a few observations:

1) Your observations are exaggerations and deceptions

2) Anette was more than just sick, she announced something about an operation to get a thing off her liver or something.

3) Floor walks in and does no justice to Anette's songs, just like Anette couldn't do justice to Tarja's. Sorry, I'm not saying Anette is the end all, just watching the video. If I paid to see this, I would have been a little/much disappointed.

4) I suspect the band made a pact to have a plan B, or plan C... or even a plan D. It's a business to them, and business is good.

About the band being a business... I do believe they are Incorporated. There's the band that everyone sees, and then there's all the stuff that goes on when they're not on stage. They have a label, management, and show dates/commitments, which they would be highly pressured to follow through on. Cancelling a bunch of shows would be likely a costly financial hit to their budget. This is a world tour, so they're going all around the States, Europe, and who knows where else. That is a substantial amount of money sunk into promotion, travel and personal care costs not only for the band but their entire crew, plus equipment rental and costs for booking the venue (because venues want to be paid, too, as well as staffing for the event at doors, security guards, etc). It's a very expensive business.
It would have been nice if they told Anette they'd be finding fill-ins for a few shows. Then again, who knows, maybe they did and maybe she just didn't like that or feel comfortable with it, and maybe she considers them moving forward as "not consulting" with her. Who knows, we weren't there. Either way, when it comes to last minute things like that, sometimes people have to make quick decisions on the spot and don't have time to have band meetings. They've got to scramble to make things work.

I would vote for elize ryd anyday after seeing that. Elize has a more beautiful voice, and her style suits newer NW material better. And don't forget Elize is a 10 out of 10 for sexiness. Pure angel.

Who know what will happen?

1) Floor was sick and called her doctor for prescription medication, which I guess helped significantly on subsequent shows.
2) What does being sexy have to do with good music? Elize is wonderful, so I'm not knocking her. But heavy metal is not Playboy. This isn't a beauty pageant where judges sit and give women scorecards. Not in metal. Not in heavy metal. Don't disrespect Metal by devaluing its women based on how "hot" you think they are.

I always been a big fan of Floor's voice and stage attitude, but i have to say that it does sound strange, at least she sings on key, something Anette had struggled with from what i have witnessed on some bootleg shots, nothing against Anette's voice, wich was good, but Floor would be the best singer for them, with a bit of retuning on some songs i guess...

i don't understand all the hate for anette. i really liked her and think her style suited nightwish far more than tarja ever did. i don't think she's a "diva" for being pissed at her band for finding a replacement singer when she was sick in the hospital. that's a reasonable reaction when you find out that your supposed friends and bandmates are more interested in their band and business than your personal health. it was a dickhead move for tuomas and co. to make and anette had a right to be pissed.

on top of all that, the above clip wasn't very good. this lady's pitch was questionable and her tone sucked. not sure why everyone is psyched on her.

and on top of that, tuomas is a fucking overgrown baby who has been writing the same disney-themed bullshit and wearing eyeliner for far, far too long. he faked crying when i saw them in seattle years ago, acting all emotional at the end of one song. the band came over and hugged him. it was the single lamest thing i've ever seen. the guy needs a big old dick punch and then to grow some fucking testicles.

I'm pretty sure Floor is not going to stay permanently because she is working on a new album for her own band Revamp.

SFV, all good points. Given how quickly they got Floor in, I suspect she was on standby for a while as well.

My theory is that they were going to replace Anette after the U.S. tour, when they have 2 weeks off before a UK tour and then a big show in Hartwell in November.

But when Anette went to the hospital and they found a cyst on her liver, that pushed things up. They canned her ASAP so she could get her ass home to Sweden to get it taken care of properly.

And I hope to hell they keep Floor. She really is the one worthy of the job.

I just lost a lot of respect for this band because of the way they represent themselves in public regarding their band business and such. They treat their vocalists like hired hands. Why would anyone want to sing for a band that will let random tour mates read the lyrics of sheets of paper on stage and butcher your songs just cause you had some medical issues. Yeah, yeah, everyone's like, she's got a lump on her liver. I understand all that, but there is more to this world than money and if your band member and friend is hurting you should be there for them and not ripping off fans by letting randoms sing your songs. I just cannot support this band anymore. They don't deserve support. They obviously care more about performing and money than they do about their band mate and friend. Certain things in life should take precedence over money and work. One of those things is the health and well being of those we care about.

Never was a fan of Annette, she;s alright, but never could really like the music a whole lot. And the Live shows with her are just another tale. Tarja = Ultimate. Tuomas should let the singer write songs too. Best outcome here would be Floor joining permanently.

Seeing people cry for Tarja to come back is funny since both sides have already said (about a million times) that it'll never happen.

Those bitching about them "walking all over" their singers and/or ditching them when it's convenient are funny as hell too since:

1. Tarja has diva written all over her, not to mention her husband thinking the world should pay him just to let her out of the house every now and then.
2. Anette has a history of medical issues that could/would prevent touring and whatnot.

Nothing there that equals convenience; just moving along without the worry of future problems. If something doesn't work, you fix it. Giving a shit what anyone outside the band thinks about it won't solve the problem since there's always going to be a bunch of idiots whining about one thing or another that a band does.
Some people need to find a hobby other than seeing how far they can stick their tongue up a bands ass. Or a singer, as the case may be.

You want Tarja back? Get her divorced and some therapy to make her realize she's not nearly as high and mighty as she believes herself to be; or is led to believe. (So, you can sing at operatic levels? Well, ain't that spiffy. So can a shitload of other people.)

People don't quit or get fired because they're sick. FYI, they were unhappy. Yes. Unhappy. For a long time. Too much going on. That is the most reasonable explanation. This kind of split is never taken lightly. The illness thing was very likely the straw that broke the camel's back, as they say. Emotions and stress is/was high, things weren't going good.
You'll never get the dirty details of exactly why it didn't work out. Why? Because I think they all know, at least now, the importance of being "pro" and not bad-mouthing. The less they badmouth the better it is for everyone. Stuff just didn't work out, and it all happen to come to a head while they were in the middle of their world tour.
It's unfortunate, but they had a back-up plan. Think of it like this: if it was all wine & roses, would they have had a back-up plan? If everything were perfect and hunky-dory, would Anette have been so cool about walking away from the band and shutting down her blog without protesting the whole thing? Obviously everyone in that operation thinks it was the best move for everyone.
Things are a lot deeper than what you see on the surface. Don't try making judgement calls on anyone just yet. And for the love of Metal, STFU about how hot singers are. That has absolutely no factor on how well they can perform and carry a tune.
