Music For New TOOL Album 'More Than Halfway' Done - Dec. 19, 2012
According to The Pulse Of Radio, TOOL's webmaster posted a lengthy message online this week in which he claims that the band may be "more than halfway" finished writing the music for their fifth studio effort. The webmaster wrote, "While riding with Danny [Carey, drums] to Chili John's yesterday, I heard a lot of new TOOL music (sans Maynard [James Keenan, vocals]). This was the most new material that I've heard so far, although a few of the riffs and arrangements were familiar."

He added, "Dare I say that it sounded like . . . TOOL (some of it reminiscent to earlier TOOL stuff, with other parts pushing the envelope), and I assume that it will sound even more like TOOL once the vocal melodies, etc. have been added. To answer your next question, I cannot say how far along in the writing process the band is. If I had to GUESS, I would say more than half way (and keep in mind that in the past, at least, the writing went faster once the first few [more complex] songs were finished)."

Earlier in the message, the webmaster writes that the band is confirmed to play the Japanese edition of Ozzfest in May 2013, hinting that other dates may be on tap as well. He also adds, "There are a couple of other TOOL projects on the horizon that I am privy to, but, unfortunately, can't comment on any further at this time . . . as was requested by the band's management."

TOOL's last album, "10,000 Days", came out in 2006.

Since that time the band has toured intermittently almost every year, while Keenan has spent the bulk of his time tending to his Arizona vineyard business and writing and recording two albums with PUSCIFER.

All we need now is for Maynard to pull his head out of his ass and we'll be good to go.

So that means another 6 years of waiting right? And to The Judge, It's not Maynard's fault that the band hasn't gotten any shit done. Tool is actually Adams band. If you've noticed, Maynard's put out two albums already since Tools last album, a few EPs, AND toured with ALL THREE of his projects. He's said countless times that the rest of the band writes the music and he writes lyrics. It's not his fault the rest of the band either cant get their shit together. What is he supposed to do? Sit around and wait?

He could be making another A Perfect Circle album instead of dicking around with a band that no one cares about.

I don't know if that is entirely true.

Maynard has said multiple times through the years he just takes a break from Tool and doesn't think about it until they're ready for him. But makes it clear he isn't doing shit with Tool on new music for quite a long time so don't have an album of music waiting for him six months after the tour ends.

I personally believe Maynard isn't exactly the easiest guy to tie down for something. He knows a new Tool album and tour basically takes away two years of his life. For a guy writing books, starting wineries, doing two other music projects, and god only know what else he has going on......Plus doesn't really like touring.....I'm sure he feels like Tool is life changing for a few years for him. It really does put everything else in his life on hold so I believe the other guys in Tool have a hell of a time getting him to commit.

Good point well made sir. Think I was turning into a troll there, thanks for getting me back on track.

New TOOL is good I just hope they reign in the arrangements a bit more this time.

That's right. Everyone's an idiot because they don't like what you like. We should all have this same mentality towards everything. (Sarcasm)

No doubt about it, I'm on Blabbermouth.

They peaked a long time ago.
All else will be a steady decline...

I just hope it sounds like Aenima and before. Everything else after that really doesn't do it for me.

Also, when Tool goes on tour....don't put Meynard in the back behind a screen either. I get the avant garde thing they were trying for, but it was way cooler when he was up front staing into everyone's soul.

Hopefully Maynard steps up to the plate and writes some good melodies. The music for the last couple albums was great but the vocal melodies brought everything down.

^^^
bill hicks---aenima

y;know--before he died--he was a "true liberal" at heart==
like the kind that likes weed, chicks, fun, peace, truth

in the early 90s he broke through--and shook up reality perception through awesome comedy

part of that wave of shit that clinton took advantage of to get elected
----
then waco happened///

instead of being a blind clinton zombie bitchass (like gamblor) he took a stand--called out the atf,govt---and stated the obvious--

that waco was fucked up --and we'd better deal with it

he was a "true liberal" and not just some cunt who was trying to bring in the u.n. death state==saying he was a liberal on tv

soon after he was dead==but he left a legacy-that is good to ponder for "regular stoner types"

...that nobody understands the frivolity of Double Shit-Talkin Jive's comments. The guy is mucking around; winding you up. But everyone here seems to think he's being completely serious. He must be getting such a kick out of the response you lot are giving him. So am I, actually.
