TRENT REZNOR Says NINE INCH NAILS Is Working On New Music, Possible Tour - Nov. 7, 2012
In an new interview with RollingStone.com, Trent Reznor was asked about the likelihood of new NINE INCH NAILS music. "All signs point to yes," he said. Pressed further, he added, "Yeah, there will be new music. There are some things in the works."

Those "things" could also include live performing again. "Yeah, if it feels right, it's a possibility," he said. "I never said that that wasn't going to happen, just that it couldn't go on as it was. Having a few years doing other things, I've enjoyed [them] and I'm enjoying doing HOW TO DESTROY ANGELS, and there will be a place for stuff that falls in the NINE INCH NAILS column of things. It's a different kind of work.

"Stay tuned," he added. "We'll see what happens here."

In early 2009, Reznor announced that NINE INCH NAILS was embarking on a 20th-anniversary farewell tour, after which he stayed busy recording with HOW TO DESTROY ANGELS, writing music for "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2" and scoring "The Social Network" and "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" with composer Atticus Ross.

HOW TO DESTROY ANGELS is the project featuring Reznor and his wife Mariqueen Maandig (ex-WEST INDIAN GIRL) along with Ross and NIN's longtime graphic designer Rob Sheridan.

HOW TO DESTROY ANGELS' second EP, "An Omen EP", will be made available on November 13 and will contain six songs, some of which will also appear on the band's upcoming LP, to be issued early next year via Columbia Records.

Hoping it isn't another one like Year Zero or The Slip though. Let's get playing some rock n roll again. Something more like Broken or the Fragile would be cool.

Trent should focus on his new project. NIN is dated. They were perfect for the early 90's music scene. They only logical step for NIN is to go into the dubstep direction. Plus, Trent isn't angry anymore and he's drug free, so any new NIN music he writes would sound weak.

NIN has yet to put out a bad album. If you're hoping for him to keep releasing 'Pretty Hate Machine' or 'Downward Spiral' over & over, you're no doubt going to be disappointed by his latter albums ('The Slip', 'Year Zero' & 'With Teeth' were all excellent albums in their own right).

I'm not a fanboy, I'm just someone who can appreciate that Trent Reznor keeps moving forward and not rehashing the same albums repeatedly. And NIN's live shows were absolutely raging through to the end.

Absolutely 100% correct, sir. Ferocious live band. Anyone who says they suck and should retire obviously has not seen them live. Bring on the tour.

I welcome anything from Trent Reznor, be it with NIN, The Social, HTDA, Soundtrack work etc etc... I think he's a brilliant musician and composer.

Never believe anyone's fist "farewell" tour. I've been to so many and enjoyed. Just like I enjoyed the reunion tour a few years later.

Bring on some new NIN music. Their last album a few years back was really good.

it doesn't matter if you are a fan or not, Reznor is a genius when it comes to sounds and composing. the same with Zeppelin, you can say you dont like their music but its a fact they are great musicians.
and Reznor is always trying to make new music, and like other bands over 10 years old they had their "cool" time in the first 5-10 years then some other bands take over as the new "cool" band. but still NIN are making much better music then most of the so called cool bands today that all sound the same and singers that sing in the same tone all song.
and why is he dated? just because he had hit songs in the 90's??? most of popular music is dated, its always the same 3 minute songs over and over again, especialy in the rap, r&b, songs.

Nine Inch Nails's music is basically a skateboard thrown into a washing machine.

Trent Reznor is an overrated hack

If he releases new NIN material and tour, it would be pretty cool. Now, if he finally let that TapeWorm project begin to roll for real, it would be awesome.
