METALLICA Frontman At Valley Isle Timing Association's Drag Races In Maui - Nov. 19, 2012

METALLICA frontman James Hetfield and NHRA Funny Car driver Ron Capps were at the Valley Isle Timing Association's season finals drag races Saturday evening (November 17) at Maui Raceway Park in Maui, Hawaii.

Capps tweeted afterwards: "Was great having friend James out to Maui Raceway last night, we got to race each other n had a blast"

Hetfield, a car and cycle enthusiast, created an invitation-only vehicle show held during the band's Orion Music + More festival June 23 and June 24 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He said the idea was conceived "so everybody can get a taste of the automobile passion and obsession that I have. The idea is for a METALLICA fan to come in and experience stuff they wouldn't normally see if they wouldn't normally go to a car show."

Cool, if it is on 17th, James definitely came over to celebrate Kirk's birthday in his Hawaii place too, on 18th. Good to know they are close enough to have birthday parties together.
