GUNS N' ROSES: First Las Vegas Residency Concert Attendances, Grosses Revealed - Nov. 17, 2012
GUNS N' ROSES launched its first-ever residency on October 31 when the band played the first of 12 shows at the Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The "Appetite For Democracy" run will last through Saturday, November 24, with the band playing a setlist exclusively created for these shows.

The shows feature the current lineup of the band, of which singer Axl Rose is the only original member.

The following are some of the first GUNS N' ROSES attendances/grosses at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, as reported by Billboard magazine:

* Artist/Event: GUNS N' ROSES
* Show Venue:The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino
* City/State: Las Vegas, Nevada
* Show Dates: Oct. 31, Nov. 2-3, 2012
* Gross Sales: $775,119
* Total Attendance: 8,387
* Capacity: 9,839
* Ticket Prices: $179.50, $129.50, $85, $45
* Promoter: Concerts West/AEG Live

* Artist/Event: GUNS N' ROSES
* Show Venue:The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino
* City/State: Las Vegas, Nevada
* Show Dates: Nov. 7, 9-10, 2012
* Gross Sales: $829,220
* Total Attendance: 9,082
* Capacity: 9,908
* Ticket Prices: $179.50, $129.50, $85, $45
* Promoter: Concerts West/AEG Live

GUNS N' ROSES drew criticism earlier in the month from Clark County commissioners after they were told about an ad for the group's Vegas concerts which depicts what appears to be a sexually assaulted woman beneath the "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign.

The image, which is said to be a watered-down version of the banned cover for the band's classic 1987 debut, "Appetite For Destruction", was being used in mainstream advertising, including newspaper promotions and taxicab placards.

Wow, how do you get from the information of the attendance figures posted for two nights, which are 8400 and 9000 people each, that they are averaging 3000 people a night?? Where did you go to school?? And where did the 12 people agreeing with you go to school?

Based on the numbers released so far they are averaging 8700 people a night in a 10k capacity venue, which is pretty good.

I watched both those videos in their entirety. I am sorry, there is no way this should be called GNR. There was nothing redeeming in those two clips. ugh. The excitement, the music, the explosiveness, the sound, the energy........is all gone. It is a perfect act for Las Vegas though.

Anyway, I've gotta give credit where credit is due. This is the biggest cover band in the world. Good job Axl!

what arent you reading the article??? there are 8000-9000 people there and thats probably 7000-8000 then are coming to most bands here on blabbermouth and the sales for the later show is over 800,000 dollars, doesnt seem so bad to me, i know i wouldn't mind to be playing in Las Vegas and getting this kind of money. and i bet most you wouldn't it either or are you rather gonna stay in your mothers basement complaining and being bitter about people that have so much more talent then you have??? or about some bands name???
the new GNR is many times better then most new bands especialy the ones on the charts.

Yeah but if you have a big stage setup, it takes up capacity. I saw Howard Stern there, and with the setup he had, I think only 2,000 were let in.

No way to spin these numbers as a failure, try as the anti-Axl bridgade might. Considering the slander against the new band in the US press, not to mention previous ticket sales and the expensive prices, I'd say near sell outs is a huge victory.

GUNS n ROSEs, not selling out a theather is not a huge victory. I'm not saying at this point Axl sux, or any thing negative about him and his band of moveable parts, but please, this is a theater and he's not selling it out....a fail? maybe. you decide. but a HUGE victory? This band used to sell out STADIUMS...(well, it wasn't this band, but you know what I mean).

and for the Axl zealots, I'm not trashing your hero. but let's get real.

their stage probably takes somes space away from the maximum capacity, so it's pretty close to a sold out show.... The numbers refer to a three nights capacity and three nights sales, of course

These are very good attendance numbers, given the fact that 99% of the people go to Vegas to lose their money or visit whores.
Hakk slash or puffadler would probably not even fill the foyer of a three star motel.
Sorry losers, your bands suck and you'll have to admit that Guns 'n Roses are forever out of reach regarding sales numbers and concert attendance. And forget about that reunion also, it's nothing more than a (crack)pipe dream.

I bet 99% of all Blabbercunts would say:
FUKK HAKK SLASH, MUFFMEISTER MCLOAD, JUNKIE ADLER & ASSKISSER RIOTACT.

I am a diehard original GNR Fan and believe the original line up is the shit. But I know that aint gonna happen probably ever.

So I flew down and spent a little time in Vegas. Attended the show this last wednesday. I was really impressed. if you want a good solid show you must see it. I never hired a babysitter, took a night off of work or drove an hour to attend a gnr show where Axl was 4 hrs late so you got me there if thats happened to you. He was on time and the show rocked.

If you are a diehard fan and mad Slash isnt there. Then youre not a true fan. A true fan knows GNR aint shit without Izzy. Maybe Izzy on heroin or both Slash and Izzy on heroin. Sure Duff and Adler were solid. But we all know they wouldve probably been Slash's Snakepit without Izzy from the begininng.

been hard on Mr. Hudson, but Mr. Bailey has taken one of the greatest bands in history and flushed it down the toilet. Seriously what a joke. I know William you do not care about my opinion, but I was one your supporters. Chinese Democracy was purchased at full price, so I was firmly in your corner. Put the band back together, team up with the Skid Row reunion and put some spectacle back into rock music. Stop the chump like behaviour and let's rock.

Basic math:

SIX nights are listed. TOTAL attendance over all SIX nights was 17,469.

Therefore, they averaged 2912 people per night.

And if you Google for The Joint's capacity, you'll see that capacity for the venue is 4000.

Gross sales over SIX nights was $1,604,339. Of course, band take-home would be much lower than that.

Anyway, just thought I'd toss that out there.

Vegas which has been overrun by techno DJs so glad to see a rock band was well received.

With the above calculation, they averaged 2,912 a night at a venue with 3,450 seats (maybe holds more when they cram general admission).

Says 3,450 seats here: http://www.lasvegassun.com/blogs/kats-report/2012/feb/04/motley-crue-joint-weve-got-situation-our-hands/

When Motley Crue played there they did not sell well so they had to give away a lot of comped tickets.

The economy is down and people spend less before the holidays so if they are averaging over $85 a ticket and the word on the street is that the show is worth going then I bet they'll come back. That's also a higher average ticket price than a Cirque de Soleil show which discount most of their tickets.

exact reason why theyre playing 1/2 assed lounge shows for vegas crowds now that can't even sell out.

IF the classic lineup of GNR were to tour, they would/could be headlining arenas and stadiums worldwide with guaranteed sell out gigs.

its completely cool if they still like their "band", or the songs, or Axl, Paul Stanley. Who ever's left...if they get an entertainment value from the show, great...but you are right. Its like a cult. They NEVER question their heros. Its really beyond bizarre. The concept of a "band" isn't understood. as long as the ticket and marquee say "GnR", it can be robots playing with Axl, doesn't matter...but what if Axl called his band "Axl"? then what?

There's definitely some good material on there. I like Shacklers Revenge, Sorry, and Better. I don't like the other songs. It's not Guns n Roses, it's Axl Rose. And it's not terrible.

at least now he's playing mostly for true fans instead of some people that only listen to the hits and know only the hits and the slower songs.
