IN FLAMES Drummer: 'We Have Nothing Written' For Next Studio Album - Nov. 6, 2012
The Age Of Metal conducted an interview with drummer Daniel Svensson of Swedish metallers IN FLAMES on October 30 at Comerica Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona during the band's North American tour with LAMB OF GOD. You can now watch the chat below.

Asked about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the follow-up to last year's "Sounds Of A Playground Fading", Svensson said, "We're not a band that writes albums on the road. We tried, but it didn't really work out for us. So we will continue touring on ['Sounds Of A Playground Fading'] until this touring cycle is done, and then we will meet up and write the new material. So far, we have nothing written for the upcoming album. I mean, we will still tour for awhile on this album. For us, this album still feels kind of fresh."

IN FLAMES' tenth album, "Sounds Of A Playground Fading" (Century Media), sold around 14,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 27 on The Billboard 200 chart.

IN FLAMES' previous CD, "A Sense of Purpose" (Koch) opened with 20,000 units to land at No. 28. This was slightly less than the opening tally of "Come Clarity" (Ferret), which shifted just under 24,000 copies in February 2006 to enter the chart at position No. 58.

All the ex-members should reunite and become the real In Flames.

You're right. I saw them at Wacken and the oldest track they played was from the Clayman album (2000).
I remember listening to their 90s stuff all the time and seeing them live in 1998 and 1999 with bands like Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquillity, and Children of Bodom. Those were great shows, but nowadays… let's just say it's not my cup of tea. Many people seem to enjoy their recent stuff for reasons I don't understand.

No original member left and the band keeps getting worse. They used to make excellent albums but that is already way too long ago.

Hey, the Hot Topic metalheads love them. That has to count for something, right?

I'm going to be the oddball here and say that I enjoy their newer stuff just as much as their older stuff. If they just recorded the same shit over and over again, then they would have to change their name to Slayer 2. Remember that, fuckheads.
