ROBERT PLANT Sidesteps Question About LED ZEPPELIN Reunion On 'Sunday Morning' - Dec. 16, 2012
In a preview of Anthony Mason's CBS-TV "Sunday Morning" interview with the British rock band LED ZEPPELIN, singer Robert Plant addresses Mason's questions about a possible reunion of the group. Check it out below. Also available is a performance clip of the song "Black Dog" from the band's recently released "Celebration Day" DVD.

The entire interview will air this morning (Sunday, December 16) on CBS-TV's "Sunday Morning".

During LED ZEPPELIN's October 9 press conference at New York's Museum Of Modern Art following the screening of "Celebration Day", John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham were respectful to the writers and reporters, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant were clearly annoyed that they genuinely wanted to know if the band is considering any new work or concerts. According to The Pulse Of Radio, Page and Plant would respond to any reunion questions by staring the reporter down — Plant alternately pretended to snore and even called a reporter from The Associated Press a "schmuck" for asking about the future of LED ZEPPELIN.

Page and Plant — who, while hawking their five-year-old reunion concert CD/DVD — couldn't be bothered to honestly answer the press, who tried gamely to play along with the fact that they were supposed to ignore the 300 pound gorilla in the room, which was that LED ZEPPELIN were right in front of them and NOT making music. At one point Page tersely answered a reporter's reunion question. "Well, look; at this time four years ago, we'd have been rehearsing to get to the O2," he said. "In December it'll be five years since the O2. So, that's a number of years that pass in between, so that seems unlikely, if there wasn't a whisper, or a hint that we would get together to do something or other. I'd say even two years ago, or whatever. Seems pretty unlikely, that's what I think."

Rock writer Bill Flanagan, the editorial director MTV Networks, served as the moderator and gently coaxed Plant into finally answering the reunion question with a bit of respect for the reporters in the room. "We were so happy that we were actually gettin' it right [coughs] and taking it beyond what we thought we were about that night," he said. "There were moments in it where we just took off and pushed off in some place. The responsibility of doing that four nights a week for the rest of time is a different thing. 'Cause, we're pretty good at what we do; the tail should never wag the dog. If we're capable of doing something in our own time that will be what will happen. So any inane questions who are from syndicated outlets [laughs], you should just really think what it takes to answer a question like that in one second, y'know? We know what we've got."

It would have happened by now.
With every journalist looking to be the first with an exclusive, I bet they're sick of being asked about it.

many times do they have to answer the same question? why wouldn't they get pissed having to say the same thing every time? look everybody wants them to but if they haven't by now they aren't going to. as Page said if they were going to do it you would have heard of it by now,how would keep something like that a secret? they are not going to announce a reunion on a Sun. morn. tv show!

I guess my comment didnt post. Assuming it didn't. Robert Plant has moved on. He obviously has issues with the other guys in a band setting. He talks about being friends with them when they arent playing. Page has said in other interviews he wanted LZ to play again and he wants to perform in some capacity. I think the uncomfortable look on the other guys faces is fear of what the question to Robert will bring. And they wouldnt like Bobby when he's angry

I'm not Plant, and I'm sick of hearing about a fucking reunion. Go buy the CD's, DVD's Blue Ray's and whatever else you can find from the o2 and shut up already.

I don't need a Zep reunion for my life to be complete, but it would be nice.
That said, these guys are doing interviews peripheral to LZ and then Plant is getting annoyed by questions about a reunion?
That's some rock star bullshit right there.
...and how did Robert Plant get such a rock star attitude? Oh, that's right - he once did a blue-grass record with Allison Krause.

Our lives are complete without ever having seen the Beatles play live, or Jimi Hendrix, or [fill in your favorite dead guy here].

Arguably a Led Zeppelin reunion is impossible anyway due to one guy being dead. While having his son on his drum stool is the closest possible way to reunite the original band, John Bonham still can't perform with them.

Robert Plant got his rock star attitude from the same place every other singer gets it from. Name one front man in a rock band who doesn't think the whole band should play or retire based on his choice?

I don't blame these guys for snapping once in awhile. Imagine being asked the same fucking question every day for 30+ years?

They're not being asked to go fuck a fat man with maggots crawling out of his anus, they're being asked to do a handful if shows as the greatest band to ever walk the face of the Earth.
They'll be coddled and worshipped and have every whim taken care of ...hardly any maggots on their cocks at all.
I don't see why, after being asked this for so long it doesn't strike Plant as possibly a 'not half bad' idea.

So if they do a handful of shows, that will be it. They won't be asked about it again? A handful of shows will not give everyone a chance, so people will complain that their city didn't get a show. Then after they'll be asked when they're going to do a new album. It will never end.

If you don't want to be asked questions, why continue to do interviews? They went on Letterman and couldn't have been less interesting. Just saw the profile on CBS. They are a bore, because they won't really talk about anything. It's disrespectful to the person giving you publicity, who clearly can only ask the same 3 questions as the other interviewers.

Every band on the planet gets asked questions they don't want to answer. That doesn't mean you don't do the interview.

i think a lot of you are repeating what you hear, as i dont really want to see a full on tour or album. i would also say, most of you were not alive or were into Zep when JB passed away, they said then and have been true to their word, that it couldnt go on, nothing has changed in over 30 years, the only band to do as such, hell, no one clamored for a beatles reunion, and you cant now with two passed on. leave the legacy intact, get the O2 disc and get on with your life as well, there are other bands to listen to. i am about to go buy their entire catalog just because they are not changing their position, that is integrity. this latest thing is for the O2 disc, its not about feeling the waters...MUYA!!!!

Plant should of just said no comment and got up and left the interview! Pretty sure Robert , Jimmy & John Paul Jones are sick & tired of being asked the question" "So when are you gonna tour again etc" for 32+ years! They ain't gonna do it! John Bonham cannot be replaced. Simple as that!

Everyone knows the answer to the reunion question already.
Like the definition of insanity - making the same mistake over and over again, expecting different response...
The guy is a shmuck for not getting it.
Plant's answer was a good one.

If I was in a postion where my occupation could potentially generate millions upon millions exponentially for whatever cause. I think that would be the ulimate gift to society and I would be so dam grateful. It would be selfish of me not to do anything.

I would put whatever fears/differences that I may have aside and at least do some performances for worthy causes. This would put a lot of smiles on peoples faces that helped put me in that position and together we could share in helping the less fortunate while cranking some Zep tunes.

I was excited when they released CODA. They actually have done more stuff with LZ than I thought they would. Remaster the old stuff and let Bonzos era stuff be the closing out.

Zeppelin is making the right choice, they know what they're doing, are well aware of what they've done, and how freakishly good Zeppelin was. These are the actual brilliant minds that created Led Zeppelin, so I trust their judgement, let them do as they please, they obviously know better than we do about all things Zeppelin.

Plus, let's face it, it must be hugely annoying to get asked THE SAME FUCKING QUESTION EVERY DAY, when they've already given the answer! Plus, part of the answer is that THEY DID REUNITE AND GAVE US A KILLER Blu-Ray and CD RELEASE with Celebration Day, what more do you want from these guys already! However, they are gentlemen and still handle it with good humor. Must be great to be loved as much as they are, they fucking EARNED IT. MAD FUCKING RESPECT TO LED ZEPPELIN, the best band of all time.
