Video: MEGADETH Bassist Checks Out Damage Caused By Superstorm Sandy - Nov. 10, 2012
MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson visited Long Island, New York to check out some of the damage caused by superstorm Sandy prior to the band's November 10 performance at The Paramount in Huntington on the "Countdown To Extinction" 20th-anniversary tour. Check out the footage below.

Thousands of Long Island residents remained without power Saturday 10 days after after Sandy struck, causing a loss of $750 million in economic activity in Nassau County.

It is estimated that Sandy may have caused $50 billion in economic losses from the Carolinas to Maine, including property damage, lost business and extra living expenses.

The 20th-anniversary edition of MEGADETH's 1992 double platinum-certified "Countdown To Extinction" album was released on November 6 via Capitol/EMI.

I am a huge Megadeth fan, but honestly I don't see how someone can stand over total destruction where many people died and have their lives ruined with a big fucking smile on your face ? I don't see how someone can do that.

Dude, this is pretty far from total destruction and it's not like their lives have been ruined. He's probably smiling because he's impressed by how well the people are dealing with it.

You need to smile. People need the positive spirit. They dont need more wallowing in grief and despair, they already have too much of that.

anyone go to that Megadeth show last night? what was with the volume? I was expecting to have my face melted, you could barely hear it. Bizarre. crowd chanting "turn it up". I've been to acoustic shows that were louder. Like a big pillow over the speakers.

...yes, it could have been louder. But still a good show.

Personally, I was glad the whole "computer / effects display" broke down. I was getting epilepsy...I came to hear the music and see the band rip it up, not watch videos.

@ Walrus Rimjob

Dude, who cares about Katrina ? That's bullshit :

- 100'000 to 150'000 people died in Hiroshima
- About 300'000 in Haïti in 2010.

See how stupid is your argument ? Every one of these 110 people who lost their lives is a tragedy, regardless to the rest of the world. Now stop trying to be smart/funny on a tragic situation and show some respect.

...but saying 110 deaths is the same as 300,000 is just as stupid.

First off, the storm was 14 days ago. The water there was 6 -7 feet high. Tens of thousands of homes were destroyed. They were in the heart of it all. As for the Katrina comment? The reason the death total wasn't higher was twofold a) because of Katrina people take the warnings way more serious and b) NY'ers for the most part had the means ($$ , cars, relatives) to get out of harms way , where many in NOLA didn't. I'm not a huge fan of Megadeth anymore but nothing but respect for the dude.
