PAUL DI'ANNO: U.S. Tour In Jeopardy - Dec. 15, 2012
Former IRON MAIDEN singer Paul Di'Anno's previously announced U.S. tour appears to be in jeopardy due to the fact that he has has yet to secure a proper working visa to be able to enter the country.

In a posting on on his Facebook page, Paul writes: "Having waited several months for the U.S. visa to be organized by the booking agent/visa agency in the U.S., and still not got any confirmation, it seems highly unlikely the tour shall start as planned. This situation is entirely beyond our control. Hopefully any dates that can't be made can be rescheduled, but again, this is down to the booking agency to arrange. There shall be news in the coming days of the latest progress (if any) on here, as soon as it is received."

Di'Anno completed his first North American tour in early 2010, 17 years after he was deported following a prison term for guns and drug offenses.

On August 27, 2011, Di'Anno played his first show since serving time in a U.K. prison after he falsely collected U.K. government benefits by claiming he suffered nerve damage to his back that prevented him from working.

Due to a number of health issues, including a knee problem which will require surgery soon, Di'Anno announced in July that he will stop touring next year.

Michael Salenius, Di'Anno's Swedish booking manager and tour manager, told BLABBERMOUTH.NET that next year will be "a big, fantastic" last touring year for Paul, with a lot of solo shows, festival appearances and Di'Anno vs. Blaze Bayley concerts. You will also see various guest musicians joining Paul on stage.

Di'Anno recorded two classic albums with IRON MAIDEN before being fired and replaced by Bruce Dickinson. He went on to front a number of other bands, including KILLERS and BATTLEZONE, and released several solo records.

Paul has had many issues w/ getting into the U.S. over the years, due to him having warrants out from years ago from drugs/guns. He is better off staying overseas and doing shows there! Won't have the law after him when he enters a place. Unlike the U.S.

There were a couple of idiots on another Di'anno post saying that he was a better frontman than Dickinson. It was probably one of those head injury victims.

It was far more of a shock that Fat Paulie got into the US a few years ago to tour with Iron Maiden tribute bands, than it is this current tour being in jeopardy. Now he has yet another criminal conviction on his record, although I don't suppose stealing disability checks would cause visa issues.

So, understand, don't waist your time always searching for those waisted years. Go back to Brazil Fat Paulie, there is no time machine to take us to 1980.

OF FUCKING COURSE.

I, like an idiot, got a ticket to see him because I'm a Maiden fanatic and I figure this will be the last chance I'll have to see him.

I know his show's not that great and his voice is shot, but he's still a legend. Oh well...we'll see if he gets this cleared up.

Di Anno's voice is not shot. I saw him live in '10 and he played the Maiden songs perfectly, plus most people dont even know about his other band Battlezone, that band ruled and he played a couple of songs from the battlezone LPs. Its too bad Di Anno cannot seem to put together a solid band like Blaze has.

should've thought of that before you threatend that girl with a knife/gun in a coke-fueled rage in LA back in the day, Paul. Shit like that has consequences.

Not to mention that sad welfare check conviction, tsk tsk tsk.

Action - Reaction.
It's simple.

Paul has always been one of my favorite metal vocalists. The first two Maiden records are absolutely legendary, timeless slabs of classic heavy metal, partly due to Paul's killer voice in all its attitude and conviction. Nobody can ever take that away from him.

With his voice still in awesome form, Paul delivered the goods some more with Battlezone and Killers (though I hated how he tried to be Phil Anselmo on Killers' second album). He made his mark there as well, albeit to much less acclaim.

Sadly, however, Paul has reduced himself to a hack by now. The man just couldn't get his shit together. What a far, far cry from the overachieving Bruce Dickinson.

nothing like them in the history of metal.

the same cannot be said for many later albums.

i would pay to see him, even if he's pale semblance of his 1980s self.

I'm tired of so-called rockstars blaming everyone else. Especially this dude. Hey, Paul, it's 2012, not 1980!

If he wanted to tour the US bad enough, he would have checked up on this type of stuff to make sure he's good to go.

Best of luck with that. After pulling out of last summer's tour with Icarus Witch and Cauldron at the last minute he'll have a challenge with convincing booking agencies for future North American tours that he can commit to a full tour.
