TODD LA TORRE-Fronted Version Of QUEENSRŸCHE: More Video Footage Of SOUTH TEXAS Performance - Oct. 15, 2012
Fan-filmed video footage of the Todd La Torre-fronted version of QUEENSRŸCHE performing on October 13 at the South Texas Rock Fest at Sunken Garden Amphitheatre in San Antonio, Texas can be seen below.

The setlist for the concert was as follows:

01. Queen Of The Reich
02. Speak
03. Walk In The Shadows
04. The Whisper
05. En Force
06. Child Of Fire
07. Warning
08. The Needle Lies
09. Prophecy
10. Roads To Madness
11. I Don't Believe In Love
12. My Empty Room
13. Eyes Of A Stranger

Encore:

14. Take Hold Of The Flame
15. Jet City Woman
16. Silent Lucidity
17. Empire

Commented La Torre after the San Antonio concert: "I'm a pure metalhead. I headbang, sing with passion and scream with balls. You want choreographed moves, go see a play. We feel the music and do what we feel. QUEENSRŸCHE is a metal band, and now we're looking and performing like one.

"Want killer music played with heart and soul, and raw energy for 90 minutes straight? Come see us now and you too will feel that we do care about this music! These guys are moving like you haven't seen in years, and with smiles on their faces!

"We are writing new material every day and looking forward to the future of QUEENSRŸCHE with all of you! We truly care about each and every one of you. Believe me, we do."

QUEENSRŸCHE members Michael Wilton (guitar), Eddie Jackson (bass), Scott Rockenfield (drums) and Parker Lundgren (guitar) announced on June 20 that they were parting ways with singer Geoff Tate and recruiting powerhouse vocalist Todd La Torre of CRIMSON GLORY as his replacement. The new QUEENSRŸCHE lineup previously played two shows in their home city of Seattle under the name RISING WEST.

As previously reported, female vocalist Pamela Moore, who is best known for her performance as Sister Mary on QUEENSRŸCHE's 1988 epic release "Operation: Mindcrime" and 2006's sequel "Operation: Mindcrime II", will join the Todd La Torre-fronted version of QUEENSRŸCHE on stage on October 27 at the Snoqualmie Casino in Snoqualmie, Washington.

Commented the group: "[Pamela] is considered family to the band, part of QUEENSRŸCHE's legacy and has won the hearts of the amazing QUEENSRŸCHE fans. It is our privilege to share the stage with her once again!"

Tate, who fronted QUEENSRŸCHE for three decades, recently sought to prevent his former bandmates from touring and operating under the QUEENSRŸCHE name without him. While ruling against Tate, the presiding judge determined that there was no legal hurdle in Tate also using the name with an all-new lineup of musicians. "I don't see any reason that Mr. Tate can't have the benefit, if he gets other members, of whatever name he uses of using the brand," Superior Court Judge Carol A. Schapira said during the July 13 court hearing. "I think [doing that would be] inherently confusing, although I'm sure the market can get these things sorted out," she added.

On September 2, Tate announced that he was launching his own version of QUEENSRŸCHE with RATT drummer Bobby Blotzer, former QUIET RIOT, OZZY OSBOURNE and WHITESNAKE bassist Rudy Sarzo and former MEGADETH and KING DIAMOND guitarist Glen Drover. Also on board in the new group are returning QUEENSRŸCHE guitarist Kelly Gray — who played with the band from 1998 until 2001 and also produced several of their albums — and keyboardist Randy Gane, who has toured and recorded with QUEENSRŸCHE and Geoff's solo group in the past.

Todd is turning out to be quite the replacement. What I think this line-up does best is the early pre-Rage stuff. The classic metal years.

whenever i see vids of this band live, i can't help but think that everything that had become lame about them was removed with Geoff Tate. they look and sound like a meat and potatoes rock/metal band now. i think it's great. would definitely buy new music from them/see them live.

and i say this as a QR fan. but Tate had become a caricature basically. i wish them the best. hopefully they find success with this lineup.

is such awesome news. I bought their first EP on cassette back in the early '80's. I cannot wait until they release some new music - hell, I'd buy a live record with Todd! This band has been reborn and I couldn't be happier about it. I think it's a reasonably universal opinion we all have that Geoff is a cancer that HAD to be removed. Otherwise, they would have continued to spiral down to COMPLETE irrelevance with that turd at the helm. They're going to come out with their best stuff in years now that he's gone, imo, and I'm proud to be a fan again.

fuckers who continue to steal music realize you're really hurting the artists we all love and enjoy - forcing them to tour to make money, right? Okay, just checking. Oh, so you're cool with that? Then, instead of being paid for your jobs, just do it for free and we'll call it "volunteer work", mmmkay? Grreat, just sign here, young man.

Really am looking towards a new release. I'm confident that this will be pretty good. Look at what they're playing live, it's easy to see that the next one should be as heavy as the early era. todd is more than a good replacement, he's the singer and voice of queensryche.

A great set list that the fans would never have heard with Tater Salad still in the band.

I noticed that every positive post so far has only 1 thumbs down. It's obvious that Tater Salad or someone from his family has marked every post with the thumbs down. You are not fooling us.

Ba-bye Tater Salad. Go off and play with your band of $cab$.

Todd had already proven he could sing on their older, classic metal stuff, and do it justice. But he really sealed his place as THE Queensryche singer by knocking Silent Lucidity out of the ball park! He can handle all the classic Queensryche stuff live, that is now a non-issue.

