Former HOLY TERROR Vocalist KEITH DEEN Dead At 56 - Dec. 16, 2012
Keith Deen, former vocalist of 1980s Los Angeles thrashers HOLY TERROR, died on Thursday, December 13 after a three-month battle with cancer. He was 56 years old.

HOLY TERROR was formed in the mid-1980s by Kurt Colfelt (a.k.a. Kurt Kilfelt; ex-AGENT STEEL) and ex-DARK ANGEL drummer Jack Schwarz, who left before the release of the band's first album, 1987's "Terror And Submission". A follow-up effort, "Mind Wars", was issued in 1988.

Stated Colfelt: "With the loss of Keith Deen, a part of me is gone as well."

After resurrecting HOLY TERROR in 2005, Colfelt revealed that he "attempted to get in touch" with Deen about having him front the band again but that Keith's non-response was a clear signal that the singer was not interested in taking part in the group's reunion.

A HOLY TERROR DualDisc release, "El Revengo", came out in 2006 through the U.K.-based label Blackend Records. The DVD side on the DualDisc featured live footage as well as the "Judas Reward" video.

This sucks. Mind Wars was just incredible. Keith had such a cool vocal style & his phrasing was totally unique to the genre. A real loss to the metal community :(

I out of nowhere just had the urge to listen to these guys yesterday. That was the first time in close to 20 yrs I have even thought of them. Just yet another weird occurance in a string of synchronicities I've had in the last 6 months. Maybe it's the conscious shift that's happening...great band, underrated....see you on the other side brother.

Since seeing Holy Terror open for D.R.I. in 88 I never stopped listening to them. Deen was a vital factor to what made this band so damn unique and at the same time so damn amazing. When they did their short lived reunion a few years ago, I held out hope that Deen would resurface and at least join in for a song or two. Very very sorry to hear this news tonight.

if I am asked to give an example about why commercial success does not necessarily mean quality, my answer would be holy terror

these guys really kicked major ass, deep inside I always hoped for the release of a third album, this was not meant to be

RIP brother, thanks a lot for the great time I spent blasting out terror and submission and mind wars through my speakers as a teenager

The melodic yet fucking aggresive speed / thrash metal played by Holy Terror was amazing.
Keith's vocals really suited the bands music and got me into serious headbanging sessions with my buddies while screaming along with the lyrics.

My condolences to his family and friends.

RIP Keith Deen.

Holy Terror were one of my all time favourite thrash bands. They had a unique style, which was certainly due to Keith Deen's vocal style. So melodic and odd -total classic.
Sure, the lightning speed guitar work was out of this world, as were the lyrics. But Keith made the difference with bands such as Death Angel, Dark Angel, Violence, Exodus, Agent Steel, Heathen, Forbidden etc etc.

Sorry to see you leave so early, Keith. Hope you are at peace.
Thanks a lot for the great music back in the day

Wow. That is way too young. This is some really horrible news to wake up to. Along with Kreator and D.R.I., Holy Terror was the first Thrash gig I ever saw in'88. It was one thermonuclear show!

'Mind Wars' is one of the most unique Thrash albums ever made. Blistering fast riffs, screeching rapid fire Punk vocals and technical bass playing like prog bands from the 70's like Rush, Yes and King Crimson. Essential in any serious Metal collection. Highly recommended!

My sincerest condolences goes out to his friends and family.

RIP Thrash brother.

A great band that never got the recognition it deserved , Mind Wars for me back then and still today is the most criminally underated record in thrash metal history .
Thanks for sharing your talent , you'll not be forgotten .
