DEVIN TOWNSEND: 'Lucky Animals' Video Released - Nov. 13, 2012
"Lucky Animals", the new video from Canadian multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and producer Devin Townsend, can be seen below. The clip was created by combining videos that were submitted by Devin fans from all over the world, to make "Lucky Animals" a very special visual experience for everyone. More than 150 videos were submitted, out of which a good 130 made it into the video in the end (due to quality or legal issues, some could not be used, unfortunately).

Commented Townsend: "So here's what we came up with for 'Lucky Animals'! We tried to use at least a clip from everyone's contributions, I really hope we succeeded. The sync was a little difficult with some of them, and the quality varies between them all, but man...such fun! It's a great feeling to see people having a good time, and it makes us feel great that we're all having a good time with such a dumb song. Thanks a lot for this!"

"Lucky Animals" comes off "Epicloud", the latest album from Devin Townsend to be released under the DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT banner, was issued on September 18 in North America and September 24 in Europe via InsideOut Music. The CD features a guest appearance by former THE GATHERING frontwoman and previous Devin collaborator Anneke Van Giersbergen.

"Epicloud" is available in the following formats: standard CD jewel case; limited-edition digipack with bonus CD; double vinyl gatefold with an exclusive bonus track; and digital download on iTunes with two exclusive bonus tracks, "Cry Forever" (demo) and "Take My Ego" (demo).

The idea for "Epicloud" came about while Devin was attempting to write material for the follow-up to his 2007 "Ziltoid The Omniscient" concept album about a fictional extraterrestrial being named Ziltoid from the planet Ziltoidia 9.

Regarding the musical direction of "Epicloud", Devin told Noisecreep, "Over the course of the full record, there's sort of new agey stuff, jazzy stuff, really heavy stuff. We basically cover the gamut. 'Epicloud' is the first record that I felt confident enough to include all those things on one record so it goes between melodic hard rock to schizophrenic heavy metal to country to really ambient stuff and it's all in one place. I'm using a gospel choir, a string section and a horn section for this one as well. On [the DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT album] 'Deconstruction', I got to use the Prague Philharmonic [orchestra] and really go far into making an absurd album as over the top as possible and on 'Epicloud' I'm trying to take the same advantages to make some things musically very pleasing, as opposed to just claustrophobic."

EPICLOUD is a MASTERPIECE !!!!!!.....simple as that !!......it's AMAZING !!!........but lucky animals is the weakest link.....doesnt fit at all with the whole album.....this isnt my cup of tea (the video) but i respect DEVIN's multi-directional personnality so much that I dont mind when something is not for me.
