it'll be able to top 'The Devil You Know', but still look forward to some heavy Iommi riffage, and Butler tearing it up on bass. Not the biggest Ozzy fan, but I do appreciate his contribution in the first 5 Sabbath albums so a small part of me does hope he can somehow recapture that magic

The fact TONY IOMMI took the time to send out a message to us all at the end of a difficult year - well, the man is well respected by myself. A LEGEND.

....ALL HAIL...BLACK SABBATH...!!!!

Hey Poop...you're such an ass, you know? A fucking troll. Posting three messages of the same shit? "Fritz" Iommi? What the fuck you mean by that? Iommi is not German nor a nazi, so your "Fritz" label demands explanation. Or better yet, don't explain anything. Just shut the fuck up and enjoy your Christmas wherever you are.

The last time i saw BS on ozzfest,Wards drumming was WAY better than Ozzy's singing. So i will borrow the new cd from the library. Will not support these greedy bastards who dumped there childhood friend over money.

It's the music business, and in business all that matters is who can generate the most revenue. Sharon controls Ozzy, the biggest draw despite being the weakest musician, and so Black Sabbath only partly reunites because Sharon thinks she can make more money via Ozzy in Sabbath right now. The music business has nothing to do with what the fans want, only with what the fans will pay for.

Glad to hear Tony is doing much better.
But all I want for Christmas is Bill Ward back on the Kit.

No Bill Ward = fake Sabbath reunion album/tour
Remember 11-11-11 press conference.
If Bill is incompetent tell us you can't hurt are feelings any worse. Don't think its a $$$$ issue.

So here we are about a year after the terrible news of Tony Iommi's cancer diagnosis, and today he is continuing work on his latest album and planning concerts for the new year. Looks like the best possible outcome is still on target, and we will have one last run for Black Sabbath. Sorry Bill Ward can't be there, but Tony Iommi is Black Sabbath.

But wouldn't Rob Halford be an awesome lead singer for sabbath if Priest take a long hiatus. probably would never happen but I don't see Ozzy sticking around for years to come and besides he's the weakest musician of their lineup anyway. Dio is next to impossible to replace but Halford might be the only one that can pull it off.

Yes it's true, no Bill Ward, no Black Sabbath. But no Tony Iommi equals no Heavy Metal in my book.

Get well soon Tony.

Saw Sabbath in 2005 and Ozzy sounded and looked great, it was a wonderful thing to witness. Saw him again last year and he just sounded horrible. Hopefully he just had a bad day.
