More power to Dan and Candi and the Spitz family. Being solid parents to their special needs kids is way more important than the Big 4 tour or anything else having to do with rock bands. Their situation is challenging but from what I see it looks like they've risen to the occasion and become better people in the process. Horns up for them.

, I just had to log in to tell you that I am sure that Spitz's kids are a lot better company than you are....and more evolved to boot! I could care less about abortion jokes...but a personal attack? Dan seems like a great guy and even though I do like Rob....Anthrax is not the same without him. I miss Dan's leads! But I understand the situation and it is awesome that he put his family first.

This organization does not do a thing for individual families at all.

All they fund is genetic testing and DNA testing, etc. They do not help anyone with services. They have not 1 single autistic person on their staff, the Board has members of some of the most successful businesses in the US in which their own companies do not even allow their health coverage to cover things like speech/language therapy. You would not know this the way Autism speaks talks about how they are pushing for health care coverage in all states. How can they allow a board members whose own companies do not even do this!?

Their are some very high functioning autistic musicians on they metal scene as well as other genres of music.

Autistics are everywhere and they do not all need to be called out on the carpet so to speak.

The low functioning children need extensive ABA and other very expensive therapies. Autism speaks does not do a single thing for individual families. If you want to help a child with a ASD, go to your local elementary school that serves these children and donate supplies to the teachers and speech language therapist directly. Donate your used smart phones, ipod, ipads to your local schools. Find out where the charter schools that cater to these kids are located in your areas and donate your time.


Donate your old or no longer in use amps, strings, guitars, drums, etc to a kid on the spectrum, offer to teach them a few chords, or video tape yourself playing a few and include it in your donation,some of these kids are amazing. All they need is to be given the equipment, look at a dvd of someone playing and they can copy it without a flaw.

Donate your free time to a parent of a child on the spectrum.

But do not throw your money away blindly to Autism Speaks if you want to make an individual child or family.

Go to donors choose dot com and type autism in the search, you will make a direct donation to a real class and real kids who will benefit for years to come through education.
