SLAYER's 'Raining Blood' Featured In Commercial For Google's New Chromebook - Oct. 31, 2012
SLAYER's classic song "Raining Blood" is featured in a 30-second commercial for Google's new $249 Chromebooks from Samsung. Check it out below. The ad is part of Google's new ad campaign that is designed around the "a computer for everyone" theme.

Google's new Chromebooks will be sold in 100 Best Buy stores, to be expanded to 500 stores, which will have special Chromebook kiosks staffed by Google-trained specialists. The new Chromebook will also be available for order online, including in the Google Play store.

ALTER BRIDGE and CREED guitarist Mark Tremonti recently told Noisecreep, "Some of my favorite riffs of all time are on SLAYER's song 'Raining Blood' and that really inspired me to write man of the menacing metal riffs that I have over the years."

thunk way back in 1986 that something from the album most thought was the nastiest, fastest, evilest and most brutal record ever to be released upon the world would become a jingle for a computer company 26 years later?

Times have indeed changed.

...although I live in the US, I used to get "Kerrang!" (which was a UK metal mag) and it was a big deal back in 1986 that one of the most mind-blowing metal albums ever was only available in the UK on import (the local distributors refused to carry it based on "obscenity" or some such nonsense).

And now here it is, being used in a commercial. What a mind-f*ck.

Newsflash! All bands that sell records do it to make money! There's nothing wrong with it. If the shitty band that you love, and feel hasn't "sold out" isn't doing it, it's because they suck and no one want's to pay for their shit. If a band didn't care about money they would never leave the town that started playing garages in.

It sucks that Def American gets paid a huge mechanical license fee, none of which Slayer will receive. I think people tend to think licensing music is some sort of endorsement when the songwriters have no say at all on what the publishers want to use it for.

False. Artists can decline accordingly and the cash is usually a 50/50 split with the publisher. Mechanical licensing applies more so to CD's, sheet music, etc. You would need a sync and master recording license to use the song in a commercial.

Bah.

Didn't Suffocation have a song for a History Channel doc or something like that?

Anyway if that intro doesn't make you want to smash your couch like an autist, there's something wrong with you.

I love Slayer always have always will but WTF are they doing this for trying to tarnish the very name that had all us metalheads worship for the last 25 years or so? Jesus this is so polarizing it's not even funny. First judas priest did it then Rush did it now Slayer??? WTF? all my bands are becoming money hungry sell-outs I wish it would end. What the fuck ever happened to integrity.

Do you want to go to work for free? No, of course not. So why exactly does this make Slayer a sell out? Because they want to make money, correct? Isn't that the whole point of doing your job, to get paid. Yeah, their profession is a form of entertainment and there are a lot of fucking retards out there who think playing music isn't a job. News falsh fuckhead, it is work. There is absolutely nothing wrong with what the band is doing. Their fucking Slayer asshole, they do want they want. Walk up to any of the 4 in the band and tell them waht they are doing is a bunch of shit and how do you think they are going to respond? With a big FUCK YOU!!

Fuck you asshole it is too selling out Slayer okayed it and it's an extreme song from one of their extreme albums being played on a commercial on tv. Don't call me out when your the one that's integrity challenged. Slayer has sucked since after Seasons In The Abyss.

Listen you little bitch, I will call you out, where ever, or when ever i feel like it. You got called out because your fucking comment was ingnorant to say the least. Do you really think slayer is going to loose any fans other than crying little fucks like you who claim that they are "selling out". They are going to do what they want, regardless of if your almighty approves or not. And no slayer fucking rules on everything they have ever released. If your not listening to the newer shit, you have not a clue. But besides that, it has really been a joy arguing with you. Good day.

This is the entertainment industry!! It is show biz. Top acts whether heavy metal or otherwise are making a living now by doing anything they can.

flagrances, commercials, etc..

I hate to say this but this is the music industry. Everything is about profit. It was never about the music.. really.. the only time it was about the music was when these bands were in the garage and playing to 30 people and doing a US tour in Araya's camaro!

All the satanic bull crap is completely fake! really ... from Deicide to Slayer to anyother band you can think of.. these people are showman and are building a brand.. end of story..
