Former OZZY OSBOURNE Guitarist JAKE E. LEE Seeks Singer For New Project - Oct. 7, 2012
Ex-OZZY OSBOURNE/BADLANDS guitarist Jake E. Lee is back after over a decade in seclusion. In great shape mentally, physically and spiritually, Jake is ready to return and bring his brand of unique playing and music to the world.

In the process of recording his new album at Las Vegas' The Hideout Studios — owned and operated by Kevin Churko (OZZY OSBOURNE, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, IN THIS MOMENT) — Lee's first new release will feature a combination of legendary rock artists and some of the biggest names of new metal. Already recorded are guest appearances by Robin Zander (CHEAP TRICK), Paul Di'Anno (IRON MAIDEN), Maria Brink (IN THIS MOMENT), with many other big names attached to the project.

Jake has launched search for a new vocalist who will sing at least one track on the new album and will join Lee on a world tour starting in late spring 2013.

Criteria: Must be capable of singing a couple of OZZY OSBOURNE and BADLANDS songs, plus tracks from Lee's new album while still having a strong enough identity to be able carry the band into the future, as Jake will head straight back into the studio after the touring to begin a new album with the new band.

What to do: Send an email to Ronnie@HideoutLV.com containing an MP3, or a link to an MP3 of yourself singing a OZZY OSBOURNE or BADLANDS songs. Then submit one other song or video of your choosing that you feel best represents who you are as an artist. Listen to BADLANDS' "High Wire" to see the range required for this gig. Only those vocalists that really fit what Lee is looking for will be contacted with further instructions.

Lee's new solo album is being recorded with the help of guitarist Ronnie Mancuso of BEGGARS & THIEVES, whose 2011 video, "We Come Undone", featured an appearance by Jake.

According to the All Music Guide, Lee helped Ozzy Osbourne score two of the most commercially successful releases of the singer's long and illustrious career — 1983's "Bark at the Moon" and 1986's "The Ultimate Sin". Lee eventually joined up with another former BLACK SABBATH singer (albeit briefly), Ray Gillen, and formed the LED ZEPPELIN/classic rock-esque outfit BADLANDS. Subsequently, Lee played briefly with a band called WICKED ALLIANCE before setting off on his own, issuing his solo debut, "A Fine Pink Mist", in August of 1996.

Jake E. Lee's "covers" album, "Retraced", was released in the U.S. in April 2005 via Shrapnel Records. All the songs were recorded in a "power trio" format ala BADLANDS and the tracks for the project were cover songs along that style (bluesy power rock).

Cool.
I've said on here before: Jake needs to write a "proper way to treat your fans" book.
It'd become mandatory reading for everyone in the spotlight.

Both nights I hung with him, same routine: fan approaches, offers hand, Jake shakes/pulls forward into bear hug, signs anything/answers every question.
He does this with a big smile & genuine enthusiasm.
There are bands that still do this, or rather, advertise doing this, with those "vip" packages. How fucking insulting is that?
Buy album/buy concert tix: Important.
Do same & add $500: "VERY" important!

Jake, give me a shot! My voice is shitty but I'll do whatever it takes! (except gay stuff)
I'll be loyal & committed in every way.
Need me to sing naked, standing on head while hula hooping?
Let's get to work!
You gonna call this band "9 Finger Death Wank?"
Right after "TUG LIFE" inked on belly, I'm gonna need a bottle of Jack, a few painkillers, a small hatchet, some lube and everyone get the fuck outta my way!! Ain't gonna pretty.
I'M THE GUY!

The only Ozzy guitarist to combine excellent playing and amazing tone.

Sorry Randy, you were a masterful player, but your tone was dreadful. And Zakk...well, you just suck.

Look forward to the new project and hope the tour goes well. I'd love to see it.

a few things should be noted ... #1 - PVH5150 - obviously a reference to your amplifier ... that alone should clue us in ... but ... then you make it apparent with your comment about randy's tone ... blasphemy i say ... have you listened to blizzard or diary lately? ... KILLLER tone ... you should be banned from posting ...

jake is a great player and i hope this endeavor leans more toward his metal flavorings ... rock on

I really hope that this works out for Jake. The Badlands catalog deserves to be heard live, after so many years of silence. Ray Gillen is my favorite singer. There hasn't been a voice like Ray's, since he passed away in 1993. Maybe Jake can find someone that will can do the songs some justice. Badlands took a back seat to nobody!

Can't wait for this album and tour, and you know with the state of the music business, he will be flooded with audition files. I don't give a fuck who sings for him as long as he plays live again, but he should be able to get someone good for one tour.

Blabbermouth idiot writers: Retraced was recorded by 4 guys. A power trio is 3 guys. Go back to kindergarten and learn to count.

This is truly exciting news and have been hoping to see something like this from him for sooo long. As much as Randy wrote the bulk of the great songs, my fav is Jake and still listen to the ultimate sin often. Bark at the moon is a top 5 Ozzy tune without a doubt. Here's hoping this turns into something great for Jake and his fans and lasts a long time ... he has some making up for lost time.

Good to see Jake back! I saw him in 86 in Albuqurque, NM, Randy Castillo's homecoming gig, with metallica opening, and the great Cliff Burton on bass. Great gig. Drove all night from Texas, got there an hour before showtime, ticket window sold out two people behind us.

The Ultimate Sin was flawless & every song was f#+king awesome!!! Badlands was killer too! Even the old Ratt demos sound vicious! Best lead guitarist ever!!! \m/\m/

this is the best news I've heard all year. Cannot wait.

About the only thing that would come anywhere near this would be BCC doing a real world tour and Spektr touring the U.S. with Inquistion.

I had the pleasure of seeing what to my mind was the best line up ever of Ozzy's band - Jake, Don Airey, Carmine Appice and Bob Daisley for the Bark At The Moon tour. I'd seen him with Randy twice, I've seen him with Zakk at least once and nobody was better than Jake live. So much tone and soul. Just bad ass.

Glenn Hughes is one of the better suggestions I've seen in this thread. Ripper wouldn't be bad but I've never felt like he had his own sound. Tom Keifer would be excellent but I don't know if there would be an ego clash.

I'm just so stoked. Welcome back Jake! I can only hope Sykes decides it's time to get out of semi-retirement too.
