MAYNARD JAMES KEENAN Covers QUEEN, ACCEPT Classics On New PUSCIFER EP - Nov. 19, 2012
PUSCIFER, the Northern Arizona-based band helmed by Maynard James Keenan (TOOL, A PERFECT CIRCLE), will release an eight-song EP titled "Donkey Punch The Night" on February 19 via Puscifer Entertainment.

"While continuing our tradition of releasing a few new songs at a time," explained Keenan. "I also had an itch that needed scratching, and that itch was 'Balls To The Wall'. Which was followed by an even harder to reach itch known as 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. And scratch them we did."

The collection features two new songs written by Keenan and PUSCIFER cohorts Mat Mitchell, Carina Round and Josh Eustis: "Breathe" and "Dear Brother" as well as two covers: QUEEN's "Bohemian Rhapsody" and ACCEPT's "Balls To The Wall".

"Donkey Punch The Night" was recorded in Jerome, Arizona in Keenan's Caduceus Cellars with the same roster from 2011's "Conditions Of My Parole" (Keenan, Mitchell, Round, Eustis, Matt McJunkins and Jeff Friedl) and guests Zac Rae (piano), Juliette Commagere (vocals), Josh Morreau (bass) and Claire Acey (vocals).

Remixes of the four songs round out the release with contributions from Los Angeles techno wizard Drumcell, Big Black Delta (a.k.a. Jonathan Bates, formerly of MELLOWDRONE and touring guitarist for M83), Sonoio (Italian multi-instrumentalist Alessandro Cortini of MODWHEELMOOD and touring keyboard player for MUSE and NINE INCH NAILS) and Central American DJ Silent Servant, who is well known for his mash-up of post-punk and techno.

"Donkey Punch The Night" track listing:

01. Bohemian Rhapsody "O.G. Mix"
02. Breathe
03. Dear Brother
04. Balls To The Wall "PIllow Fight Mix"
05. Breathe "Drumcell rework"
06. Dear Brother "Denton rework" (Big Black Delta)
07. Balls To The Wall "Silent Servant El Guapo Mix"
08. Bohemian Rhapsody "Sonoio rework"

PUSCIFER recently announced its first tour dates outside of North America with the band performing three shows in Australia as well as performances at Lollapalooza Brazil and Lollapalooza Chile.

"Conditions Of My Parole" was released in October of 2011 and was quickly followed by a storied Halloween performance on "The Late Show With David Letterman", complete with Keenan in costume and a keyboard solo by Paul Shaffer. The band returned to late night television in February with a "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" performance that was equally unique, featuring Keenan and Round singing behind video monitors a la human bobbleheads.

PUSCIFER has completed two North American tours behind the sophomore release including a stop at this summer's Bonnaroo festival.

This guy has clearly lost his inspiration to create new (original) material. His vocal talent has been on a decreasing slope as well for quite some time (see the same setlist played by his only good band over the course of the last 6 years). This guy is obviously not the creative force he once was judging by his Cure rip off band (APC) and his third rate trip hop ensemble (puscifer). He should consider hanging it up and stick to making desert wine and writing intellectually sub par columns for a newspaper clearly in need of more readers.

TOOL AND WINE SHOULD BE HIS MAIN FOCUS.

PUSSY-FUR IS LAME. I TRIED IT OUT LAST ALBUM AND ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS GET DRUNK WITH POWER.

I LOVE MJK - BUT BE REAL AND STAND AT THE FRONT OF THE STAGE. QUIT HIDING BESIDE DANNY !!!

This dude needs to do covers because he can't write his way out of a wet paper bag.
Have you ever listened to a couple Tool albums back to back? It's a monotonous nightmare - it's ONE. LONG. 'SONG'.
