JAKE E. LEE Performs LED ZEPPELIN Classic With SOMETHING UNTO NOTHING (Video) - Nov. 17, 2012
Former OZZY OSBOURNE and BADLANDS guitarist Jake E. Lee joined SOMETHING UNTO NOTHING (S.U.N.) on stage last night (Friday, November 16) at Vamp'd in Las Vegas, Nevada to perform the LED ZEPPELIN classic "Rock And Roll". Video footage of his appearance can be seen below.

SOMETHING UNTO NOTHING is the band featuring the whiskey-soaked voice of Sass Jordan, a Canadian icon and Juno Award winner, alongside music partner, renowned drummer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Brian Tichy, known for his tours of duty with BILLY IDOL, FOREIGNER, OZZY OSBOURNE and currently WHITESNAKE.

Prior to last night's concert, Tichy was interviewed by "Tales From The Stage Volume 1" author Michael Toney. Tichy discussed the release of S.U.N.'s new album, leaving the LYNCH MOB tour to join the FOREIGNER tour, confirming that George Lynch wasn't mad at his departure, and his excitement after getting a private guitar lesson from Jake E. Lee moments prior to the interview. You can watch the chat below.

Jordan recently recorded a guest appearance on the track "Redeem Me" from Jake E. Lee.

Jordan was in Las Vegas earlier this year, where she ran into Lee.

"It was hilarious because S.U.N. was doing these few dates, including one in Phoenix which was the longest van ride ever," the singer recalled. "We were playing air guitar and drums to BADLANDS' first record — when [S.U.N.'s guitarist and co-founder] Brian Tichy mentioned that Jake lived in Vegas. I thought, 'Wouldn't it be wild to run into him and invite him to our show?' Well, due to an incredibly fortuitous set of circumstances, it happened, and that morphed into Jake inviting me co-write and sing a song on his new record."

Lee is back after over a decade in seclusion. In great shape mentally, physically and spiritually, Jake is ready to return and bring his brand of unique playing and music to the world.

In the process of recording his new album at Las Vegas' The Hideout Studios — owned and operated by Kevin Churko (OZZY OSBOURNE, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, IN THIS MOMENT) — Lee's first new release will feature a combination of legendary rock artists and some of the biggest names of new metal. Already recorded are guest appearances by Robin Zander (CHEAP TRICK), Paul Di'Anno (IRON MAIDEN), Maria Brink (IN THIS MOMENT), with many other big names attached to the project.

Lee's new solo album is being recorded with the help of guitarist Ronnie Mancuso of BEGGARS & THIEVES, whose 2011 video, "We Come Undone", featured an appearance by Jake.

Great to see Jake back on stage ripping it up on guitar. Love those Badlands albums he did. As well as Bark & Ultimate Sin from Ozzy years. Classic stuff those are. Cannot wait for his new solo CD & U.S. tour!

Tichy on guitar? Wow.

Like how Lee mimics Page, hitting one chord at a time!

Funny to see Tichy all excited about having met and gotten a 'lesson' from Jake.

Interesting, you're into the last, overlooked record by Badlands.

Its very basic, blues, funk, Hendrix influenced. I think the record was a mere demo.

I was there last night. S.U.N. kicked ass.Loud, heavy and right in the groove.Sass is absolutely amazing,as you can hear. Her vocals soared above the volume of the band.

I'd put Dusk from Badlands, up against anything Jake recorded in his career. Ride The Jack, Tribal Moon, and Walking Attitude kick ass. The Fire Lasts Forever would have made a great first single off of Dusk. The River is a great bluesy ballad, sung by the late, great Ray Gillen. Badlands stood right along side bands like Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, as far as their musicianship and vocals. Badlands had a short life span as a group, but there hasn't been anything like them since Dusk.

I enjoy the bare bones sound as well. Its refreshing, especially when considering the time it was recorded. Bands were so over-produced. It's really straight blues rock.

Jake said that Ozzy didn't want him to play the blues, "Nobody wants to hear the blues anymore" is what he quoted Oz saying in an interview.

Jake looks and sounds great...glad to see an amazing talent get back out there. Can't wait for the new stuff. I always liked his style...he was very unique during a period when everyone was doing the same thing.

As a side note...damn...Brian Tichy is one helluva musician. Not only is he one of the most bad-ass drummers, but he mixes it up on the other instruments as well. I gotta tip my cap to him.