Also, the rest of the band look so much happier and relaxed on stage now that Geoff has gone. I really hope they can make this work and make a killer new album, as I desperately want to feel proud of being a Queensryche fan again! :)

Here's how ryche can seal the deal with longtime fans: Bring Chris Degarmo in for the writing sessions. Hire Andy Sneap to produce the album. Yes, it really is that simple.

Agree with earlier post that the band is Queensryche period, not the Todd La Torre fronted version of Queensryche as shown in the title. Also, Geoff Tate is the ex-singer of Queensryche. Just reality and the way it is. Sincerely hope that Tate accepts that he is gone (for many good reasons) and has success on his separate path.

I saw Queensryche live last year at House of Blues. Enjoyed the show, professional musicians, but not much chemistry between the guys and Tate on stage. They sound great in the linked videos, and it is cool that Todd La Torre is happy to belt it out and rock (as compared to Tate's over acted theatrics for every song). Stoked that the guys sound so great and have such energy again. More optimistic this year that they will produce new music that is in line with their classic metal/hard rock sound.

wow...if the earlier performances captured were a little spotty at times vocally...this shows what Todd is capable of. Damn fine. He is running on 90 percent plus right now and he is just warming up.
Queensryche hasn't sounded like this after watching all the vids in well over 20 years. That is a fact.

Todd is almost doing Geoff so close if you close your eyes you can't tell. Eventually he might have to add more of his own take on the songs as long as old fans won't be up in arms to the odd change?

On the above post that he nailed Silent Lucidity proving he is capable of the more melodic material...absolutely true. That was a great test. He passed with flying colors.

Adios Geoff. You nearly destroyed the band and you are gone and not missed by the real Queensryche fans. BYE BYE!

also..good point above regarding De Garmo and Andy Sneap.
That would be a great combo to get involved in the new album material. I am pretty sure De Garmo would get involved in overseeing the songwriting sessions and helping out. The band would just have to tell him the direction they want and that they are going prog metal again. I'm sure De Garmo would understand and help.

Can anyone ring that dude up?

"These guys are moving like you haven't seen in years, and with smiles on their faces!"

Hmmm. I watched "The Prophecy", one of my fav QR tunes, and didn't notice anything different from the last few times I saw teh Ryche live. Eddie still standing in his same spot, lip-synching to the taped back-up vocal & Whip still a bit gun shy on the stage.

As far as the smiling... I would argue the facial expressions are relief to not being spat upon or in fear of getting shanked on-stage by the previous singer. *I couldn't resist.*

I have not posted a single comment on the whole drama that is now QR. I am a fan since The Warning days, I've seen QR on every tour since Operation:Mindcrime - Opening for Heaven & Hell. I had lunch with Whip, Tate & Mike Stone on that last tour and spent many hours with them. That was a different time and Geoff was cool as hell, and really nice to talk to. Whip was quiet. Almost on the creep level of quiet! Mike Stone, now that was a cool mo-fo! I wish he would have stuck around, but it is what it is. Once they announced that Parker guy, I lost ALL interest and haven't seen them since.

All that being said, I think the arguing over the QR title is lame. Rising West should have remained RW and Tate should have gone on with his solo career as GT. "Queensryche", the name, the title, should have been retired with the firing of Tate. Love him or hate him, it doesn't matter. GT was the voice of QR. Look at Motley Crue when Vince was fired / quit and they released that kick ass album with Crabby. One of the best they ever did, but it sold nothing, the tour sucked and the fans were pissed because it wasn't Motley Crue. Had they renamed the band and retired Motley Crue, that album would have done a whole lot better (Nikki should have called that version of the band Brides of Destruction!).

Geoff, Michael & Scott: we all know you are on this board. Do the FANS a favor and retire the "QUEENSRYCHE" name, move your seperate ways and keep the drama out of the media as much as possible.

I know they sound great but it's easy to get carried away. Let's see what the new music is like. The band could still belt out the classics when they wanted to with Tate, it was the new songs that let them down.

seem to be in a very similar position to what Accept were in a few years ago. They did what I thought was unimaginable: Manage to still be a great band without their legendary original frontman Udo. But that they did, and sounded more vital than they had for many years. Mark Tornillo also has a voice that sounds very similar to Udo's. But by and large, the Accept fans (including me) took him to our hearts, and are very grateful that the band has found a new lease of life.

Todd does sound remarkably like Geoff, but it didn't hurt Accept having a new singer that strongly resembled the voice of their most celebrated frontman. So I don't see why it should hurt Queensryche either. If anything, it's better he sounds like Geoff than having a voice that doesn't suit the Queensryche material.

Accept did something remarkable, and it may be too much to expect that Queensryche can pull something similar off, but I really hope they can. As for the comments about Chris DeGarmo, I'd love to see him back! Even if it's only in a songwriting capacity. xD

Chris was the heart and soul of the writing and always my favorite member of the band. When he left, the music truly suffered. I thought Mike Stone was a good replacement, but c'mon, it's Chris DeGarmo.

When all of this started to go down in the media and the Rising West project was announced, I was hoping for Chris to come out of retirement and join up with them (seeing him live at the Seahawks game a couple years back was f'ing amazing). Chris kinda hinted it on that sports chat last year, but with all of this hoopla, I am pretty certain any hopes of Chris getting involved are nill to none.

Sad, because I thought Chris and Michael were one of the dynamic duo's back in the day. They brought out the best in each other live and in the studio.
