IRON MAIDEN Bassist Releases 'Us Against The World' Video - Nov. 28, 2012
"Us Against The World", the new video from IRON MAIDEN bassist Steve Harris, can be seen below. The song comes off his first-ever solo release, "British Lion", which sold around 3,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 3 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"British Lion" was released in the U.S. on September 25 via Universal Music Enterprises (UMe). Mixed by Kevin Shirley — whose credits include IRON MAIDEN as well as Led ZEPPELIN, JOURNEY and RUSH, among many others — the CD, which features Harris alongside vocalist Richard Taylor, guitarists Graham Leslie and David Hawkins and drummer Simon Dawson, presents a different side of the bassist's musical visions.

"British Lion" comprises ten songs that Steve and his collaborators have been working on between IRON MAIDEN tours and releases and is described by Harris as "'70s-influenced, British-sounding hard rock." "I'd say it's more mainstream rock than metal... and quite commercial… but good commercial," he said. "There's all kinds of stuff going on, with nods to THE WHO and UFO and some classic British rock bands, but it's not the progressive rock album some might be expecting."

"British Lion" track listing:

01. This Is My God
02. Lost Worlds
03. Karma Killer
04. Us Against The World
05. The Chosen Ones
06. A World Without Heaven
07. Judas
08. Eyes Of The Young
09. These Are The Hands
10. The Lesson

It's ok up until the chorus, and then the apparent lack of vocal power shows. I think this song could have been pretty good, if had been done right.

you said it all! no vocal power at all. When you have a band with Bruce Dickinson.. at least find someone who can sing on a side project!

Pretty pathetic. Lead guitar player with a Jackson similar to that of Adrian Smith, and a weak singer. But of course all that really matters here is bass which is clearly dominant in the mix)

it is funny how they play their organs in the video like it is a metal song. Steve is almost headbanging to a pop song.

I understand that he needs to do something else besides maiden in his life just to doze of, but this is totaly wrong. He for a change might try doing singing himself or play drums on a jazz band hehe

As much as Steve Harris can be the mastermind behind one of the biggest bands on the planet, he still makes bad decisions from time to time:
-Producing Maiden albums
-Blaze Bailey
-Solo project

He will of course be remembered for all the great decisions he made:
-Firing Paul Di'Anno
-Hiring Bruce Dickinson
-Bringing Bruce back after Blaze
-Writing some of the best EPIC METAl songs ever.

...and compared to a similar tally for lar$ ulrich's good vs bad decision, steve does very well for himself! if only lulu had been a lar$ solo album. that is how to get this stuff off your chest, no making it a met or maiden official product

Di'Anno wasn't fired. He left the band due to Maiden going in a more metal approach.

What's the point of releasing a solo album if you're not going to handle the Vocals?

It's pretty commercial compared to Maiden but perhaps that was the point?, the Vocalist, at least on this song, is pretty weak, I'll reserve further judgement til I get a chance to listen to the entire CD.
