JOE PERRY Says AEROSMITH May Have Recorded Their Last Album - Dec. 10, 2012
According to The Pulse Of Radio, Joe Perry says that AEROSMITH's new "Music From Another Dimension!" album could be the band's last. While talking to Noisecreep, Perry spoke about the recent release, explaining, "We knew we had another record in us, despite what many said, and I make no bones about it, I don't know if we're gonna make another record."

He addressed the fact that over the past few years tensions between the bandmembers reached a fever pitch. "Our disagreements are what make us dynamic," he said. "If we all thought the same way, nothing good would happen, but even after we argue, we don't take it home. It's one of the things that allowed us to get back together. We'll argue things to death, but we deal with it, figure it out and move on. There's too much life out there to waste time being like kids in high school. We had a meeting yesterday over a video, it got really heated, but then went down to look at Steven's [Tyler, vocals] motorcycle. All was fine. Then it was like, what are you doing tonight?"

Perry was pressed as to how "Music From Another Dimension!" stacks up against other AEROSMITH albums. "In order to compare, you have to not like something else," he said. "So I'll pick what I don't like and work my way up. I really didn't like 'Done With Mirrors'. I really didn't like 'Just Push Play'. Then there are other records I really think we're good for their time, like 'Toys (In The Attic') and 'Rocks'. I still listen to those and I put this one in that category of a record I will continue to listen to a lot. I can't get enough of this one."

Perry says that even taking their already 40-year-career into account — there's no reason that AEROSMITH can't be rocking onstage for decades still to come. "I think that the band has to look at what it takes to do this gracefully," he said. "There's no reason why the band can't keep playing until we can't walk. There's just no reason. You just have to know that you can't do certain things anymore. Y'know, you can't do somersaults on stage, you can't do, y'know, swing from ropes. But there are other things you can do that are just as entertaining — like sing, play."

AEROSMITH performs on Tuesday (December 11) at Tampa, Florida's Tampa Bay Times Forum and wraps its 2012 dates on Thursday (December 13) at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena.

From what I have heard, it kinda sucks. Seems to me like publicity to get people to buy it. "I should it buy it, it might be their last one"... No thanks.

Btw, the skin on Joe's face looks tighter than the heads on Joey's drums. I wonder if he can close his eyes when he sleeps...

Ehh, whatever.

How many times can die-hard fans get duped by the "We're finally getting back to our roots!" talking point?

This album had a few nuggets of hard rock gold, but not enough. Not even Jack Douglas can save this band.

It's been a nice ride, but time to move on.

The last true all-balls rock and roll Aerosmith album was "Night in the Ruts". I borrowed the new CD over the weekend and listened to it numerous times to make sure my first impression (pop-tinged, cash-grab, overhyped garbage) was correct. It was.

I saw them last night in Sunrise FL. Say what you want about their age, the last record, etc...those 5 boys from Boston still kick more ass than anyone.

There was a post a week ago, saying this wasn't the last ASmith album. Very reactionary...but as mentioned by many, they are at the end of their rope. This new CD makes Just Push Play sound heavy. an utter pop album, with a couple of rockers. LuvXXX stands out...why the outside writers, Diane Warren again, and Carrie Underwood, is beyond me. They've completely conceded, become an American Idol style band.

before bslash review I thought was ok but now that I know he hates it has become one of my favorites. just a shame when a band puts out music people like and buy,yep nothing says sell out like selling records according to him.

have at it. Sales, good or bad, is never a barometer of a good album. If it's a quality album, and sells, fantastic. If its pop crap, it's rubbish. Who cares if it's selling to the Brittney Spears generation. you're into Carrie Underwood? Another Diane Warren ballad. Come on Laggerlugger. raise the bar.

what fan of Aerosmith's classic rock albums are digging this?

I LOVED "done with mirrors". It had the old vibe of bluesy Aerosmith. It has that raw unpolished "pre-MTV" sound. I think it was produced by Ted Templeman (old Van Halen, Doobie bros.) As others have posted, this last album is a bad way to end...

put it on today, you'll retract your comment. I loved it when it came out, it was new ASmith, good enough. but if you listen to it today, its #1, not bluesy, and its just unprofessional. I appreciate raw(which would be their first record, or Night in the Ruts), but this is like a demo, which even they admit. Slapped together quickly, recorded poorly. There's raw, and there's mailing it in.

the songs? try getting through The Hop, Gypsy boots, Sheila, for example. rubbish. half baked riffs, Tyler's worst lyrics. He has again also admitted this...My fist your face could have been worked up to be better, but overall, it doesn't stand up. Its an album of a lot of filler, and terrible production(sorry Ted Templeman).

I do like Rock in a Hard Place. some good songs. bad production, Tyler shredded and wasted, but had they had their act together, could have been a very good album.

Done with Mirrors sucked and Ted Templeman was an average producer who gets too much credit. Fair Warning, ones of VH's best, was great because of the band, but the production is terrible.

with the Smith is they have alienated their fan base. The pre 1980 crowd against the 1986/87 crowd. Being a huge fan I own everything but I am hard pressed to listen to anything after Done With Mirrors. I will not go see the Smiths (unless I dont have to travel,I dont live in a major market, our arena holds 9000). The set lists I have seen seem to be mostly post 1987 songs. The MTV crowd doesn't care anymore. 70000 in sales first week is pathetic. This is supposed to be the greatest band the U.S. has ever produced.People should be falling all over themselves to get Aerosmith product. There not. But boy when it was good, it was the best.

is that if this new one from another dimension is the best they got, then I hope it is the last. They've have been putting out sub-par shit ever since Pump. And this one is almost worse than Just Push Play. They should be ashamed of themselves, working with Jack, telling people it's gonna be classic. I even like Get A Grip & Nine Lives better than this. I am just embarassed by how weak this material is. WAY too many fuckin' ballads, that just pisses me off. Luckily for them I didn't waste my $ on this junk. Too bad they aren't smart and decide to make a heavy album again like KISS does.
