TERRORIZER/Ex-MORBID ANGEL Drummer PETE SANDOVAL: 'My Recovery Is Almost 100%' - Nov. 2, 2012
Drummer Pedro "Pete" Sandoval (MORBID ANGEL, TERRORIZER) has released the following statement:

"Just wanted to tell you that my recovery [after a 2010 back surgery] is almost 100%. I'm able to play drums, but I don't want to push it doing a tour just yet. However, I am working with Wolf [a.k.a. Anthony Rezhawk; vocals] and Kat [Katina Culture, guitar] on new songs for a new TERRORIZER album, and I'm also recording drums for two RESISTANT CULTURE tracks that will be featured on their upcoming full-length release. Keep an eye out for it, it'll destroy!!!!"

A preview clip from Sandoval's forthcoming DVD can be seen below. The disc will contain great features such as angle view selection or multi audio (drums only, with music). The song played in the clip is "Generation Chaos" from TERRORIZER's new album "Hordes Of Zombies", which released this past March via the French label Season Of Mist.

In a November 21, 2011 interview with Metal Storm, MORBID ANGEL bassist/vocalist David Vincent was asked if the band's current touring and recording drummer, Tim Yeung, is now a permanent member of the group. "Permanent is an interesting word," Vincent replied. "When we got Tim to do [the latest MORBID ANGEL album, 'Illud Divinum Insanus'] — everybody knows what the story is on that — it was to do the record and to do the subsequent touring for the record. So that's what I'm prepared to discuss this evening. Tim is a very capable drummer, a very talented fellow. He's a good friend, and I feel very pleased that his schedule worked out, as such, that he could do this, 'cause we're having a good time."

During a chat with Brazil's Som Extremo in October 2011, Sandoval was asked for his opinion about MORBID ANGEL's "controversial" new CD, "Illud Divinum Insanus", which incorporates industrial and electronic elements into the band's traditional death metal sound. "No comment! I don't play on that album." He was then questioned about what he thought he would have done different on "Illud Divinum Insanus" had he played on the record. "More exreme deathgrind metal and less DJ, boring awful typical I care less industrial experimental same as everybody boring bull!" he said. "This is not what MORBID has been all about! ...Hmmmmmm, and I really care less...!"

Pete comes back to the media saying he's fine now, mentions all his projects BUT his main band for the last two decades, Morbid Angel. Something tells me he's not coming back at all with them!

I love Terrorizer, but Anthony Rezhawk sucks. He's so generic vocally and lyrically. It's almost like he isn't even trying. I would love to see Oscar back in the band along with, oh, I don't know Mitch Harris or somebody like that on guitar. They're a monstrous with a monstrous legacy and deserve to have members that come close to that legacy, not members of a 2nd rate band who only got attention in the first place due to Jesse's involvement.

yes, Terrorizer definitely need some new members - those who can make really professional stuff, coz last two their albums are boring, very monotonous and simply not interesting (with all my respect to Pete).

You nailed it, Jaehaus! C'mon, who will be surprised when Commando announces his definitive departure from the Morbid camp? I certainly won't...

I always thought that Pete looked like a troll hunched over behind his drumkit. It caught up with him :/. Good to see he's back (mostly) doing what he loves.

But like some other bands out there tarnishing their band name, without their original/main song writers, it's just not the same band anymore. I think they would be better off changing the name, that way the fans can not compare them to the old classic releases.

I love how everyone gets their panties in a bunch because Terrorizer is an active name. I love all three albums for different reasons. And I love it when people's sacred cows get challenged, sending them into a tampon-ravaging, mascara-streaking frenzy of emotions, as if anything they say will accomplish squat. I mean really... if a band listened to internet dipsticks for advice on running their band, would said band be worth listening to? I doubt it.

Just 'cause you don't like it don't mean it ain't no good.

Kat did a fantastic job on Zombies. I like the idea of adding Mitch Harris to the mix to thicken the sound some. THAT would be a total WIN.

Nothing against Steve Shalaty, but Pete should really join Immolation.

Yeah, sometimes some opinions are really stupid but what i've read here so far is not. As of now the majority of the posters respect Pete Sandoval as a drummer but are not really enjoying the new Terrorizer CD.

The headline on top states "Ex-Morbid Angel Drummer", is that official news now? I get the impression that Pete will not return to Morbid Angel. I'm right, you're wrong posted that Pete should join Immolation but i don't think so, Immolation already has a powerful drummer! It would make more sense for Pete to join a band where his current band/Terrorizer is based out of and that is Los Angeles. The band that comes to mind is the band that he mentioned in an interview on voicesfromthedarkside.de, he said they are old friends from L.A. and they are called Sadistic Intent. I could totally picture that and know that together they would be amazing!

COMMENT | Morbid Angel doing tekno is even better than new Terrorizer crap

At least they TRIED to do something different.

These last two Terrorizer albums were laughable, pathetic excuses for follow ups to the most classic grind album ever. Their lead singer especially shit the bed.

I've seen Morbid Angel with Tim on drums a couple of times now and i hate to admit it but Tim is a way better drummer than Sandoval ever was or will be.

New Morbid Angel with Tim Yeung going full speed... yes please! Make it harder, faster, darker and drop the tekno krap... but i guess that's a given.

I was wondering if I missed the news about Pete officially leaving Morbid Angel. Tim is good, but Pete is a huge part of Morbid Angel.

Step 1: Get Steve Tucker back on vocals
Step 2: Get Sandoval back in the band
Step 3: Make a death metal record
