Las Vegas Commissioner Calls Ad For GUNS N' ROSES Concerts 'Inappropriate' - Oct. 30, 2012
According to the Las Vegas Sun, a Clark County commissioner has expressed "remorse" over the county's decision to temporarily rename Paradise Road to Paradise City Road in honor of GUNS N' ROSES' first-ever residency, Appetite For Democracy, in Las Vegas because of the offensive nature of the ad being used to promote the concerts.

The ad, which can be seen below, is described by the Sun as " a cartoon-like drawing [that] depicts a robotic monster lurking over a skeletal robot, with a disheveled woman sprawled on a sidewalk, her underwear pulled down below her knees and her blouse opened, exposing a breast."

Commissioner Mary Beth Scow, who represented the county at the ceremony commemorating the temporary name change, said she was unaware of the ad, which is being used in mainstream advertising, including newspaper promotions and taxicab placards. "I hadn't seen the advertising before the media event," she told the Sun. "It's clearly inappropriate. Maybe it's the risk of doing business with a rock band, but I guess we'll have some remorse over this decision. It's a lesson learned."

GUNS N' ROSES will play 12 shows starting Wednesday, October 31 through Saturday, November 24.

Each night, the band will perform an electrifying show featuring a set list created exclusively for The Joint. Appetite For Democracy will span the band's biggest hits from their debut album "Appetite For Destruction" (1987) through their platinum-selling record "Chinese Democracy" (2008). Exact details about the show are being kept under wraps but fans can expect the raw and gritty heavy metal GUNS N' ROSES is known for along with a few surprise elements. Produced exclusively by AEG Live, Appetite For Democracy is unlike any show the band has ever done before or will ever do again.

Ticket prices start at $45 (plus applicable services fees).

To purchase tickets or for more information, visit the Hard Rock box office, all Ticketmaster locations, Ticketmaster.com, TheJointLasVegas.com or charge-by-phone at 800.745.3000. Ticket and room packages are available at HardRockHotel.com.

"I do not believe that my representation of females aids in their oppression. It is my artistic right to render the images of woman as my imagination sees fit. Remember, I will gladly accept the title "Bad Person" to continue my expression. In other words, nothing short of death will stop me from painting nekkid ladies..." -Robert Williams '92

And is this Vegas or the Midwest Bible Belt???.

The only thing inappropriate about the use of this artwork is the obvious lack of it having anything in common with the Guns N' Roses cover band fronted by the original singer of Guns n' Roses.

In Axl's defence, he probably has no knowledge of these ads.

Let me get this straight, a commissioner in "Sin City", who is represented in the US Senate by that idiot dirtbag Harry Reid, calls an ad for a concert inappropriate?

How... inappropriate.

This is how Axl should open each show:

"Do you know where you are?????" "You're in f'n Vegas baby, and you're gonna diiiiiiiiiiee!"

Now, that'd be cool.....although I wouldn't pay 45 cents to see that lineup that supposedly is GNR

When you have artwork that's designed to offend people don't be surprised when people get offended. This was just done for the publicity. No publicity is bad publicity.

I'm not a prude by any means but how anyone thought that having a picture with a woman looking like she was just raped on an album cover wouldn't offend some people is beyond me.

Obviously this person does not know the history of this art and apparently didn't read the previous posts explaining it. Somebody always has something to say that just has no idea what they are talking about. Like it would make them cooler if this was an ad for jocked out Orange County musicians that use guitar models of Dimebag. Enjoy your 15 minutes chowder head!!!!

We will never see a reunion until all you people stop buying tickets to see the abomination they call GNR. If nobody bought tickets then maybe Axl would realize he needs to do the right thing. I live in Vegas and I can see the show for free and I still won't go. Sometimes I think I'm the only real GNR fan out there.

Another one of hack slash' minions who tries to sabotage the brilliance of the Real GnR!!
They might remove the ads alltogether because there will be a Huge demand for tickets.
Rather than the few hundreds that usually visit a krapokalipptikk show by hack slash.

So:
FUKK HAKK SLASH, MUFFMEISTER MCLOAD, JUNKIE ADLER & ASSKISSER RIOTACT.

Xhole=GNR!!!
Xhole=GOD!!!

I've lived here in Vegas for 10 years and never heard of this chick! I'm confused why she is upset about this artwork but is ok with illegal mexicans handing out flyers on the strip for girls to come to your hotel room and fvck for money? typical political hypocritical bullsh!t.
