AEROSMITH's 'Music From Another Dimension!' Cracks U.S. Top 5 - Nov. 14, 2012
"Music From Another Dimension!", the 15th studio album and the first studio collection of all-new material in 11 years from AEROSMITHSteven Tyler (vocals), Joe Perry (guitar), Brad Whitford (guitar), Tom Hamilton (bass) and Joey Kramer (drums) — sold 63,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 5 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD arrived in stores on November 6 via Columbia Records.

"Music From Another Dimension!" was recorded in Los Angeles and at the band's studio in Massachusetts; it was produced by Jack Douglas, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, with the exception of three tracks produced by Tyler and Marti Frederiksen.

"Music From Another Dimension!" features 15 new tracks, including two songs that audiences in North America were treated to on the first leg of the band's triumphant, sold-out "Global Warming Tour". The CD presents AEROSMITH in ferociously fine form and at the peak of their powers. They're the only band of their stature with all-original members and who are playing better than ever have before. The album abounds with one highlight after another, including "Out Go The Lights", "Oh Yeah", "Luv XXX", "We All Fall Down", "Street Jesus" and "Can't Stop Loving You", on which Tyler duets with Carrie Underwood. The album also includes "Freedom Fighter", which features Johnny Depp on backing vocals.

A deluxe version of "Music From Another Dimension!" includes:

* Four live performance videos: "Rats In The Cellar", "Train Kept A Rollin'", "Oh Yeah" and "Same Old Song and Dance"

* Exclusive interviews with the members of AEROSMITH bandmembers

* Three exclusive new bonus tracks: "Up On A Mountain", "Oasis" and "Sunny Side of Love"

The "Music From Another Dimension!" track listing is as follows:

01. Luv XXX
02. Oh Yeah
03. Beautiful
04. Tell Me
05. Out Go The Lights
06. Legendary Child
07. What Could Have Been Love
08. Street Jesus
09. Can't Stop Loving You
10. Lover A Lot
11. We All Fall Down
12. Freedom Fighter
13. Closer
14. Something
15. Another Last Goodbye

"Legendary Child" video:

if you aren't going to rock the fuck out? I wasn't expecting Toys or Rocks, but this is such limp dick bullshit.

Sounds like it was made for Milwaukee housewives.

A pretty crappy first week sales number for a band like Aerosmith. I figured it would have sold double that in the first week.

what Aerosmith says about going back to the seventies, they need to sell units. And ballads sell units. Its a fact. Its a damn shame too. The disc is as good as your gonna get from the beantown boys. I was a first day buyer because im loyal and second because like many of you im looking for some music to kick my ass. Its not Rocks but MFAD has its moments.

JPACHALEN, come on man, snap out of it! :) I appreciate you are loyal, they are still one of my favorite bands, but I knew without a doubt they'd still be woefully commercial...even when they attempt to rock, for the most part, they are out of fresh ideas...I do like LuvXXX, but little else. THis is worse than the last effort. My days of buying Aerosmith records are well over.

They sold more units in the 70's by just rockin'. They don't need Diane Warren, Carrie Underwood, Desmond Child...and Jack Douglas for that matter. The more it sells, the more Jack makes too, so of course he's on board with the sellout...but what happened to making a great ROCK record and selling "units". Its been done before(yes harder in today's climate)...

maybe if they just told us for the last few months "we made a great pop record that should stack up well against Justin Timberlack and Fergie", then they'd at least not be trying to pull the wool over their old fan's eyes. Douglas said he had fans of their classic stuff in mind. Really? Don't piss on us. Just give it straight, its a American Idol tinged pop record.

Lets be honest, they sold more units in the 70s because millions of people weren't able to just steal all the music they wanted from torrents back then.

they just stole them in their pockets...just make a good record, sales or not. Pump sold a lot. I'd take that at this point.

If it would have sold 300K in first week i had agreed. But they would have sold these mediocre numbers if they had rocked out aswell.

i get that man, but this 2012. The mainstream doesn't care about Aerosmith. Those kind of bands are pretty much dead.

They should take a page out of Kiss' book and just release rock music that the fans will enjoy.

They don't need to pander to the commercial world anymore. That time is gone now. THey are too old to play that game.

Steven likes them schlocky ballads, though. They used to write and record great ballads that somehow rocked, like "What It Takes" from 'Pump'.

It's hard to believe people mocked Van Halen for the sales of 'ADKOT' but they sold 187,000 copies in the first week. True it dropped off but those figures make this Aerosmith number look like Geoff Tate first week sales. I think it's time for 200,000 copies sold to be the new gold record standard.

Damn, what happened to the 75-80K they predicted last week? I guess that American Idol ballad thing is working so well anymore. I wonder if they are depressed that they only sold the same as a comic book rock band?

I somewhat agree in that it shouldnt matter anymore. Just make a rock record that all of us diehards have been waiting for. I think you"ll agree that Aerosmith is in a whole other league when it comes to unit sales in relation to Kiss. Aerosmith in the last 25 years has sold alot more units than Kiss. I dont care for much of it, thats just me. I prefer Monster over MFAD but I am loyal to both bands.

There has been some really outstanding records from old school bands this year - Van Halen, Accept, Rush... This isn't one of them. I will always love Aerosmith for being one of the best bands ever and for filling my youth with such awesome rock, but this is a major disappointment to me.

Haters? its not about "haters", its about aerosmith, at one time a stellar hard rock act, just turning their back on pretty much all they worked for. with each release, they water their legacy down. Each time they appear on American Idol, "jam" with Britney Spears...its to the point if someone asks you your all time favorite bands, you say "Aerosmith", and they cringe. you have to qualify "they were good at one time! honest!".

this is so not the band I used to get into. So "hater", please. They turned into another band all together.

In what way? KISS sold 59K first week in the US, and just 4 weeks later it sold less than 20K ALL OVER THE WORLD. Talk about dead fish in the water.

I don't get it - they have nothing to lose by just putting out a good bluesy hard rock album - their tours will sell out regardless, which is where all the money is made anyway.
(Unless of course they don't have it in them anymore . . .)

I didn't realize it was a contest between Monster and MFAD. However since it seems to be I'll voice my opinion. The Monster just stomped all over Aerosmith. I like both bands but KISS takes this one by a landslide. it isn't even close. To bad I would like to see both band do well. I will keep Monster in regular rotation and MFAD is going to do nothing but collect dust.

As usual, your right and "like minds think alike". I to remember when Aerosmith wrote a ROCK album, not looking for a top 40 hit. If it happened, like with "Walk this way", it happened, but, that didn't stop them from making an album that WAS Aerosmith. There's not one song on this album worth my dime and thats sad. At least KISS & Van Halen didn't pander to the masses for that almighty song on the radio. Oh, the humanity and shame of it all.

Artists don't make good music anymore since no one buys their music. They just download it. Instead, they keep making sappy shit that lame dick shows like American Idol will pay royalties for.
