KISS: Two New Songs Available For Streaming - Oct. 3, 2012
Legendary rockers KISS will release their 20th studio album, "Monster", on October 9 through Universal Music Enterprises. Described in a press release as a "12-track, straight-ahead rock 'n' roll album," the CD features collaborations among all four members — including co-founders Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons and longtime members guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer — in an album that shows the band at the top of its game.

"Monster" track listing (iTunes version):

01. Hell Or Hallelujah
02. Wall Of Sound
03. Freak
04. Back To The Stone Age
05. Shout Mercy
06. Long Way Down
07. Eat Your Heart Out
08. The Devil Is Me
09. Outta This World
10. All For The Love Of Rock & Roll
11. Take Me Down Below
12. Last Chance
13. Right Here Right Now

The songs "Long Way Down" and "All For The Love Of Rock & Roll" can be streamed below.

"Monster" is the group's first studio album since the band's 2009 smash success, "Sonic Boom", and was also produced by Paul Stanley with Greg Collins at Conway Studios in Hollywood, California, and The Nook in Studio City, California.

"Monster" represents KISS' nod to the music that first inspired them to pick up their guitars and flame-throwers and don makeup to entertain millions. The group goes back to their own beginnings with THE WHO-like "Freak", while Gene lives up to the title track's declaration on the raucous rock of "Back To The Stone Age" and the bludgeoning "The Devil is Me". Even guitarist Thayer takes a turn on his own with "Outta This World". a tribute to his KISS "spaceman" character, while drummer Singer provides the vocals (and the back story) for the arena anthem "All For The Love Of Rock & Roll".

"There are no symphony orchestras, boy choirs, keyboards, outside producers or songwriters on this album," promises Gene Simmons. "The best thing we did was to turn inwards to ourselves. Tommy and Eric have revitalized this band, with a work ethic and the talent to back it up. This is a real band effort. KISS has become a behemoth. We're going where no bands have gone before."

"All For The Love Of Rock & Roll" sounds like "Mr. Speed"

Pretty good.

They're sounding way better than they have a right to at this stage of their career.

Gotta give 'em some credit for these last two albums. Nothing revelatory - just solid slabs of rock'n'roll.

I`ve yet to hear a completely shit Kiss album. There are songs I don`t listen to a lot, but not many. On "Creatures…" they became a really heavy band and then joined the "hair metal" groups on Animalize and then back to a really kick ass hard rock band on "Revenge" and what the h…. happened on "Carnival..". That was a really heavy album. Then it all crashed after the Unplugged show and a reunion with Ace and Peter we all knew where was going, ending up in "Psycho…" with hired musicians etc., basically the same crap as the late 70`s albums (personel wise, the music was ok). I don`t like the way they ended it with Kulick, the business, Kiss products etc…but Kiss have always released good song on each album. Even on "Hot in the shade" there were a FEW good songs. Being a Kiss fan is a love/hate releationship. It`s all about the money, the "Ace and Peter clones" etc., but they can still write music. Just keep Desmon Child and Poncia away from the songwriting!!! It`s Kiss, not Bon Jovi.

Couldn't agree more...it's a damn shame that they finally decide to go back to straight ahead rock and Paul is starting to lose his voice, but hopefully it will hold out for one more reocrd.

I'm looking forward to next Tuesday (at Best Buy...bonus song, "Right Here Right Now")....though I loved Creatures and Revenge (still listened to both regularly), this is the type of music that reminds me of the original Kiss, simple staight ahead rock and roll!

With "all for the love of rock n roll" the band has conjured up the spirit of early Kiss...somewhat. I want to hear the whole record.

There's a lot to be said for their decision to be more inward looking, but the best the KISS albums have been where they have surveyed the landscape and made a concerted effort to be competitive; Alive, Destroyer, Creatures, Lick It Up, Revenge, Carnival Of Souls...

These two songs, however, are the tired efforts of 4 old men surfing the wave of brand recognition onto an increasingly deserted beach. Re-treading overly familiar riffs and lyrics so bad they could have been penned by anyone with English as their second, or indeed third language.

But what do they care? This stopped being about the music long ago. All they need to do nowadays is create an anodyne soundtrack for the corporate raider, weekend rock fans to read their $4,000 dollar KISS Monster books. Analysed in those narrow terms of course it's a success.

I'm ashamed that I ever called myself a fan. It's like the Hindenberg tragedy unfolding in slow motion.

Oh, the (almost) humanity...

but these 3 new songs do nothing for me - I like the Sonic Boom material better, personally.

Think I'll pass on the new record.

kiss was one of my favorite bands and my first concert as a kid ... i haven't liked anything they've put out since "love gun" though ... just sounds cheesier and more forced ... every-freaking-record they've recorded since then ... this is ok ... but not extraordinary ... they are average musicians ... you'd think they'd hire some smoking players to impersonate ace and peter ... at least that'd be something to listen to ... but no, we get mediocre players doing rehashed tunes that sucked the 1st time ... next!

Having listened to KISS pretty religiously since the mid-70s and giving up on them after Psycho Circus I'll admit it's better than I thought it would be but man is Paul's voice ever shot. It's sad to listen to.

Hook laden, I hear the historical nod to past elements and I can see some appeal but what I don't hear is longevity or long term appeal. What I hear is they're trying to sound modern (the production aspects) while maintaining certain aspects of Kiss history (i.e. the riff based boogie woogie bluesy guitars) which at times comes off as derivative and has a certain 'pop' sensibilty which as a hard rock fan can at times irritate. Playing wise: they're certainly capable but you can tell there is a conscious effort to "keep it simple" unlike say... Elder (which I know bombed as a Kiss album) but the playing on it was of much higher caliber and the closest Kiss ever achieved to being a "progressive" band. It's also of the variety: play it a few times then remains forgotten. I give it a B - .

The Eric song sounds great after one listen. The other song not so much. It doesn't suck, probably take a few more listens to like it. I like Sonic Boom, some really strong songs on there, but with all this hype and time running out on their career, this album better be better. I don't want Sonic Boom II.
