DON DOKKEN's Collaboration With MICHAEL SCHENKER: First Audio Preview Available - Oct. 8, 2012
DOKKEN singer Don Dokken offerered a short preview of his brand new collaboration with legendary guitarist Michael Schenker, a song called "Faith", during an appearance on today's (Monday, October 8) edition of the "Dropping The Needle" podcast. You can now watch the interview below. (Note: The Dokken/Schenker track can be heard starting at around the 16-minute, 30-second mark.)

According to Don, he has picked a select few cuts from Schenker's three instrumental acoustic albums "Thank You, Vol. 1", "2" and "3" and is currently laying down vocals over them.

In a recent interview with GlideMagazine.com, Don stated about his collaboration with Schenker, "It's going to be fun. He's a great guy and he put out a few acoustic CDs. I saw him last month in Bulgaria and he says, 'Don, we've always been talking about doing an acoustic record.' And I said, 'Yeah.' So he gave me a couple of his albums that are just instrumental and I said, 'Why don't I take them home and see if I can write lyrics and sing over the songs?' And it's coming out really great. It's not rock; it's a kind of chill record."

"Dropping The Needle" is hosted by Michael Brandvold from Michael Brandvold Marketing and Mitch Lafon from PureGrainAudio.com. It is described as "the podcast where all music from all genres is discussed. New releases, classic albums, rediscovered music, signed and unsigned. No ass-kissing, just two guys talking about music."

I love the acoustic songs from Schenker... But I wanna see what´s coming out of this partnership, Dokken wouldn´t be the first choice on Schenker´s list of singer

And don't come back until you bury the hatchet with George Lynch.

If your whole fucking musical career is based on your voice, why the fuck would you smoke? Ray Adler is another one that's ruined himself by smoking. Both smoke and both voices are shot. Fucking morons.

I just think it's a bad marketing idea while Dokken just released a new album that Don chooses to promote his "solo" collaborations.

And he wonders why Dokken doesn't sell anymore? It's called "ego" Don. Talk to Geoff Tate.

In Dokken terms, acoustic music is like cereal without milk, can not stand it, let alone buy it! Don is smart, what he needs is a better player to join his band, someone that easily can kick Lynch's butt...and Schenker is the guy. I would check them out, as long as they don't do any unplugged, thank you!

He's not ruining Dokken sales by working with Schenker. The cd probly won't be released for months. He doesn't need George Lynch. Jon Levin does a fine job. I think it's good that Don has given up working with George for good. It's time to move on for both parties. That means twice as much music for all of us.
