ROB ZOMBIE To Be Honored At 'New York City Horror Film Festival' - Nov. 6, 2012
On Friday, November 9, Rob Zombie will attend the 10th annual New York City Horror Film Festival, where he will receive the Michael J. Hein award for "Personal Achievement In Direction." Zombie will also show to the audience in attendance a special "Director's Choice" screening of one of his films.

Although online ticket sales have now ended, fans can purchase tickets to the event on the door.

To find out more, go to the New York City Horror Film Festival web site.

Zombie last month released the first official trailer for his upcoming film "The Lords Of Salem". The horror film, Zombie's fifth live-action feature, stars his wife Sheri Moon Zombie as a Massachusetts DJ who discovers that playing a mysterious record somehow activates a curse placed on her town by a coven of witches 300 years ago.

Zombie told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that this is the first time he's made a movie with explicitly supernatural overtones. "Yeah, the other ones aren't at all, I don't think," he said. "' [House Of 1000] Corpses' was just this crazy, bloody, you know, 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' thing, and 'Devil's Rejects' was always meant to be sort of like a post-modern Western, and the 'Halloween' films, I tried to make them not supernatural on purpose. So yeah, this will be the first one that's sort of about supernatural things coming back to life. It's good. I'm excited. It's gonna be very different than the other films."

The genuinely creepy trailer offers a barrage of Satanic imagery, including witches burning at the stake, pagan animal masks, bizarre rituals and Sheri Moon Zombie straddling a demonic goat.

The film premiered in September at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it was picked up for distribution by Anchor Bay. The company will release it sometime in early 2013.

hmmmm, i don't understand. he says he's never touched on the supernatural before, but i seem to remember some supernatural shit happening at the end of house of 1,000 corpses (seemingly out of nowhere). when they lower their victims into the ground in those coffin things, these zombie-like people rise from the water. also, isn't doctor satan supposed to be sort of undead? i mean he looks pretty zombie-like, and captain spaulding mentions that the townspeople hung him! maybe i just completely misunderstood the movie.

Please celebrate this achievement by doing something really worthy of the occasion, like chopping his fucking head off.

Rob Zombie has been nothing but mediocre and his comments make him look like an entitled prick that thinks everything he puts out is a gift, when it is unwarranted. He couldn't keep his band together, the solo records were lame, he had some limited success with his movie projects, then he did a bunch of bad remakes. Now he comes crawling back on the music scene with nothing left in the tank. I think I've had enough of him and his attitude.

And I used to hang a poster of him on my wall when I was a teenager. By that point though he'd been on more "not bad" records than awful recordings and terrible movie remakes.

It's really sad because the idea of Zombie making movies is great on paper but this far has been a shitty homage to the TX chainsaw massacre, a mediocre half-sequel exploitation movie, a useless and unneeded remake, and a rushed sequel to it. I really just wish he would grow the balls to actually make werewolf women of the SS. But I really can't see the Wein$teins getting behind that. So I just hope he and his annoying twat of a wife would piss off.
