Former KISS Guitarist BRUCE KULICK Reviews 'Monster' - Oct. 11, 2012
Former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick has penned a "review" of the band's new album, "Monster", for his official web site, Kulick.net. He writes, in part, "I can say that I love the '70s influences on this CD. Anytime a band has a foot in that era I am into it, because so many great bands and songs came from the '60s and the '70s. I hear STONES-type things in some songs, aggressive guitars and classic style riffs with all the snot you can put on a guitar.

"Tommy [Thayer, guitar] really stands out all across this CD. He is a fine player, and I get the sense that the tall shadow of Ace [Frehley] is no longer a concern.

"There are tons of meaty riffs played with a '70s flair, and that always makes me happy. I also love the fact that Tommy's solos are very front and center in the mix, the way they should be!

"KISS keeps moving forward with the makeup lineup featuring Tommy and Eric [Singer, drums] in a fashion that makes perfect sense: plenty of crunching guitars, vocal hooks, thundering drums, and big distorted melodic bass lines."

Read Bruce's entire review at Kulick.net.

As previously reported, "Monster" is likely to sell between 60,000 and 65,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to industry web site Hits Daily Double. The estimate was based on one-day sales reports compiled after the record arrived in stores on October 9 via Universal Music Enterprises.

KISS' previous CD, "Sonic Boom", opened with 108,000 units back in October 2009 to land at position No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart. This marked the band's highest-charting LP ever.

Oh Bruce, age finally caught up to you. Not exactly a pretty rock star anymore. More like a garbage man! Not that that is a bad thing.

In other words, 'Hey guys, if that Tommy Thayer dude steps up and wants more money, gimme a holler, coz I'll slap the makeup on for half of what you're paying him!"

BK has always been my fav guitarist in Kiss during my fav era of Kiss. Definitely the best axe-slinger the band has ever had.

Bruce's last solo album had a couple good songs on it. Bruce had his own identity as a guitar player. Thayer just copies Ace's style on Monster. It's a fucking joke.

Have you actually heard the album? Then you should hear that Tommy is not copying Ace style.

Bruce is a class act and great guy. That's why you'd never see him wear Ace Frehley's costume and make-up like a scab.

tommy riffs are basically 70's licks , personally i think he is the worse guitarist to appear on stage , he needs to go back with his former band mate from black n blue which also sucked and got dropped and form the cold gin tribute act again because this national kiss tribute act today they call kiss is not the kiss i had come to love all the years prior to this sham in the face to many kiss fans like myself..i also want be a fool to buy this cd.matter of fact its not even worth looking up on youtube to hear it..i can;t imagine anyone getting a tattoo of this douche bag on their body

He was great on those 80's albums + Revenge. I'd say his work stands up as better than Thayer's but over the next 5 or 6 years, who knows, I'm liking the new KISS album, tho, I don't think it's as good as Crazy Nights, for example, close with Revenge, I'd say. Nice vibe to the Monster Lp.

Bruce was quite good in KiSS. But I can't really remember many of his solos, as they didn't stand out to me. Some solos were good, but personally I prefer Paul's solos, Ace's, Vinnie's, and some Thayer ones.

Tommy looks the part more and works in the makeup, even though it is kind of sacrilege to wear Ace's makeup. I am 50/50 on whether he should or not.

wow..24 thumbs down on my first post! Just making a point and a joke that he looks old. Age did catch up with him. How can people disagree with that? Must have lots of KISS army people on here.

Yeah, it's all in good fun, but people don't like negative comments on here. Only if it's not a joke, I guess. Whatever, right!

It's not the Kiss army anymore. It's the Kiss cult.
Some of the diehards we're dealing with here have their religion.

I already know 3 which i knew from:
http://www.guitarists.net/guitar_lessons/view.php?id=91
I am looking for a personal talent to help me guide in my guitar

lessons. Since Our last communication I connected with Nils Loren He has all the

Guidance + support I need. You have to admit Nils is a gifted man who has worked

hard to be the best. In my view he is right with Beck who with-out a doubt the

greatest guitar player of our time. Not taking anything away from all the other

greats. Thank you...
