DOWN: Video Footage Of Entire Charlotte Concert Available - Oct. 9, 2012
Video footage of DOWN's entire October 2 concert at Tremont Music Hall in Charlotte, North Carolina can be seen at Tyronehood.tv. The set included three songs from the band's recently released "Down IV Part I - The Purple EP": "Witchtripper", "Open Coffins" and "Misfortune Teller", footage of which is also available below.

"Down IV Part I - The Purple EP" sold 12,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 35 on The Billboard 200 chart.

"Down IV Part I - The Purple EP", DOWN's first in a series of four EPs to be released over the next few years (with a year between EPs), each touching on a different aspect of the band's sound, came out on September 18. It will be followed by the second collection of songs early next year, around the time of a planned U.S. tour. EPs three and four are scheduled for later in 2013.

"Down IV Part I - The Purple EP" heralds the sound of DOWN going back to its roots, with influences from BLACK SABBATH, SAINT VITUS and WITCHFINDER GENERAL.

The track listing for the effort is as follows:

01. Levitation
02. Witchtripper
03. Open Coffins
04. The Curse Is A Lie
05. This Work Is Timeless
06. Misfortune Teller

Lyrically, the EP goes beyond just personal experiences, and explores themes that include the faith of mankind, the imperfection of mankind and cultural belief systems.

"DOWN gives me the platform to be poetic and paint imagery with lyrics," said vocalist Philip Anselmo. "That's the approach I took. They complement the music and create an ominous feeling. Ultimately, when people consume the words, it's always their interpretation that matters. I could be image-conscious though when I wrote. It's not so gut level or street. The darker shit is some of my favorite."

Did you leave out the words "Get Stoned with" on your comment?

...seriously, what good does a comment like yours do? Why not add something constructive to your statement?

Have you ever seen someone stoned to death? It's brutal, lengthy, and truly sad to see. And, yes, unfortunately I have witnessed deaths by stoning.

Please stop acting like some internet warrior and start acting like a human being. If you don't like Philip Anselmo, fine. Wishing him dead though? That's just pissy little schoolyard trash.

You're better than that.

Wow,some people really need to get a sense of humor,it was in jest due to his incoherrent babbling in between songs, which is incredibly annoying.

I actually worked security for this show. Not a huge fan of their music. But you could not have asked for a better group of guys. All of them, Phil included, watched EVERY band play the whole time. They were all super cool and happy to be around their fans.

they fuckin' TORE IT UP!! Phil did a LOT of strange rambling between songs though. Often-times he was hilarious but I hope it was just the booze talking. And no matter how fucked up he was, his voice sounded fucking stellar, along with the rest of the band.

Oh, I have a sense of humor...for things that are funny. But wishing people were dead, especially someone whose best friend and guitarist was shot and killed on stage...well, I just don;t see the humor in it.

But you stay being your tough internet self. I'm sure if you actually had the chance to "stone" Philip Anselmo, you would tuck your tail between your frail, fat legs and run away screaming like a little fucking girl.

Of course, if you asked Philip nicely, he probably would have gladly smoked a bowl with you.
