JASON BONHAM Interviewed On BIG 100.3 (Audio) - Dec. 5, 2012
Lisa Berigan of Big 100.3, Washington D.C.'s home for bigger and better classic rock, recently conducted an interview with Jason Bonham. Jason discussed the release of LED ZEPPELIN's "Celebration Day", which documents the band's 2007 concert at London, England's O2 Arena, and the creation of the critically acclaimed concert JASON BONHAM'S LED ZEPPELIN EXPERIENCE which celebrates the life and music of his father, the legendary LED ZEPPELIN drummer John Bonham. You can now listen to the chat below.

Jason played with Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones at LED ZEPPELIN's "final" show at London's O2 Arena in 2007. The O2 Arena show was heralded as the most powerful LED ZEPPELIN performance since the group's original disbandment. The band received uniformly rave reviews the epic night finally saw a worldwide theatrical release titled "Celebration Day" in 1,500 screens in 40 territories beginning October 17.

"Performing my father's songs at the LED ZEPPELIN 02 reunion concert in 2007 was an honor that I will forever remember as one of the most bittersweet, yet greatest nights of my life," said Jason. "I'm over the moon that the 02 concert is finally be available for all ZEPPELIN fans to enjoy. That special night was the original spark that ignited JASON BONHAM'S LED ZEPPELIN EXPERIENCE."

He added, "[JASON BONHAM'S LED ZEPPELIN EXPERIENCE] is a personal trip through my life with the music of LED ZEPPELIN and how their music influenced me."

I hear you, man. I've been listening to the album quite a bit myself. What they all did that night needn't be improved upon or elaborated. I saw the movie in the theaters twice before it was released. It made me feel so proud as a fan to be able to see the gig properly.

They managed to accomplish a little of everything: honoring Bonzo and Ahmet Ertegun, sticking close enough to the original arrangements yet somehow still stretching, growing... Having glimmers still of how Zeppelin, if still in the active, present day, would sound.. They still have that improvisational magic to draw on if they want to.

It gave everyone an opportunity to redeem themselves, somehow, especially Jason, who finally got to show the world how far he's come as a drummer in his own right.

They needn't do anything more, live. They capped that all off as well as they could. Respect.

I'm so conflicted on this... On one hand I respect them protecting the legacy and not carrying on as Led Zeppelin post John Bonham. On the other hand, I'd freaking kill to see them live...

Celebration Day is amazing, the whole band sounds great. Him in BCC is great too, cool to see him doing some writing on the album. Him and Joe should've done more singing on the album though.

I loved it that Jason chimes in on background vocals during "Good Times Bad Times" ("The best I can!") and during "Misty Mountain Hop". I can only imagine how many zillions of emotions and thoughts were going through his head when it came time for him to play the Zeppelin gig at the 02. You have all the reason in the world to be proud of your playing on 'Celebration Day', Jason. Thanks for bringing it and somehow bringing your father back again through the music, you and John Paul, Jimmy & Robert..

JPJ stole the show when Zeppelin went on 'Letterman' the other night. When he imitated playing bass to "The Immigrant Song" I almost pissed my pants! John Paul Jones Rules!
