BLACK SABBATH Bassist Laying Down Tracks For New Album - Nov. 15, 2012
According to a post on BLACK SABBATH's official Facebook page, the band's bassist, Geezer Butler, "is all set to record some more bass tracks on the new album today."

BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi clarified the status of the band's new CD in an interview with "The Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show". Although it has been reported that the band has recorded 15 songs, Iommi explained, "That's wrong . . . We've written 15 songs and we've played them all. But now, at the moment, we're recording them. We recorded them at my house first, in England, just as demos, but now we're doing them for real. So we're about six tracks in now, at the moment."

Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne and bassist Geezer Butler are recording their first album together under the SABBATH name since 1978's "Never Say Die".

The drums on the disc are being handled by Tommy Clufetos, who has replaced founding drummer Bill Ward due to a contractual dispute between Ward and the rest of the group.

Asked if there is any chance of Ward rejoining the band, Iommi said, "We'll always have a heart for Bill, but I think it's gone past that now, because it's gone on so long that I don't see that happening at the moment. Maybe at some point we might [play together again]."

Meanwhile, SABBATH has announced an Australian tour for next April and has also revealed that it will headline the first-ever Japanese version of Ozzfest on May 11-12, with SLIPKNOT also on the bill.

Not his fault that he's playing on it - but either way, I'm not impressed with the choice whatsoever.

Since the announcement of no Bill Ward, the recording of this album is, and has just been passing news to me.

Not his fault he's playing on it? So you think he has some sort of contract with Sharon Osbourne where she dictates where and when he plays, or else he can't play anywhere with anyone? Actually I wouldn't put that past her, but still Tommy Clufetos could have said no.

Free Bill Fuck!

If you were a Drummer .... would YOU say no to playing with BLACK SABBATH???!!!!

I do play and I wouldn't ... as much as I respect the great Bill Ward .. I'd play my heart and soul out if they gave me that chance... you would too..

I look forward to at least giving the album a chance. It's not as if Bill's been anywhere near the top of his game in the last twenty years. I mean no disrespect at all, but listen to the Reunion album. Guy omits so many groovy bits it's ridiculous. I also in no way blame Sharon for any of it, as each band member has their own management and the idea that it's all on her is just stupid.

Has it been announced that Tommy is officially drumming on the album? I've read it might be otherwise. Not Bill, but not Tommy.

Think about all of the stuff they could be writing about since they started up again: Tony staring cancer down and kicking the shit out of it as much as one of his riffs devastates any one of us so beautifully.. The strife with Bill not being in on the new album.. Everything that has gone on since the last time they all made and released a full original album again, which has already been thirty-four years..

Rick Rubin did an awesome job with ZZ Top's new record 'La Futura'. He got a really great vocal out of Ozzy when Rick produced Type O Negative's version of the Status Quo song "Pictures Of Matchstick Men" back in '97, for the soundtrack to Howard Stern's 'Private Parts' movie. Rick Rubin is about establishing a vibe and being encouraging that way. He's a genuine fan of Sabbath, and more often than not he's brought out the best in who he works with.

I have no idea what the politics are anymore with contracts and stuff with established bands like Sabbath. I'll never get why the original four couldn't bandy together one last time and make it happen. Why it can't all be split an even four ways will always be beyond me.. I'll miss Bill's drumming on the new record, but I'm still psyched to hear brand new Black Sabbath with Tony Iommi. Geezer Butler and Ozzy Osbourne. Get Geez to write the majority of the lyrics and you have it going on. I predict Ozzy's vocals will be amongst the strongest he's sang in years, Tony will demonstrate with creative aplomb why he's surviving cancer and showing us all how it's done and Geezer will write some awesome lyrics while his inimitable bass playing rattles the fillings in people's teeth.

It looks pretty laid back, that room where Geez is laying down his bass tracks. Good Luck & Best Vibes with the new album, guys. Peace.

I hope no one comes barging through that door...especially if geezer was in the middle of laying down an ultra heavy wicked bass line....although it would make for a good youtube video

Will that be the next Black Sabbath Facebook posting?

What happened to all the post 97 reunion yapping from Geezer, Ozzy and Tony that the Black Sabbath name is sacred only to be used when the original four get together? Ozzy spewed a lot of this only the original four = Black Sabbath philosophy when he was suing Tony a coupla years back.

Nah, scab drummer will be like the bass player for the Rolling Stones. He's there but no one ever mentions him, no publicity photos include him, and he gets kicked to the curb as soon as he fails to perform his assigned function.

I'm still pissing myself at the Schwarzenegger/Total Recall comment!

It'll be worth a listen, although not as stoked as I would be if Bill was involved.

Iommi and Geezer will deliver, let's hope pro tools helps Ozzy deliver too :/

Yeah I know no Bill Ward, no Sabbath ... But in all honesty, this is most likely the last album these guys will record together...as much as it annoys me Bill isnt gonna be on this I still can't wait to hear what riffs Tony has in store for us... That last album with Heaven & Hell proved he's still kicking ass, and Geezer too

Will this album try to go Retro with the sound, or will it be Neo-Sabbath, the sound Iommi has adopted since the beginning of the Martin Era?

I really hope Rick Rubin convinces them to throw out the tower of rack units and get back to basics. SG + Fuzz + Laney Amp turned to 11 = Iommi

Hope Tony is doing better these days. Get well soon Mr. Iommi

Also, Bill Ward is the only Sabbath drummer for this record.

Give him his rightfully 25% and money already!

Stop all this BS enough is enough. It dragged out for so long.

Ozzy , Tony , Geezer + The money hungry wench named $haron are all near 70+ years old.

Time to finally grow the hell up & act that age!

You aren't getting any younger these days, Face the facts!!

Why in the FUCK would he say no???
