Yamaha Artist Services Burbank (
YASB) hosted iconic bass player
Billy Sheehan and over 40 of his fans during
Billy Sheehan Attitude Bass Day. Fans from across the United States and as far away as Korea and Japan attended the free, daylong event, which featured performances, a question-and-answer session, socializing and a BBQ buffet.
Billy spent the entire day answering questions and telling road stories from his days with
David Lee Roth and
MR. BIG. A Yamaha artist for over 25 years,
Sheehan also shared many technical playing tips along with insights into his musical influences and his relationship with
Yamaha.
"
Billy did a great job putting on a show and the fans were incredibly appreciative," said
Ken Dapron, Director,
Yamaha Artist Services Burbank. "His stage presence reinforced his rock icon status, while the time and dedication he showed to his fans revealed that he is also a humble teacher with a great sense of humor."
With over 20 of
Sheehan's custom and stock Yamaha basses on display, the event was as much a history lesson as a clinic.
Billy explained the importance of when and where they originated as well as what tours and recordings he used them on.
Yamaha guitar artist
Phil X and
Yamaha drum artist
Russ Miller joined
Sheehan on stage for a musical performance.
Yamaha,
DiMarzio,
RotoSound and
Hartke raffled door prizes to the appreciation of those in attendance, who also had the opportunity to buy a personally autographed
Yamaha Attitude 3,
Billy's signature bass, for a special price.
