TODD LA TORRE-Fronted Version Of QUEENSRŸCHE Performs In Hollywood (Video) - Nov. 25, 2012
Fan-filmed video footage of the Todd La Torre-fronted version of QUEENSRŸCHE performing last night (Saturday, November 24) at the House Of Blues in West Hollywood, California can be seen below.

The band's setlist was as follows:

01. Queen Of The Reich
02. Speak
03. Walk In The Shadows
04. The Whisper
05. En Force
06. Child Of Fire
07. Warning
08. The Needle Lies
09. Prophecy
10. Roads To Madness
11. I Don't Believe In Love
12. My Empty Room
13. Eyes Of A Stranger

Encore:

14. Take Hold Of The Flame
15. Jet City Woman
16. Silent Lucidity
17. Empire

QUEENSRŸCHE has tapped James "Jimbo" Barton — the man who engineered and mixed the band's classic 1988 album, "Operation: Mindcrime", and its 1990 follow-up, "Empire", and co-produced 1994's "Promised Land" — to helm the group's brand new studio CD, tentatively due in early 2013 via an as-yet-undetermined record label. The recording process for the effort will begin in early December, and according to La Torre — who is also a member of Florida melodic metallers CRIMSON GLORY — "no outside writers have been used." He adds, "This is QUEENSRŸCHE's writing and we're proud to introduce the next chapter of the legacy."

In a recent interview with Metal-Rules.com, QUEENSRŸCHE drummer Scott Rockenfield stated about how the addition of La Torre and guitarist Parker Lundgren has affected the musical direction of the band's new material. "I think we've just found a good chemistry between the five of us," he said. "I mean, Michael [Wilton, guitar], Eddie [Jackson, bass] and I have had chemistry for such a long time, and Parker has been with us now for many years, playing our old material. And we're always thinking and looking at the future, and we've talked about what to do and how to do it, and rolling Todd into the equation, he's just stepped in and fit the role of what QUEENSRŸCHE wants to achieve and what we wanna do."

He added, "The proof will be in the pudding when everybody can hear it when it finally comes out. But I think our fans are gonna be really pleasantly surprised and they're gonna have something that I think they're gonna consider some good work by us that they've been missing for quite a while."

After he was fired from the band in June, singer Geoff Tate announced that he intends to tour with his own version of QUEENSRŸCHE that includes bassist Rudy Sarzo, drummer Bobby Blotzer, guitarist Kelly Gray and keyboardist Randy Gane.

Queensryche -- House of Blues, Hollywood, California

Geoff Taint -- JC's Washington House Bar & Grill, Somerton, Pennsylvania

You decide who is doing better.

Seems they are both playing clubs to me and Tate is playing as a solo act not as QR. I notice every time there is a change to a high pitch LaTorres voice cracks and can't handle it. Not bad for a QR tribute bad though.

There is a guy on You Tube named Will Shaw who can belt these songs out 10x better than this guy and would have been a much better replacement. Check it out, worth a listen.

By playing better venues and singing and playing in the original key. Well, I've got my own key. The key to the biggest vineyard on the planet. And a wardrobe of vests.

Such juvenile lyrics. The 81% of mine far outweighs the 19% professional ascent on here.

Oh god I'm crying. It's just another insania night without you.

Those vids have me stoked. Saw Reich at House of Blues for Dedicated to Chaos tour. If they kept things as they were and created DtoC part 2, I wouldn't have been interested in buying the cd or tickets to a concert.

It is good to see these guys rockin as a band. La Torre sounds good, and they obviously have enthusiasm about performing as a metal/hard rock band. Now, I am psyched to seeing them on tour with a balance of classic and new material. Looks like Queensryche has been "reborn".

Cerebral Eulogy, thanks for the link.

The vids show quite a contrast in music performance and conduct for Queensryche and Tate. I briefly toyed with the idea of catching Tate's concert last night. My son did an intervention and flat out told me, "Dad, that is NOT a good idea." Props to my son for saving me from my own curiosity in checking out this train wreck. Unfortunately, the folks in San Antonio learned too late to save themselves some hard earned $$$s. I bet they will remember this vid and his next performance when he releases another cd or hits SA again. Great job in building fan support.

Actions and music performance speak louder than multitudes of interview postings. Very optimistic for Queensryche's work with Barton.

Jet City Woman hasn't sounded that good in years. Compare Wilton's solo there with the broken-fingered version of that same solo by Kelly Gray here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=Ell3a2shisM#t=130s

The difference is massive. HUGE. All these Tate PR drones can't explain it away. This is the real Queensryche, and they haven't sounded like that in ages. Rock on!

I love it that QR is reborn and has a new, fresh outlook on their future. It's not QR of 1986, but it's still ahelluva better version they have been trotting out there the past 10+ years. Todd LaTorre deserves a lot of credit with putting that new life back into the band. They sound great and like a damn metal band again. No stage pressence? Did someone actually say that? Whatever! He is singing the songs how they are supposed to be sung. No saxophones, no spitting, no drama.
Geoff Tate is looking more and more like a fool with QR opening with a song he can't connect with anymore and the fans supposely don't know. As he admits he is more out of touch with his "fans" and calling them pussies, he is gonna be playing the local Rib Fests instead of concert venues.
I look forward to the new album they are working on and knowing that one of my fav bands are back and in full force. They've been gone for awhile, but they are back! What a sight for sore ears! Thank you, Queensryche, for taking out the trash and putting up a new air freshener.

Just because Geoff Tate destroyed his voice with decades of heavy drinking and smoking and got fired for being an asshole doesn't mean that the rest of the band stopped being Queensryche.

I am eager to hear something new from Queensryche and I have high(er) hopes for this version of the famed band, which simply has more original members than Geoff's. To the point, I am very much saddened by the shift in the line-up, but have come to terms with the fact that Geoff, despite what he says, is not singing for Queensryche anymore (though he hasn't yet).

However, even as I am very optimistic about La Torre brining something old and something new to the Ryche!, I can't even fathom listening to him singing the likes of 'Silent Lucidity', which for me was a Super-Meaningful song for 5 years or almost in my life and Geoff was just so perfect at that time and that song.

That said, bring on the new Ryche! - all things change and come to an end, but some things start again or start over and I'm ready to start over and rock out with some new sounds to a great band of All-Time History!
