Reunited UNIDA Schedules Hollywood Show - Oct. 10, 2012
UNIDA, the American stoner band featuring former KYUSS and current KYUSS LIVES! vocalist John Garcia, will perform at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California on November 24. Also scheduled to appear are ALL HAIL THE YETI and WITCHBURN.

UNIDA's current lineup consists of Garcia, Arthur Seay (guitar), Miguel Cancino (drums) and Seay's nephew, Owen Seay, who is only 20 years old. "We wanted a young hungry dude with no baggage. We've been through a lot with different bass players and we have a super positive family vibe so we just wanted someone who fits," Arthur explained to CoachellaValleyWeekly.com.

Cancino shared his enthusiasm about reuniting with his UNIDA bandmates, telling CoachellaValleyWeekly.com, "It's a really cool start over… a new beginning kind of deal. We took a long break and we're really building things from the bottom again and everything feels great again and part of that is having a new fresh bass player."

He added, "We like hanging out. We laugh, we BBQ, it's like family with us and John. All the good stuff that was around in the beginning that made it work is still there."

UNIDA returned to the stage on August 10 at The Hood Bar & Pizza in Palm Desert, California. Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be seen below.

UNIDA originally consisted of Garcia , Arthur Seay, Miguel Cancino and Dave Dinsmore (bass). Dinsmore was later replaced by Scott Reeder, who was in turn replaced by Owen Seay. Paul Gray of SLIPKNOT fame also played with the band as a touring bassist.

In 1999, UNIDA appeared on a split CD release with Swedish band DOZER. The UNIDA portion was titled "The Best Of Wayne-Gro" EP. Later that year, they released their debut full-length album entitled "Coping With The Urban Coyote" on Man's Ruin Records.

UNIDA appeared on the High Times Records' "High Volume: The Stoner Rock Collection", contributing the track "Left Us To Mold". The band's song "Black Woman" was featured on the soundtrack to the skateboarding video game "Tony Hawk's Underground".

I'm glad they're back together, but it was more of a hiatus than a break up. Lol@ thespaceforthis

Cool band, what a great album in Coping with the Urban Coyote. Hopefully, Unida can bring that one album back from the grave that was completed but never officially released. Man, that show at the Whisky a GO GO is reasonably priced and what a cool venue, hope someone gets some of that shit on tape.

Count me in for a John Garcia tour where he is doing Kyuss/Slo Burn/ Hermano/ Unida stuff all in one show if that ever happens. Actually, count me in for any John Garcia show. The only bummer is that this might further bump back the Garcia vs Garcia project that has been in the works forever, but we'll take what we can get.

That special voice has been on many quality projects, bring it John, like only you can brother!

That unreleased record was solid. I can't believe it got deep-sixed by American Recordings (or whomever) for whatever reason (someone pick it up!).

Anyway, the writing was on the wall for Kyuss Lives! ... but I'm REALLY pumped for this.

Looks like another Unida show has been added for 11/9/12 at The Hood in Palm Desert, CA with All Hail the Yeti.
