METALLICA: 'Quebec Magnetic' DVD, Blu-Ray Artwork Unveiled - Oct. 22, 2012
METALLICA's official web site has been updated with the following message:

"About a month ago, we mentioned that we have a live DVD in the works to complete the 'Death Magnetic' experience and leaned on you to help us decide which songs would be on the main disc. As promised, we're back now with more details on that DVD, 'Quebec Magnetic' (!?!) which will find its way to your local retailer, online store, Metallica.com and favorite digital provider on December 10, 2012.

"This release is a first for us... yes, boys and girls, the DVD and Blu-ray will be come out on our very own label in North America! There are still some 'i's' being dotted and 't's' crossed, so we can't give you a name or fancy logo just yet, but we're pretty excited that for the first time we get to hold all the reins on a release from start to finish. Since we now get to call all the shots, the double DVD and single disc Blu-ray will be available for a price we thought was very METALLICA fan-friendly — suggested retail will be $15.98 for either format.

"Just in case you missed the first story, the DVD was shot by our long time cohort Wayne Isham, capturing the two 'World Magnetic' shows in Quebec City in the fall of 2009. You were kind enough to help us select the set list by voting here on this site, choosing the songs played in setlist number two as the main program. All the songs played at those two shows will be included on the DVD/Blu-ray. You can peruse the set list and, of course, check out the cover below."

"Quebec Magnetic" track listing:

01. That Was Just Your Life
02. The End Of The Line
03. The Four Horsemen
04. The Shortest Straw
05. One
06. Broken, Beat & Scarred
07. My Apocalypse
08. Sad But True
09. Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
10. The Judas Kiss
11. The Day That Never Comes
12. Master Of Puppets
13. Battery
14. Nothing Else Matters
15. Enter Sandman
16. Killing Time
17. Whiplash
18. Seek & Destroy

Bonus songs:

19. For Whom The Bell Tolls
20. Holier Than Thou
21. Cyanide

Are they seriously not doing a DVD of the 30th Anniversary show? What a wasted opportunity.

...seeing them playing KEA stuff with Dave M and doing Four Horsemen w/ Bush alone would be worth it.

Why not release the 30th anniversary series of shows instead? I think most of the Metallica die-hards would much rather see those than yet another show mirroring everything they've released on their website before.

what the hell kind of name is that. At least Canada is getting some respect from the boys. They played 'Breadfan' so that's pretty awesome. Just in time for Christmas too!! haha

$15.98 for a bluray of two shows? Say what you will, but that's awesome and quite generous. Could've easily sold it around 30 to 40 dollars. Respect.

Did anyone actually vote for "The Day that Never Comes?"

I didn't think so.

Seriously, that's a stupid looking image if that's the cover. Bootleggers do a better job with their junk.

Everything else looks excellent. I agree the 30th Anniversary shows should get some sort of release in the near future - those were badass sets.

I think the 30th anniversary shows will get a proper box set release sooner rather than later, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

As far as this Quebec show...not sure exactly why they felt the need to release yet another live set so soon after the Mexico City shows, which had pretty similar setlists.

I would pay a lot more for the 30th Anniversary shows with extras of all the opening bands, games, and pics of the Metallica museum that was set up. The price on this is really reasonable considering, but the set list is really odd. I mean, no Creeping Death? WTF? Creeping Death should be as mandatory as Enter Sandman or Seek and Destroy. It was cool to see some of the other material that is seldom played though. What I don't understand, going back to the 30th Anniversary stuff, is why another Death Magnetic show. The Nimes, Paris and Mexico City shows were Death Magnetic shows, and you can argue the Big 4 shows were too. It'd be nice to see the Download show too. The packaging looks weird though. It looks like James' throat is going to get pierced by a backwards M...

I don't see anything wrong with releasing this.

I mean, 'Phantom Lord', 'Holier Than Thou', 'Breadfan' and that's just the bonus songs, which I voted for (set #1).

Sounds like they're doing us a solid here. I bet everyone wants a copy. Now, don't worry, I'm sure they are making plenty.

I doubt that they will release anything from the anniversary shows, as there were hardly any cameras at the gigs. Hope I'm wrong though.

Anniversary show will still come out--I hope!!!--I just think this is something, extra... Mmm, I'm just guessing, I hope they do release that. Probably as a bonus DVD on their new studio album...
