KISS, MÖTLEY CRÜE, THIN LIZZY To Join Forces For Australian Tour - Nov. 13, 2012
It‘s the news Australian fans have been waiting for with the spectacle of all spectacles announced today, KISS with very special guests MÖTLEY CRÜE will tour Australia in March 2013.

Presented by McManus Entertainment, the summer's biggest, baddest rock tour will hit Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Mackay and Adelaide with guests Irish rockers THIN LIZZY along for the ride (except Adelaide).

KISS and MÖTLEY CRÜE's 45-show U.S. summer tour has already gone down as one helluva rock'n'roll extravaganza and now, finally, its Australia's turn!

Not only has it been five long years since KISS last toured Australia, but 2013 marks a very special milestone for this great band — their 40th anniversary. In all their bombastic and unstoppable glory, KISS will perform fan favorites from their treasure-trove of hits along with tracks from their just–released 20th studio album, "Monster", which debuted at #7 on the ARIA chart.

MÖTLEY CRÜE recently become the first rock band in history to play an epic sold-out Las Vegas residency at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The band is best known for continuing to reinvent not only their live show (with mind blowing elements such as Tommy Lee's 360 drum roller coaster) and music (brand new song due out soon), but remain on the cutting edge via social media interaction.

And if that wasn't enough, classic Irish rockers THIN LIZZY will be back in town with the line-up that has been winning over fans and critics alike for the past two years. Along with Scott Gorham, Brian Downey and Darren Wharton, the additions of vocalist Ricky Warwick, guitarist Damon Johnson and bass player Marco Mendoza, THIN LIZZY have been re-introducing their music to a whole new generation of fans to overwhelming success and now it's Australia's turn.

Brisbane up-and-comers DIVA DEMOLITION have won the highly-prized local support act spot and will open all shows on the tour.

The dates are as follows:

Feb. 28 - Perth Arena
Mar. 03 - Clipsal 500, Adelaide
Mar. 05 - Etihad Stadium, Melbourne
Mar. 09 - All Phones Arena, Sydney
Mar. 12 - Brisbane Entertainment Centre
Mar. 16 - Virgin Australia Stadium, Mackay

there's a good chance KISS will dust off a track or two from UNMASKED, which, from what I understand, was as much of a hit there as it was a flop elsewhere.

And maybe it's me, but I'd leave the Crue at home, especially as Thin Lizzy is on the bill.

It's all about getting people to come, and as great as Thin Lizzy is, the Crue are a big draw wherever they go.

Thin Lizzy surprised me when they opened up for Judas Priest recently. They were really good, regardless whether their lineup's changed.

At least they are not making members wear masks to look like former members unlike some people we know.

exactly! when did it become ok to have one member of a band, not even the lead guy, own the name, and go tour with the band name? Its beyond bogus. I don't care how good of a guitarist it is! yes, he's cool, but there's no Phil Lynott. People buy into this? I read "they sounded great!"...and? There's another tribute band down the street that sounds good too!...there was a time not too long ago, this was not an accepted practice. nor was rock stars going on Pop Shows like American Idol.

This is the same as Noel Redding & Mitch Mitchell going out as Jimi Hendrix Experience with Jon Butcher playing guitar...they may nail the songs, but its not Jimi Hendrix. Lynott is NOT replaceable...I hear Kris Noveselic and Grohl are touring as Nirvana, they sound great!

Rock music has been displayed on "Pop" Shows since the first days of television. Think Top of the Pops, Ed Sullivan, and several other variety shows.

American Idol and the such are nothing new, you are just to young to remember. History repeats itself.

no...Ed Sullivan was not a pop music show. He had rock acts perform on his show, it was a place for rock acts to play. It was not Solid Gold, or American Idol. It may be pop in the sense of "popular culture", but it wasn't a pop show. I wish I was too young to remember. (not that I was around for Ed Sullivan).

TRied to reply to you BSlash24, did not seem to post.

So, a short response. Ed Sullivan had everyone from Liberace to Woody Allen on his show. Because it was a "popular" show, "popular" people wanted to be on it o become more popular. And Ed Sullivan wanted "popular" people on his show so he could become more "popular" Hence the term pop music and pop culture, etc. It is not a sub-genre of music, it is music that is popular at that time.

The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Doors, could all be considered Pop music.

Don't argue over semantics, remember the real issue at hand is that it's not really Thin Lizzy, it's only half of Kiss, and Mick is the only member of the Crue with any real talent

I understand where you are coming from(and I suppose we are arguing sematics), but Rolling Stones "pop" is not the pop of American Idol. While a song like "let spend the night together" has many pop elements, if the Stones aren't rock, then rock doesn't exist...Sullivan had pop artist on the show, I'm sure he had Nancy Sintra, people like that, but the Pop Culture show, is not the Pop Music show of Idol or Solid Gold. I think we can agree on that, but we are splitting hairs...

if you think its cool hard rock acts are on Idol, that's fine. i disagree. Its a sellout in my book, and ED Sullivan wasn't. Why? I think we know the difference....and the trend of bands going out under the said band name, with a flute player being the only original member just isn't cool. But I guess many people don't care, they just want to hear those songs played well, doesn't matter who plays them.

Say what you will about Lizzy and name changes, etc., but that Warwick dude can sing. Musically, this band will wipe the stage with Kiss and Crue.

You guys knew I'd chime in, right?
Kiss just proves my point again and again. I know the music industry has changed. I know there's a new business model out there but in the case of Kiss it goes deeper than that. They know through internal focus group polling that they can longer, by themselves, sell enough tickets. Thus the string of double bills and sporadic one or two full shows here and there since the second split from the reunion days. The Kiss cruise sailed long ago, they are nothing but a novelty act now. Might as well do some shows opening for Barnum and Bailey's.

Who would have thought that Mötley would be the band in 2013 with all original members you gotta admire their endurance and their ability to overcome their issues with each other make new music and still cut it.... KISS on the other hand.... but I guess with two petulant spotlight luvvies like Gene and Paul KISS were always doomed. And to be fair they ain't ever gonna take the make-up and wigs off, have you seen them these days. They my pug Bertie look like Errol Flynn....
