MEGADETH In New York City: Behind-The-Scenes Footage Posted Online - Nov. 16, 2012
MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson has posted behind-the-scenes footage from the band's November 14 concert at Best Buy Theater in New York City. Check out the eight-minute clip below.

The 20th-anniversary edition of MEGADETH's 1992 double platinum-certified "Countdown To Extinction" album was released on November 6 via Capitol/EMI.

Presented in a 2CD lift-top box and digitally, "Countdown To Extinction"'s new commemorative edition pairs the remastered original album with a 1992 concert, recorded live at San Francisco's Cow Palace, which has never before been released in its entirety. The concert audio has been newly remixed for this release. The physical and digital versions both include a booklet with a new liner notes essay by music journalist Kory Grow, and the 2CD box also contains a 24" x 36" poster and four collectible postcards.

MEGADETH is currently performing the acclaimed album in its entirety on the band's "Countdown To Extinction 20th Anniversary Tour".

just saw MD last Friday at a club. was expected to be completely blown out volume wise...it was literally THE most quiet show I've ever been to. They played well, but the lack of volume totally took away from the energy. You could not hear him speak between songs. People were chanting "turn it up" the whole show...is this the norm for Megadeth? I was bizarre...they did turn up some at the encore...not club restrictions because I've seen other bands and it was extremely loud.

Yes, that happened to me too at their April show in Biloxi, MS. I invited a ton of non-metal friends to the show to experience something new. We were literally able to carry on a conversation with each other while they were playing - and, I was like 15 feet away from the stage!

exactly, we were talking in normal voices. seriously, strange, and disappointing...why is this? It was like the sound was muffled, a huge pillow over the sound system.

turn it up MD! :)...otherwise a good show.

I'm surprised you went to a Megadeth show. I thought they wouldn't be classic rock enough for you ;)

I went to a Megadeth show for The system has failed tour, and the sound was quite loud, but you couldn't hear Mustaine sing. There are a lot of people who diss Megadeth for their live sound and it seems they'll never fix it. That last Gigantour, Mustaine said that being loud wasn't his goal, that Megadeth was a finesse band, unlike Motorhead, for example, that was on the bill too. I agree to a degree. I view Megadeth like a finesse band too. They're not really a groovy band and for the metal crowd, that doesn't go so well live. Back in the day, they were furious, but now they're mellow, great musicianship and all and that's fine with me but i can understand how they get critisized over sound and volume these days.

I absolutely love Megadeth's music but i don't really have a desire to see them live again. Soundman sucks i guess.

see Ledieu, you don't know my musical tastes as well as you thought. I can like classic rock and still like other stuff...:).

I hear, and agree its not all about Volume, but this was almost background music. i'm not exaggerating either. I've never been to a rock show, never mind metal, where people were chanting "turn it up". he came to the mic to talk, people were chanting, he listened, shrugged, talked and you couldn't hear a thing. It was like hearing a band playing live in an outdoor stadium, as you were out in the parking lot. Very weird...while I don't need to be blown out, it definitely took from the energy.

keep rockin' LeDieu.

Best Buy Theater is generally controlled in terms of volume. Its never low. You have to be able to hear it well.

Its funny, but at Irving Plaza, I was shocked at how low the volume of the Soundgarden show was.

If the sound's too loud, you can't differentiate what's being played and your ears are affected for a day or so. Not good. Maybe venues are cracking down on the sound guys?

Now Dave Mundane on top of having mundane music he has a mundane sound engineer?

That's a shame.

You guys too? They Played first time ever.... Opening song should have blown me away but damn the sound is so muffled, i feel like listening to them from another room. I did enjoy the concert but instead of a 100% satisfaction.. it was only 75%. The Riffing should cut through the audience, in your face style
