OPETH: Quality Dublin Fan-Filmed Video Footage - Nov. 17, 2012
Quality fan-filmed video footage of Swedish progressive metallers OPETH performing the song "Ghost Of Perdition" on November 14 at Vicar Street in Dublin, Ireland can be seen below.

OPETH's new album, "Heritage", sold 19,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 19 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's previous studio CD, 2008's "Watershed", opened with more than 19,000 units to land at No. 23.

"Watershed" was the follow-up to the band's acclaimed "Ghost Reveries" CD, which debuted at No. 64 on the Billboard chart back in September 2005 with first-week sales of just under 15,000.

OPETH's 2003 album, "Damnation", premiered with a little over 5,000 copies.

When asked how OPETH planned to deliver the more technical songs from "Heritage" in the live show, vocalist/guitarist Mikael Ã…kerfeldt said in a 2011 interview, "I thought that might be a problem. But it's not been difficult at all. The live versions of the new songs sound closer to the originals than many of the other songs. We have a new keyboard player who's really into the different sounds we create and he's got lots of kit. When he plays, it's like he has four arms. He's doing a lot to make sure the current live show is something very special. But we'd never record anything that we didn't think we could pull off live."

Even though Anathema are not metal, at least not anymore, I think these guys right genuine good tunes. Saw them due an acoustic set in NY opening for Blackfield, and they were excellent. Love to see them again.

He said he didn't feel like writing any new death metal material at the moment, but he didn't say he wouldn't play it anymore. Half of their past work is death metal, of course they wouldn't let it go to waste!

Exactly, music is feelings, emotions, something that moves you, no matter what it is and where it comes from.

Deliverance and Blackwater Park for the encore. I'm seeing them in two weeks hope my relationship with Opeth can be restored a bit after Akerfeld's seventies prog rock identity crisis.

Heritage isn't necessarily bad, I just don't get much out of it. The elitist wannabe commenters may want to consider no one was pitching a bitch when Damnation came out because it was a well written album and even gained the band some new fans. It's not all about metal or not metal, sometimes it's just a matter of taste.
Of course, the "duh they suck now" side of this may want to take a moment too. Seriously, we're not talking about a Lulu incident here. Like it or not Heritage is indeed within their realm.

Anxious to see what they do from here.
