JIMMY PAGE Remastering LED ZEPPELIN Catalog - Oct. 29, 2012
Peter Mensch, the manager of LED ZEPPELIN guitarist Jimmy Page, told the U.K.'s Sunday Times that the legendary axeman is holed up in a west London studio "remastering every LED ZEPPELIN LP." It is believed that the new remasters, which are tentatively due next year, will possibly include alternate takes and unreleased material as well.

Page recently told Mojo magazine that there are plans to release each ZEPPELIN studio album as a box set with additional material from each LP. In addition, it was revealed in an article in The Australian that artist Shepard Fairley has been tapped to re-design the artwork for the upcoming reissues.

Page recently told a British radio station that he is working on new music, which might be released before the end of the year. During a chat with BBC Radio, Page said, "I'm just looking forward to making some music and surprising people with it. It won't be just teaming up with lots of people who are [big] names. I've got an idea of something which I've had for a long time and now's the time to do it."

Page remained ambiguous when talking about the still-unnamed project, saying: "I have got other ideas that have been nagging at me for a long long time, I think the way to present music is same picture different frame, and sometimes this frame is quite radical."

Sorry to beat a dead horse here, but it does seem that at least two of the founding fathers want to keep the balloon floating; not metaphorically, but under stage lights. JPJ is very laid back and seems open to the future. Well, hope the horse is still kickin!

it's never going to happen. He's made that abundantly clear numerous times. Sure, a one-off might happen but a real tour - never.

But hey I wish all you psychics and hypnotists well because I think it would be cool if it happened too.

Looking forward to what Page has coming out. I'd laugh myself into a coma if they brought in Glenn Hughes to do a pseudo-Zep project. I'm sure whatever Page does will be interesting.

With the incredible self-titled 'Led Zeppelin' box set, as well as with 'Remasters' and 'Boxed Set 2'...

Major leaps in technology since then. The Beatles remasters sound impeccable. I can only imagine that the newly-remastered Led Zeppelin stuff will sound better than ever, too.

I hope they tag on some extra live stuff from each corresponding album's tours. I'm not sure how much unreleased studio stuff is still in Jimmy Page's vaults. Even so, awesome, awesome news! Very cool.

besides Black Sabbath, Zeppelin are the most influential rock/metal band of all time.

non metal inspiration for metal would be Wagner, just saying

Some extras would be cool. Yeh, he's milkin' it, but a lot of us will line right up @ the teat, myself probably included. As electric-mombie said, MAJOR advances since the last go-round, could really do those already-awesome albums justice.

Ironically, Zeppelin's music does NOT need to be remastered.

How sad is that? 40-year old music sounds BETTER than the shit that comes out today (World Painted Blood? Death Magnetic?)

Actually, it does. I was listening to Remasters a couple of months back and thinking how weedy it sounded.

There is definitely room for improvement.

Got all the records. How about some new music from the Plant/Page/Jones/Jason Bonham lineup. BCC is probably near over anyway.

I dont know how Jimmy can improve on the old remasters. They sound awesome. Wish he would focus on:
#1) new music. Get some released already.
#2) go on tour. In whatever capicity that looks like I will be happy as long as
Jimmy is slaying that gibson axe.
#3) If there is unreleased Led Zep music in the vaults which I highly
doubt with all the bootlegs then get that out.
#4) Unreleased Led Zep live footage or live music would be great to hear.
#5) last on the list what he is doing now. Remastering a cataloge that
already sounds awesome.

This is exactly like f'n George Lucas remastering each Star Wars movie separately, then offering them as a set, then offering them with special behind the scenes garbage as another repacked set. Then release each one separately as a bluray, then as a set, then repackage as a special collectors edition.

Quit buying the same exact shit over and over, sheeple!!

And Shepard Fairey? Way to keep it cool, Jimmy. Can't wait to see where Shepard is gonna pull his "inspiration" from for this one.

Last stop for the money train, folks? Doubt it.

...and that there have been major advances since then.

But the question is...to what extent are you and I going to be able to hear those differences? Is it really going to transform the music so that it's worth spending hard-earned cash?

I have the box set of album replicas (made in Japan)...it sounds pretty damn fine to my ears.

I have no idea what extras might be included here (demos?), but I find it strange that we got the message "nothing is left", then a few years later, there is suddenly "additional material".
