Former MISFITS Frontman MICHALE GRAVES Seeks Funding For New CD Project - Oct. 3, 2012
Former MISFITS frontman Michale Graves is utilizing the Kickstarter project platform to create funding for the new CD project.

Graves will enter Soundmine Recording Studio in November to begin tracking his new album, "Vagabond", for a March 21, 2013 release. The CD, which will ve produced by Hydraulic Entertainment, will feature 11 new and never-before-released songs that display Michale's unique folk/pop sensibility.

Underscoring his commitment to his worldwide fan base, Graves has created 15 different "pledge" levels that provide a wide range of was a fan can supported the album's creation.

Commented Graves: "I have been a performer for 17 years and have had the chance to travel the world and experience so many incredible people along the way. I live for performing and have been on tour so much that I haven't had the ability to record a new album in over four years. Working in conjunction with Kickstarter, I now have the ability to access those who mean the most — my fans — and create something unique for them."

According to Graves. the "Vagabond" CD offered on Kickstarter will not be available at any other point of distribution, making this release an exclusive, limited-edition album.

Added Mark Allen Stuart, CEO of Hydraulic Entertainment: "We are incredibly excited about our collaboration with Michale. He is a diverse talent with boundless energy and a deep respect and appreciation for all of his fans."

In addition to his production relationship with Hydraulic Entertainment, Graves is the head of the company's music group.

Graves has also released the dates for his spring 2013 "Vagabond" tour, which will included stops in 59 locations throughout the U.S.

A 'Christian Children's Fund' or 'Save the Homeless Pigmy Goats' charity spot has nothing on this.

The rich bands should pay their share and give others a chance.

"The rich bands should pay their share and give others a chance."

If you were not being sarcastic...

Define the exact cutoff point for "rich". If you're thinking Metallica-esque, you can bet the house they pay more taxes in one year than most all other bands will combined over their lifetimes. Is that NOT "their share"? I say we stop playing nice and in the interest of keeping the music scene healthy, invoice crappy bands in order to clear the playing field of the undeserving riprap. Enough with the kum-bah-yah crap. I think we can all agree that there is TOO MUCH out there and a serious culling of the herd is way overdue.

Now, explain to me why a crappy band that has gone nowhere should be the recipients of funds EARNED by others (or tell me who should be the judge of "worthy" or not to disperse said funds). At that point you'll see TONS of new bands emerge just to suckle from this teet you've created. What service will this have performed for music? (Hint: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING MORE THAN A TALENT-NEUTRALIZING REGRESSION)

Just like with wild animals, once you start meeting their needs without them having to hunt/earn, they take over your resources and space. Humans are no different. If you honestly think differently, repeat the third grade until it sinks in or practice "giving" in the wild with bears and racoons until your property is destroyed or taken over. Maybe then you'll realize that these pipe dreams of economic equality go completely against the grain of human nature and end up doing more harm than good (that is, when those "in need" get their ends with no requirements or work performed, and at the expense of others).

Wait a second...this guy has toured the world for 17 years and has none of his own money to fund his new disc? So, the fans that have paid to see him play, bought his stuff, now have to pay to hear something new? Thanks, but no thanks.

Well... nobody pays for the shit after it's done so why not try to get paid while you're making it?... makes sense on that level I'd say.

Welfare is given by the government. People have the choice to either give or not give to Graves, whereas they have no choice in giving welfare. The government takes your money by force of arms and redistributes it to someone else.

We're seeing more of these articles where bands are begging for funds.

I understand that downloading is hurting their income, but on the other hand... why do bands needs to spend years making albums?

Paranoid was written and recorded at the last minute, just to fill the album, and became one of the most iconic metal songs ever. Bands need to go back to spending short periods of time in the recording studio, because its not fruitful to spend a fortune in the studio when they're not seeing the return.

Obscured, while I stand by my words, please do not take them as an attack against you. They are an attack against those who still think the world is flat.

As for the bleeding hearts out there who still think that those who bust their backsides making things happen are obligated to support those who can't/don't/won't, I expect to see links to scans of checks you cut for a dead end cause. Pick one, there are plenty out there. If you choose NOT to piss your money away, you have chosen to be a hypocrite and your words (and your ideas, for that matter) are no longer of any kind of value.

*Note that this is different from helping someone who is in honest need of help. "Help" consisting of teaching skills and possibly a loan of aid while answering to drug testing and classroom roll calls, not just handing them money and calling it done. "Helpers" love to cut the cord at the bank so they can pat themselves on the back that much quicker thinking they're doing some good.

"...now have to pay to hear something new?"

Yeah, the nerve of buying new music. Shocking, isn't it? THE NERVE!

I understand people using Kickstarter for independant films or something similar where they might get something out of their investment, but an album?

In an era where you can record a professionally sounding album on your laptop, what on earth does he need donations for?

Seems kinda fishy...
